Thanks for all the input Salamando!
What is a good server to relocate on? I think currently my characters are on Whisperwind and I'm looking for a change.
Listen to Salamando but another tip is to make a starter character and go to an AH. Reason being is to make sure this server does not totally have a fucked up economy.

Then it didn't already happen, it's happening today.
My friends and I took a trip around Azeroth yesterday wearing gear from vanilla, visiting sites, taking screenshots and such. It actually made me very sad to know that's all going to change. My favorite screen is my Tauren Warrior kneeling in front of Cairne Bloodhoof. I'm going to miss that big lovable Tauren.

I just started my 7-day trial to get back into it and was so mad yesterday. No auction houses besides UC. I didnt know that. Went from Druid training place, to Thunderbluff, saw no AH npc's, then went to Ogrimmar, STILL no AH npc's, then finally someone told me the only ones are in UC

There's auction houses in every major city in Azeroth. None in Outland or Northrend, but every city in Azeroth has them. Both before and after the shattering.

TB and OG didn't have AHs or NPCs because the elemental invasion was going on. It was an event going on for a couple weeks. Elementals randomly invade TB, OG, SW and IF and you need to fight them to get access to 4 5-man bosses. When this happens, every NPC, AH, bank, mailboxes, etc. were gone while they were invading. After its over, they all come back. And they now have an AH in Dal along with class trainers in place of the city portals.
Also, I'm really liking the new zone changes. I wish every zone got some kind of overhaul, but I'm pleased with what we have. Orgrimmar looks AMAZING! Way more epic and feels like a real city now.

Man... everyone I used to play with has either deleted their character or has been inactive for months / over a year.
Not quite sure what to do, was kind of hoping at least a few people out of the 100 or so I knew would still be playing. Kind of a lonely experience not knowing a single person anymore and trying to figure out all these changes.
The worst part is I've got a priest so my crappy knowledge about the game now will lead to bungled raids =/

I have 2 Battlechest and one Lich King expansion ordered and I was thinking about ordering another Lich King from Blizzard for $10. I'll be installing 2 seperate accounts at my house for my son and myself.

Refer a friend bonus has to be done through the referral email link or no actual refer a friend will be linked.

There should be a way to set up the RAF stuff without the link. You may be able to call Bliz and get it set up.

So I'm going back to one of my mage characters, and I've got to totally respec him. I feel so out of the loop. what do you guys recommend for a mage spec now? I've always enjoyed being the Fire mage, but taking a look at him now, it seems as though he's a bit nerfed or just that they've made him really, really complicated.

So I've been playing through the new revamped world with an alt (Horde Troll Druid) and I have been having a blast with some of the new questlines.
OMG--Thousand Needles quests.
The racetrack is flooded. There's awesome questlines involving a boat, a ghost pirate, an ice cream vendor. And I'm not finished with the zone yet!

If anyone is on the fence about coming back to WoW, now is probably a good time. The revamp of all the old zones definitely help out the leveling from 1-60. Some areas are still blah, but the majority of it is alot better. Leveling a dwarf shaman and enjoying it. Though I did not need another alt :P
As for Hiccupleftovers question, from what I hear for lvl 85 on beta, mages are going fire spec. Though some enjoying frost. Seems the divide for raid specs is narrowing down abit. Arcane was pretty much the raid spec for the last expansion. You can pretty much go with the spec you enjoy now. There will always be people theorycrafting on what is best spec, but its alot closer now it seems. I enjoyed frost on my mage, but raid in arcane. Never really tried fire. Might play with it a bit since the toon is dual specced.
The talent revisions of the last patch really screwed up the scaling for everyone. Blizz set it up to scale for 85 correctly. Kinda messed with the levels beneath that. Though they just corrected the 1-79 scaling I think.

