You can vote (http://forums.ignitionusa.net/showthread.php?t=636) for which cover makes the American print:

I prefer the Kyo cover since Iori is hogging the other cover with his ass but the Iori cover looks better on the 360 version.

The Kyo cover looks way better far as the ps3 version goes. Those screens look nice. I like the style of the game it seems to be going back to its roots.

I never played it much. The thing that kind of sucks for me is every friend I have hates fighting games. They want to play sports games or rock band or guitar hero or something like that. It wasn't a bad game I just prefer 2d when it comes to some fighters.
Looks like my characters are there.

Kinda wish Shingo was still in there. And it's some sort of requirement for every Hispanic person to know how to use Clark and Daimon.

You mean the shoto from Garou? I still have no idea why the US version changed his name to Butt. He's a definitely a solid char too. But two chars already take up the shoto spot in the roster.

So in new KoF XII news, PS3 users get online clans but has no ranked matches (http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/14/king-of-fighters-xii-has-dlc-console-specific-online-modes/)/360 users get ranked matches but no online clans and you'll be able to get into rooms online to watch and discuss matches (http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/05/the-king-of-fighters-xii-has-an-online-virtual-arcade/).

I don't know how Clans work or if anyone's even interested in it but we should probably get a CAG KoFXII Clan going once the game releases.

I didn't like '99 as much as '98 or 2000, plus the PS1 port has load screens between rounds which got annoying. Maybe the loads are shorter in the digital version, though. Also it's hard to say $6 is a bad deal.

99 was one of the only KOF games I could actually get into it.. although it seems everyone else prefers everything but 99. Obviously the fan favorite is 98, but other popular ones are 97, 2000, and 2002.

'94 was actually my personal favorite. When I lived overseas for a bit in the early-90's the arcade I went to had a cabinet and I wasted many quarters playing with my brother. It might be inferior to the other's, but it was still my favorite.
I have some $$$ left on my PSN account that I was going to blow on another PSone or PSP game and I'm in between Guilty Gear Judgement or KOF'99. Decisions decisions.

MVC2 and KOFXII around the same time is a bad thing in a way. If KOFXII came out the 20th instead I could have played it some before MVC2 was around. I'll still play KOFXII, and get it when its released. I bet I end up playing MVC2 more though.

True. MvC2 is probably a game I'd prefer to play non-serious matches with CAGs since there's no doubt I'd get my ass handed to me online and block pushing/infinite combos are too intense for me.
But I'd put the effort into at least trying to be decent online at KoFXII.

option iv - hows the netcode?

So far the netcode is pretty bad. I played with paco yesterday and he had 3/4 bars on my screen, and there was noticeable lag.
There is supposed to be a patch that hopefully will address this issue on the 28th. Not sure if this is rumor or fact.
Overall the fighting mechanics are solid, however, "barebones" is the word that comes up most of the time with this game. Only 5 stages, but beautiful stages.
I personally like the character set, pretty diverse, although a couple have very similar, if not identical moves (i.e. Ralf and Clark mashing punch). Some of the movesets have been changed to reflect the story or just for the better. For example, Iori doesn't have anymore powers, so essentially he just has claw based attacks (NO FIYA). Elizabeth got rid of her Sakura dp in exchange for a command throw and teleport counter type move. There are however a large amount of trophies, much of them have the "???" label, so I have no idea what those are for.
This game is just really for KoF fans, otherwise, you'll most likely be disappointed (you'll most likely end up comparing this to BB and SFIV). If you're looking for a solid fighting mechanics based on the KoF system, this is for you. However, that's really the only appealing thing about this game so far, besides being a breathe of fresh air from SFIV.
And regarding the G25, still waiting on Amazon to rectify my situation...

Just quoting someone who quoted Ignition's statement. Taken from the SRK KOF thread.
Official statement from Ignition-
'We understand that there have been some concerns raised about performance during online play. A patch for the both platforms is being worked on which should help with those gamers experiencing issues. While I don't have an exact date for the Xbox 360 version, the PS3 patch should be available by the street date July 28, 2009.'
So, I guess it's true. Might as well go through practice mode and learn the roster for now. It's a good thing we got early copies of the game before the street date. We all feel like beta testers right now and Ignition is listening to us.

