"B" Button doesn't work on DS Lite

My friends is having a problem with her DS Lite. The B button doesn't register. It presses in just fine but just no response. Anyone know what might be the problem? I have the tools to open it if I have to. Thanks.

best bet if it's out of warrenty is to open it up and clean the circuit board/buttons w/ rubbing alcohol

Yeah, I just checked and the warrenty is expired. Thanks I'll try that tonight and see if it works.