Nice vid. They made some fixes after that one was posted. I know for a while I was hating rogues in low lvl bgs. My poor warlock would get ambushed and one shotted. Was getting a little lame. Especially when you would see 7 to 8 rogues on the other team lol.
Right now with the new zones layouts, i'm questing and leveling so fast, I really don't need bgs or dungeons to help level. I am glad they finally changed the brackets for bgs though. A 10 lvl spread was to much. Especially for newer players just getting started. Every 5 levels should do very well.

Keep in mind that the game isn't balanced around this, and most people that beta test or are on PTRs don't play low level characters.
Still, it does make for some hilarious moments. Case in point:

Stop nerfing engineering, Blizz!
As for the guild, there were talks of it a few months ago, possibly starting one when Cata comes out, but the major problem is figuring out which server and which faction.
I still feel that a pacific server would be best for most people to deal with the time difference. And horde, of course.

To the first part of your post, I know you can just sit and wait for a dungeon group and then spam that extremely quickly to get multiple levels practically instantly. I did that on one of my alts starting at lvl 60 and managed to get him to level 62 after doing just two dungeon raids. It was so fucking sick because I remember how long it took me to grind on my other characters once I hit 60.
Yeah, I ended up reading around, and like you said, a lot of people were mentioning Fire spec as the one to go for, especially for quick and easy leveling, so that's what I ended up going with for the time being. I can always dual spec/add another spec, but I've always been a fan of the Fire mage.
Also, I thought I would just throw this in at the bottom of my post. I love how whoever did this managed to get this to be the number video result on google for "cataclysm flying mount":applause:

They nerfed quest xp from dungeon quests in a recent patch, so this isn't quite as true as it was.
A shame, as I easily got levels very quickly spamming the dungeon finder as well. I suppose it's for the best, as the new zone quests really are quite good.

It's a glitch and it happened when TBC launched as well. I remember being able to fly all the way to the end boss in Sethekk Halls because it would sometimes not dismount you when you entered. We exploited the hell out of this and got our leveling group full gear from him before they fixed it. Just too bad it was fixed by the time our druids had their quest in there where the mount would drop.

My CE from Amazon will probably show up Tomorrow or Wednesday, and I've gotta say that getting some beef jerky and soda sounds nice. I wish beef jerky would be cheaper though.
I'm honestly not in a huge rush to play day one anyway, judging from past launches, the zones are terrible to play in until a week or so from launch. I'll probably install it, watch the DVD and play the 51 pally I'm working on, if I play WoW at all.

I'm in the same boat. I'm really debating after tonight, not playing until after the weekend. And if I do play, its probably going to level up my level 50ish Troll druid. Maybe I'll just buy the new flying speed and explore zones, and not do one freaking quest all weekend.

How badly was it nerfed? I was just on say 3-4 days ago and was gunning through xp spamming one of my alt (lvl 60) mage characters. Literally got 3 levels done on 2 dungeon raids. Took like 20-30 minutes. Never had it go so fast before.

And yes, beef jerky is way too expensive, I only buy it on special occasions. I tried to take a nap to get at least some sleep but I just laid in bed awake for 3 hours, bleh.
I decided to try and play at launch because I haven't before and I had a vacation day to burn. so what the hell, I'll try it out.
To hiccup, your only choice at 60 through 70 is to level in Outland. You only get 10% of normal experience when you kill Azeroth mobs when you're above 60, mmo champion has a post about it.

I sure do wish I could do the same, but I'm stuck with a college final exam tomorrow mid-morning. It's slightly ironic that my last exam I have to go in for, the only one during launch week, is Computer Ethics taught by a former WoW player (now he's on SC2 and New Vegas). 'Course if I wasn't such a procrastinator I could've had my studying and final paper done already and just play through the morning and take 2 hours out of my game time to attend the exam, but as I said, such a procrastinator (unless I can somehow burn through the paper in the next 4 hours!).
I'd say you're all welcome to come to my realm of Skullcrusher, where we Horde outnumber the Alliance something like 3 to 1, but honestly I'm part of a small guild that is pvp centric, and the realm is full of absolute knobs other than those in my circle that I deal with. But if you want to murder alliance with extreme prejudice out in world PvP, this is your place.

