View Full Version : Hybrid Gamecube
I would really like one of these. Allows you to play DVD's as well as Gamecube games. That said, I don't think it's worth $489.00! Here's some pics:

It kind of looks like a toaster

I'm sure it's been posted more than that, since it's years old. Who cares?

Its been out since the Gamcube launched. I had one when they first came out. Not all they are cracked up to be. They are very nice looking though. Plays alot of DVD's, supposedly was region free with a hack. But I found it to be annoying. It played more what it felt like playing. Just a heads up.

There are also much cheaper region free DVD players to be found. I got mine for under $100 and it's a rock solid Philips.

Yeah. It's about your GC being able to play DVDs.

Yeah, I see that, but I'd rather just duct tape my GCN to a good region free DVD player and save the extra $200. :D

i almost bought one yesterday off ebay, but it went a bit higher than i hoped.
I just want one, i dont know why.
I know it's been out for a long time. But I brought it up again because I am interested in getting one. Just thought others would want to see some pics. Geez, everyone is so testy around here. :)

I have one of these, but I have never tested the PAL dvd playback, but all of my DVDs are Region 1. I love it, Nintendo should look at this unit as a basis for their next machine. Having Panasonic doing the DVD chipset seems to work better than the PS2 or Xbox offerings, I've found their DVD playback a bit suspect and clunky.
Granted you will pay a premium (good luck finding a Q Gameboy player, I might have bought the last one)
It's certainly a unique item, that has not yet once failed to recieve and 'Ohh thats neat' from visiting friends.