Patch is up and HOLY FUCKING SHIT is it BIG. 772 megs for a patch? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?
GodlyOne
07-27-2009, 02:12 PM
Looks like the 772 MB patch is a way to make the install mandatory for the game.
Stole this from the KoF website forums:
Update 1.01 Change log:
- You can press Square now to invite a friend.
- People you have fought appear in PLAYER MET now.
- Menus are faster.
- FRIENDS MATCH appears now in the Online section (no need to go through XMB method, but is still there PS3 ver that is)
- Installation is not OPTIONAL ANYMORE, the Patch technically is the Installation of the game, try to install the game and it will prop you that it's not necessary to install since the patch has the installation in it, that is the reason it's 772 mbs.
- Netcode is BETTER, yet NOT PERFECT, we aren't sure if the dedicated servers are up already or not, so we will have to wait till then to know if the patch fix the lag with the dedicated servers.

As much as I really want to get this day one, being a huge KOF fan, I think I may wait this one out. Along with SFIV's recent price drop and Blazblue hitting a few weeks ago, I can't see this one holding on to that $60 price tag for more than a few weeks.

I'd say wait. Since this is your first venture into KoF, I would assume you'll be disappointed buying this game for $60. Stick with SFIV for a bit.

I hope this at least turns out to be like Socom Confrontation. This game really needs an overhaul in the form of gamechanging patches. It really can't be more barebones than this. Though I hear Ignition is listening to the forum posters. However, they suggested to change NAT settings to 1 to improve connection. And if you know that NAT has nothing to do with connection quality, you'll see this as them stalling or trying to deflect the blame.

Hah, Gaysglue how witty. It is witty because gays rhymes with blaze right?
I'd like to say that at least 90% of the characters in Blaz are pretty damn fruity. While 30% on KOF Are women despite being men. You think Blazblue is the only game I rag on? Do you have any idea how many times I've mocked people for choosing Kyo, Shen Woo, Iori, Ash for wearing girls pants? Or that I tell people when they choose Kyo, Ash and Athena that I like it when people choose all girls teams? I rip on both games equally, but it's more fun to rip on Blazblue simply because every damn character is a huge anime stereotype. Big Booby Lady? The catgirl thing with big ass paws? The lolita vampire? The Inuyasha wannabe?

Actually it was SNKP that was laying this shit down. Ignition is well aware that NAT3 doesn't do too much. Though in all fairness NAT 3 does cause connection problems even when forwarded properly and NAT 2 and 3 will never be as good as NAT1 when properly configured.
Socom amazes me because it had a completely fucked up launch, YET it is the Number 1 most played PS3 title online.

The netcode actually works great. IN JAPAN FOO. They made the netcode more distance based then anything. I have NO LAG when playing people in California or in the west coast in general, but the farther away you are the worse the lag gets. That's SNKP's problem right there. They made the online play for fucking region based bullshit. It's good for Japan which is essentially an Island so they most likely have NO lag when playing people around since it's all concentrated. But with a vast area like the US, this type of online sucks ass and is broken down into regions.
I've had some success with topics and region listing where we find people from our state and play them. That ensures lag free games.

Taken from there facebook. Not sure what the announcement is going to be. I'm hoping for a patch, but I kind of doubt it.
Anyone want to start a list of where everyone is for the game? The only way to get a lag free game in this is to be fighting in the same state or in close proximity. This is the list of people I have composed thus far.

I'm in California (once I pick the game up). Are all these names in the list CAGs? I'll update the first post with the list.

Or you could just go by the bars like I do. If its red leave, and if its yellow it should be alright or at least playable. I'm in good old NC... *sighs*

Doesn't matter if it's yellow. It still lags. I'm doing the state thing simply because people within the state have no lag. And those are the games I'm after.
And no, the list is from people I played, mainly from gamefaqs and playing people online. I can do the CAG list too.