I remember back in the day, a group of mine ran to BFD and we ran into an night elf 10 levels higher than us, and that was a challenge, and fun. But a bunch of dudes just ganking somebody with no shot of winning seems like you're just being a bunch of dicks.

Oh don't misunderstand, we're not like my professor (he reveled in ganking lowbies). Rather, we assert dominance over those who by all means should be equal opponents. Sure, I may take a pot shot at a lowbie here and there, but for the most part if they give me a /scared, /beg, /salute, whatever, then I'll let them go on their merry way. It's when someone ganks US that we let our rage-filled sadistic tendencies to the surface. We make them regret their hubris, and indeed I think most of us have had an alliance log over at some point or another to either bitch us out, compliment our thorough ravaging of their city (true story, he thought there was at least twice as many of us as there really were), or apologize and beg us to leave them be.
I cannot wait to go leveling, it never fails that most people silly enough to jump me don't bother to level with a PvP trinket on, and never expect me to be wearing one.

I go now into the maw of death, to sell people their Cataclysms. I'm hoping it goes better than Lich King, where we had about 15 calls for battletoads, people threatening to throw a brick through our window if we didn't stay open till 2 and our CC machines dying.
Hopefully it'll be a fun time. I will be messing with people and demanding gearscore checks at the door.

Some early impressions.
I quested in Mount Hyjal till 81 then went to Vashj'ir and gained half a level there. Hyjal is cool, some neat quests and stuff. Vashj'ir I hate, being underwater the entire time is really annoying to me, even though they improved swimming, you can walk on the bottom and they give you an underwater mount.
I did Blackrock Caverns, that was pretty cool. It was relatively short and some of the boss mechanics were fun. We wiped twice because we didn't know what we were doing on the bosses. It also gave a shitton of exp, so I recommend everyone do the instances. You get a lot of quests in there.
I leveled a worgen to 10 and so far that has been really fun. The quests are fun and flow really well and tell the story superbly.
Also did a little archeology. While I find it enjoyable, other people would probably think it's really repetitive because it is. But there's just something about it that I love. Maybe it's because I was really into dinosaurs and fossils as a kid, but I really like it.
And this needs no explanation, but flying in old world is the greatest thing ever.

See, I've mostly done Vashj'ir, and I must say I've been really liking it. The quests flow well and have a great variety (the mount quest was cool), I find the underwater world a different take on the game, and getting there was something different and unique compared to other areas that we've played in the past.

Yes. You could technically queue for dungeons instead of questing but that will take longer. Questing in Outland is pretty quick now though. I can hit 68 by doing Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Nagrand and a little bit in Netherstorm.

I decided to renew earlier than I was planning since a friend asked me to join her. Picked up my alliance mage that I quested to level 80 and then dropped right after. So his equipment blows hardcore. Every single piece of quest/drop equipment that I can wear brings up my health and mana pool by like 2k... Geezus. Won't have the same effect as my 80 horde priest since that character is pretty decked out.
I have to say though that Vashj'ir is a bit of a pain in the ass if I go more or less full frost. Survivability is great considering the amount of times yesterday that enemies decided to all respawn on top of me, the mage, despite there being like 15 other people within 25 feet of me. Frost Nova will take some getting use to in the 3D environment of Vashj'ir since it also hits all vertical/horizontal targets. (I didn't really read anything on Cata other than the original world changes and wow... I wasn't expecting an underwater area. Especially the whole seahorse mount...)
I briefly tried Mount Hyjal this morning before I left for work and it seems pretty cool from what I saw.

