A teaser image found in a Japanese magazine by GameTrailers forum member "hweita" (http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/first-tease-of-kojima-s-new-pr/809239) indicates that we'll be hearing more -- ie, something -- about Kojima Productions' next project very soon. As you can see above, the image shows a field below a gathering storm. The URL underneath the date currently doesn't exist, but no doubt it will be up and ready for us to view on Monday, May 18.

This corresponds somewhat -- though not entirely -- with the email that was received by 1Up just yesterday (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/12/rumor-new-kojima-productions-project-sneaking-out-in-three-days/). The email contained the same URL, though the indication was that the reveal was only three days away on May 15. Regardless, it's clear we'll be hearing something within the next week that will explain the image above.

Let me take a wild baseless guess...
Project S and Tornado Outbreak are one in the same. It will be the spiritual successor to one of Suda's past games, Michigan: Report from Hell, only instead of playing as a cameraman of a news crew going up against leech monsters, you'll be the cameraman guiding a group of storm chasers who get close to tornadoes and other serious weather conditions. (Project Storm Chaser? Project Suda?)

Too much of a coincidence. On May 30th, Famitsu PSP+PS3 will exclusively reveal a new Metal Gear thing, possibly a game or DLC on either the PSP or PS3.

My guess? Going by what FriskyTanuki said about the new letters, this will either turn out to be DLC for MGO or an Ac!d-esque side-story called something like Metal Gear SEeD.

1) Are we talking about a non-canon game? Where a cyborg Raiden and a young BigBoss could co-exist?

Yea- i agree that it's probably Gray Fox- the eye matches. But what about the jaw? He clearly has his lower jaw in that picture- where as Raiden is just a head and a spine.

My guess is that, even if the countdowns get spoiled by mag scans, they get us talking and theorizing about what's to come. Then we can either be pleasantly surprised or horrifically disappointed at the actual announcement/early leaks.

I went for the first time to the site and saw the Big Boss and Raiden just like in the magazine scans. That mask figure is almost complete, only thing missing are it's eyes. If you look at the Kojima/Grey Fox logo on the bottom of the page, it switches to the woman every now and again.

I clicked on it, entered my birthday, but all I heard was music. Nothing shows up. Just refreshed and saw that blasted mask.

Hopefully it will be more than an announcement and we get gameplay video.

My guess for Rising is it'll fill in all the gaps in Raiden's story. Tutorials will be child army under Solidus, the meat of the game will be post-MGS2 through MGS4

Microsoft debuted the first details on Metal Gear Solid Rising at their E3 press conference this morning, but there's a reason Microsoft wasn't bragging about this Raiden-starring adventure being an Xbox 360 exclusive -- it isn't.

"You know, we didn't say that it was exclusive," clarified Xbox executive and corporate VP John Schappert (he was the guy hosting most of the event) during an interview with me immediately following the press conference.

"We said that the next Metal Gear will be coming [to Xbox 360]," he said.

"I couldn't be more excited about him [Kojima] working on that [Metal Gear Solid Rising] and having that be part of our show," said Schappert. "When I heard about that, I was pretty ecstatic and it was an honor to be able to be on stage with him and announcing his next Metal Gear, which will be on Xbox 360."

Of course, Schappert wasn't in a position to announce where else Metal Gear Solid Rising would be appearing, but could series creator Hideo Kojima be pleasing everyone by announcing this latest work at one conference, showing it at another? We'll have to wait and find out tomorrow morning at Sony's E3 conference.

And thus, the waiting game continues.

if its part of the story line which it will be, then it prob wont be 360 only.
