Yes, 80 issues from Marvel plus 4 GI Joe crossovers, 4 Headmasters, 3 Movie (1987), and 4 Universe ones, I believe. There are reprint books out there, but not sure where anymore.

Issues 76 - 80 are scarce and will cost money if you try to buy original ones.

IDW published a movie sequel called "The Reign of Starscream" as a trade paperback which picks up right where the Michael Bay movie ends. I haven't read it yet, but I've been meaning to.

The problem is that the movie obviously breaks from the older established comics storyline, and so this book continues that new "movie" storyline.

There was also a movie prequel published in 2007, which I do have, and it's okay.

There is currently a comic series out right now called "All Hail Megatron" which has nothing to do with the movies.

Honestly, this combined with your original post leave me scratching my head. If you want the true original stories, just watch the original cartoon series from the 80's. (being reissued on DVD as we speak).

The shows were made for/from the toys, then came the comics, and then the movie which really has nothing specific to do with any of the previous stories.