Yes. You could technically queue for dungeons instead of questing but that will take longer. Questing in Outland is pretty quick now though. I can hit 68 by doing Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Nagrand and a little bit in Netherstorm.
To hell with that. I leveled my shitty mage for the next tier of enchanting/inscription exclusively through random Outland dungeons all day. You get geared and a steady stream of exp plus decent faction rep. I couldn't stomach questing again in those zones, especially since all PvP is dead out there save for level 80-85 bored players zerging honor hold all day. After I'm out of vanilla at 58, it's queue-queue for me all day while I grind mining/skinning on my worgen. Only WotLK seems to be worth a damn for leveling content now and quite frankly there's WAAAAAAAAAY too much of it for the curve to handle lol.

The shattering changed the 1-60 zones too, so they are worth questing in again.

Gilneas was rushed and absolutely pales in comparison to the love given to Goblins, so that set the stage for disappointment for me. You leave there around level 10 and are shipped to Darkshore (which should be called Lightshore now because it's nothing but flowers and treehuggers) instead of Silverpine (OMFG this has me pissed because I WANT to world PvP while questing) and I hate that continent as a whole. Decided to ship out to SW instead and while Westfall has certainly changed, I don't like it. All the Defias are gone (no more rogue mask, gay!) and most of the quests are the same with small twists. I will say the sniper giving out quests was pretty bad-ass, though. I'm about to start Duskwood (easily the best zone in the game) tonight and thankfully it appears they haven't changed the zone too much, so there's that.
Overall, I'm hugely underwhelmed by the changes they made so far because they mostly equate to putting large holes in the ground. Really looking forward to STV for some PvP, but I see they nerfed Nessingwary's to the point of putting up fucking walls and town guards. God damn I hate the carebear trash at Blizzard. They fucking suck at PvP content.
Oh yeah, question for those more experienced with the changes than I. Please tell me the reason I'm seeing all horde flightpaths on my map in the SS/TM area is a bug. If they removed Southshore as an alliance leveling area there will be fucking murders.

World PvP died when they introduced the dungeon finder and gave you exp for doing battlegrounds. It might be alive again when you get into higher zones with shittons of people leveling worgen/goblins. It's also pretty crazy right now with everyone leveling in the 80-85 zones, my moonkin friend, lock friend and my dk were doing quite a bit of alliance hunting.

I don't remember who mentioned it in this thread, but yup, Blizzard definitely nerfed the dungeons/raids. I used to be able to do a lvl per dungeon, now I'm barely getting a quarter to 1/2 a lvl

So far, going back to wow is a breath of fresh air, i havent played in about 2 years. I had a 34 warlock and everything is different. Interface, questing, areas. Im loving it.
Funny thing is, all my main toons are on Deathwing server, have been from the start 4 years ago. And now with cata out, everyone is going on deathwing because people obsess over deathwing in the game. ghhh que times.

I am hoping to receive Cata as a gift for the holidays. Over the summer I leveled a Pally to 80 so I could see all the old world content one last time.
Now I am considering leveling a Shammy. But I am not sure if I will roll a Goblin or Orc Shammy. I am not a fan of the mana/ranged classes...mainly dps melee. So I would do an enhancement shammy. I have a pally, rogue, and dk all to 80. I tried a warrior, warlock, and druid but never really got into it.
I am hoping the shammy will do the trick.

I'm overall disappointed with the changes to vanilla WoW. Got my rogue to 60 last night and while leveling I saw all of maybe 3 horde that were in my level range (which were promptly PK'd). They streamlined leveling to the point that horde and alliance don't share quest hubs nor zones at times and it's really sad. Then you hit Outlands which is completely dead since everyone is instance grinding and I get rocked by 85's bored with content already in Hellfire. I don't mind getting ganked, but I wish there was at least somebody to PvP against. I wish the BG servers would die, if only for a day. There would be some epic world PvP for a change.
Ernest_360
12-13-2010, 12:37 PM
Even before CATA I was able to level my Pally to 80 rather quickly last summer, especially through Outlands...where the place was dead back then too. I was ganked a couple of times, but it wasn't the end of the world. I dunno, with CATA out now I think everyone is trying to get to the new end game content as fast as possible. I think world PVP hasn't been an emphasis (for better or worse) with Blizzard for a long time.