Not the games I played they don't. That's what I go by,but it would be even better to find people in the same state.

I'm from California also.
I had pretty decent matches today with someone that had yellow connection(2 bars?). I just basically set up a 1vs1 room, no mic, and that's it. Then, i played someone that had a blue connection (3 bars?) and I couldn't get through the character select screen, it just froze. Made me exit out through the xmb. Weird.

So the CAG KoFXII list basically has 5 names in it right now, I'll probably wait till more people post their info before I start making a master list.

What does "very good" mean? I sure hope it's some damn good netcode, US KoF players are dropping like flies.

That's great news and all but you'd think that this kind of extra online QA stuff should've been done before the release of the game.

That's under the assumption that US players were KOF fans to begin with :booty:everyone knows that it's Latin America that keeps KOF afloat.

Hey KOF fans! We are continuing to test SNK PLAYMORE’s upcoming fix for KOF XII’s online play. Just tested in Japan and still need to test with Europe, but unfortunately, next week’s “Golden Week” holiday in Japan could potentially impact the submission and deployment of the patch. We’ll keep you updated with all developments—thanks for your patience!
Funny they don't mention the US. There testing Japan, and Europe. Watch the patch finally come out, and not help at all. xD

Your news is about a week late. THIS is the newest news
The testing of the update is quickly coming to a end with extremely positive results! We just have to get Microsoft and Sony approvals now but we are targeting to have it available near the end of August. The game has an amazing group of fans and we want you to experience this update as soon as possible. Thanks for being patient everyone and we’ll see you online!

I was to lazy to check for one online. I saw it on another forum, and posted it. I really wish I had waited a month to buy the game. I could have got it a lot cheaper. Not that it isn't good just saying. ;)

I'm just glad I live in a state where KOF is incredibly popular due to the Mexicans. I can get lag free games with good frequency and play with friends offline. But it does get tiring fighting the same six people over and over again.

Yeah it would be better to not have to check around for the same area people, and just play with whoever.

The PS3 patch was submitted on last Friday, we'll announce its release as soon as it receives approval from SCEA.
Posted yesterday. I'm sure Paco is going to top me with even more recent information. ;)

Sorry I denied your invite to play KoF Paco, but I'll have to wait and see if the patch does anything. I remember playing someone in CA and still getting horrible lag.

And Option.iv I'm having lag free games RIGHT NOW with FOUR People in it. All in California. If you do it within your state right now, it's smooth like butter. The person you were playing in Cali probably had someone using a computer or properly inconfigured router.
Option.iv is drinking that HATERADE right now. BOOOOOOO

Haha, good games paco. Maybe I'll put more time into learning KoF down the line if the lag is improved... maybe.

So, I saw this game being played at the San-Japan convention in San Antonio a couple of weekends ago and damn I thought it looked pretty sweet despite all the negativity I've heard.
Questions I have are:
1. Are there a lot of CAGs playing?
2. I heard they've changed up the moves lists. Are they still comparable to Street Fighter?
3. Does a KOF newb like me stand a chance at having a good time?

The online as of this moment is region based. If you're close to your opponent "basically same state" it can be lag free. The patch is coming soon and will hopefully fix this.
Haven't seen many cags playing it. If they are, they're most likely in the fighting game thread in general gaming.
They changed the movelists for some characters, while most characters just reverted to older games movesets. See Kyo and his 94 style moveset.
You stand a small chance and if you're willing to learn, you'll have a great time, if you're invested in crap like Blazblue however, you will never learn. Not really, but this game does have it's own style that is different then Blazblue and Street Fighter. There's three types of jumps, you can roll, do custom combos and so forth.
The King of Fighters is NOW patched. GET YOUR ASSES TO IT!

Yep still not perfect, but a really big improvement. Paco lives in ca, and I live in nc. We played, and got lag spikes. That beats the crap out of pure straight lag.
Shit. I just feel like I went through a damn war. I played the game four hours straight with friends after I came home from class and it drained the hell out of me. I only won about five matches, but it was against people who were better then me. It's amazing how fun Chin is when you do it right.