They will call you on your first order to confirm and when I first ordered, I had done it some saturday morning or evening if I remember correctly and received a call from them pretty quickly. I just got one last night too. Free game trial, auto level to 80 and server and faction transfer, wow! I wasn't terribly interested in going back but I am considering it for the trail period only. I used a scroll of resurrection and free game card in December, raided Dragon Soul, then quit again with 2 weeks game time left. It's not my happy place like it used to be in vanilla, bc, much of wrath.
I played WoW for 5 1/2 years with no subscription lapse, then I just did not want to play any damn more. It happened after we killed the Lich King but I tried to hang in there w/my friends; I was/am still just over it. Not the game's fault, the dev's could allow me to shoot laser beams out of my eyes and have a Candyland world with a fire breathing gingerbread man boss and I would still be bored at this point. So I quit the game and bought my first Xbox 360, playing a bunch of old to you/new to me games and having fun not trying to impress everyone on World of Logs. I would say what I really miss is the friends I made, but most of them are gone now too.
Edit: Whoa, just noticed this thread was dead for more than a year. Do we get infracted for posting in old threads on CAG? If so, I blame THAT guy *points up surreptitiously*

OK I'm not sure how big people are on WoW around here -- but what does everyone think of all the recent news about Mists?
I was getting really ZzZZz with Cata -- it just wasn't good. I don't recall any raid encounter that I found "fun".. the dungeons where.. ok.. neat and pretty...but nothing makes me go "I LOVE THAT PLACE". I enjoyed the remake of Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep...but .. it wasn't "new" stuff.
Anyway, the female Pandaren isn't bad. I actually do like the Dwarf female model, and she kinda resembles that. The Monk class, in general, seems absolutely awesome. Yes yes, it'll be WAY OP when it launches, then it'll get nerfed beyond words, but eventually they'll balance it correctly. The healing on Monks seem awesome.. looks like a DPS/healing hybrid.. but with a lot of channeled spells.
I am SUPER stoked about pet battles. Call it Pokemon.. it's a SIDE thing to do and no one has to do it, but I love collecting things and leveling things.. so it'll be fun for crazies like me.
"Farmville" is incorrect. It's more like Harvest Moon. Plus, farming your own herbs in a literal "farming" sense...is a fantastic idea.
The Challenge mode just seems great. It'll give that "video game" feel to it, you get achievements (ok big deal) but you also get class specific transmog sets...and THAT is def neat.
Scenarios are also interesting. Can't say much about it as we don't know much about it.
But I like that we aren't going for a "BIG BAD". This xpac is going to be how MMORPGs should be: A story. Patch 5.0.3 will be when we start this story..eventually, 5.1 will come out. Instead of it just being random stuff (like troll heroics, lol), it'll be a continuation from 5.0. This is a GOOD thing. Throughout all of this, we will see why Garrosh Hellscream is going to be the man we need to take out at the end of the xpac. I like this. It's not like "O NOZ, DEATHWING IS WILD. QUICKLY, ER'BODY AFTER HIM!". There's going to be a reason WHY Garrosh needs to be taken out...and that is just so smart, IMO.
You can be one of the sheep and say "LoL Pandas", but this whole concept is we find this beautful peaceful place..and Horde/Alliance are there fighting and being just insane and I'm sure we somehow drag them into this mess.
I'm excited. It's bad to be excited for games as they always lead to disappointment, but I wasn't THIS excited for Cata, and obviously my excitement radar was faily correct. I liked Cata, but.. I won't really miss it.
Anyone else excited? Or.. going to at least give MoP a try?
Jodou
03-22-2012, 04:21 PM
I'm excited for two reasons. The first being they're finally shaking the mechanics up with the drastic changes to talent trees. I'm not sure how well it will work since you have very few options, but this at least allows us to specialize and pick up signature moves along the way rather than having to spec for certain talents. Definitely about time my rogue can use Shadowstep in any spec, because we've asked for it since TBC. It will be like relearning the class all over again in MoP.
The second is BoA mounts. If this means my mounts can be accessed by any character as a collective stable, then it opens the doors to shared faction reputation, etc. I would like to start seeing more of a legacy system where if you're exalted on one character, it's account wide. Perhaps not for the current factions, but once they've become obsolete with a new expansion.
lilboo
03-22-2012, 04:25 PM
The talent system does look pretty awesome. HOPEFULLY .. and FINALLY.. we can have somewhat a more balanced system so people can't QQ about PVE/PVP. I love LOVE Frost (Mage). Love raiding with it. It wasn't bad in Firelands at all, and it's not bad in DS...it's just that.. Fire and even Arcane are so much better.
But yeah the BoA mounts/pets/achievements/titles are all a good thing. I don't know about you, but, it's really annoying when I have downed a raid on my main.. I go on my hunter and I can't get in a pug because "I don't have the achievement".. lol

cata was fun at the start but honestly i hate the whole patch system as most the patches just add more loot and grind and not really more content. and you're relaly stuck without fresh content till an expansion comes out.
At this point wow for me is like eq. been there, done that.I raided eq for about 6 years hardcore but after a certain point i just moved on as the game engine gets old and while there usally isn't a games thats better, its just different than doing the same ond thing in the old game. :)

Well I actually have good news for you -- a lot of people just hate "insert patch here" patches. What they want to do is essentially make sequels to the previous patch. When patch 5.1 releases we will understand WHY we have the content. When patch 5.2 releases, the lore behind it will be from the end of patch 5.1. Etc. Etc etc.
Now I understand grinding can be a pain, and WoW has done a terrific job of trying to fix that. Your weekly dungeons are now dungeons that can happen 7x throughout the week so you can do them whenever, instead of daily. Daily quests can be a pain, but it also provides something to do.
When people (not you!) complain about daily quests, and "Pokemon", and "Farmville" and all of the other "casual" things in the game -- and THEN they complain about "Nothing to do".. I don't understand what they are looking for.
Oh and why get rid of healers?! Are people never supposed to die?! LOL I agree that the "trinity" is a bit dry these days (tank/heals/dps) which is why I think more support roles should be mandatory. I did enjoy that in Rift. It's just that, I didn't really enjoy Rift overall.

So I've really been out of the loop since I quit May of last year; any plans from them to update Tol Barad or add a new world PvP area that's similar in MoP? My fondest memories of Cata were just going out there to harass people doing dailies or to protect guildmates doing the same. I'd really be sad if there's nothing on the table for us PK's. I really wouldn't mind it if they just revamped TB for 90's, because otherwise it will just be another dead zone like Wintergrasp.

I'm really excited for MoP as well. I'm really sick of all the fire and lava from Cataclysm and I'm ready to get back to peaceful forests and a whole new continent. I like Chinese culture and architecture so that's all going to look really cool.
I also like that there's no big bad. This game is supposed to be about you and your characters and Horde vs. Alliance, I'm pleased that we're getting back to that.
The new minigames are going to be a ton of fun. I love Pokemon and I cannot wait to battle friends and collect more pets and such.
I'm with you, lilboo, I definitely was not this excited for Cataclysm.

A friend recently got back in and he was telling me it's $25 per transfer per character, which is crazy high IMO. I know that <Kotick joke here>, but have they ever responded directly to requests to justify that expense as populations decrease? Maybe there's a policy in place my friend didn't know about, like if your server falls below X members you get 1 free transfer.
I'm not saying unlimited transfers should be allowed, but one or two character transfers every 60-180 days seems about right. It's a sensible interval and it ensures that the gaming experience isn't adversely affected by low populations.

It is a crazy high price but Blizzard doesn't give one single fuck.

I'm just surprised nobody's called them on it. At least one of the new corps of games journalists* has asked it of Blizz, haven't they?

I think the $25 price tag was originally to discourage frequent transfers. The transfers had to be done manually back then. Now it is automated and takes a matter of minutes. They could definitely lower the price, but people are used to it now. I've transferred a couple in the past and have one that I would like to transfer now, but I don't want to spend $25 again.

Yeah, $25 isn't defensible. It's automated, server populations are all over the place, there's really no reason to prevent people from doing this if they're not abusing it.

Who says they need to defend it? It's a completely optional service...a person is able to enjoy the game without ever requiring a server transfer. And people would abuse it if they got a free server transfer every now and again. Gold Sellers would use it to move gold from one server to the next...Ninjas could live without fear of a bad server rep...Guild leaders would be free to ransack the GBank and leave whenever they want to. The $25 acts as a deterrent from such behavior.
Although there are two methods to get a free transfer. First, be on a high population realm and hope Blizz opens up free transfers to a low population realm. Or use the new Resurrection scroll system, which grants the resurrectee a free server transfer to the realm of the resurrector.

BTW, this is all JMO, I'm not looking to start a "blizz sucks" flame war. As you and others have noted, Blizz doesn't need to modify this. I'm just surprised it doesn't come up more often as their server populations are really all over the place now (and those numbers are subs -- I was looking for indicators of server activity but couldn't find anything).

I think that if you're willing to put playtime into characters in an MMORPG (meaning you're prepared to sub for a while) and yet you're stuck on a deserted server, you should be allowed to transfer them to improve your MMO experience without an exorbitant fee, if any at all. Especially now that it's been streamlined.
It shouldn't be "optional" in the sense that it's a low priority for Blizz. I've heard enough "I'm questing all alone" stories from friends on abandoned realms to know that it adds a lot to the game experience when other people are around.

Creating policies to deter gold farming at the expense of gameplay is a bad idea.

It shouldn't cost 2 months of playtime, and you shouldn't have to wait for a scroll handout to transfer one char in a blue moon.

I was invited to the MoP Beta and downloaded the client but decided to just wait out the expansion. Anyone else have the beta but don't want to spoil Launch Day?

I with you DaddyBoJangles, Ive had the Beta invite for weeks, but I dont want to ruin any of the expansion surprises. I even try to read as little as possible about the details.

The pricing is meant to be 'just right' in terms of decision making. Not too steep that nobody would use it, but not too lean that it becomes a tool for moving wealth or abuse. The way it stands, it should make the decision to move a character to another server a tough one. You also have to consider server populations as if the cost were too low, you'd end up with horrible imbalances with people flocking to popular servers and abandoning theirs.
TOR is a prime example of this in the wild because the game is so new that players are overloading 1-2 servers and leaving all the rest at low.

Yeah, and I suppose WoW isn't at the point now where imbalance in server populations is a huge deal. I guess my question is more of a "moving forward" thing. They've certainly hit a price point that forces deliberation, it's just that as the process has become more automated, the cost might be worth revisiting.
I have no intention of getting back in (famous last words), but were I to do so I'd need to shuffle more than one toon around. Attracting someone like me with a single scroll isn't going to do it, because I'm thinking about 3 or 4 toons and how to get them on server(s) that are not abandoned. In that sense, temporarily discounted transfer fees may be a better carrot than one single move.

Does the new expansion have anything new for lower levels, I have never got a character to the highest level, even though I plan on it with my recently new annual pass.
I wish i was better at wow, its hard to figure stuff out, because people yell at you if u ask questions. Anyways, I'm level 21 goblin shaman, having fun. What will the new expansion hold?
Oh and i do have a 80 undead warlock that was auto leveled with the scroll of reserection. But i have no clue what to do at that point in the game lol. So i never use him.

Is the person that sent you the scroll not around to answer questions? What do you need to know about?
I just recently returned to WoW. I don't pretend to know everything, but I'll be glad to help you out.
The lower level content (1-60) was completely redone before cataclysm came out.
