I was in the bestbuy in leesburg yesterday and sterling today and noticed that both locals had displays of deep discounted games. I know both locations have product inventory coming up so they are clearing out dead weight.
I saw at leesburg
mercenaries 2(360)
the bigs(ps3)
samba de amigon(wii) and others
Rock Revolution(360 & ps3)
and at sterling I saw
Simpsons Game (360)
Rock Revolution (Ps3)
And each had several others, wasn't terribly close attention.
Also sterling had 50% off
Socom with headset (ps3)
Saints Row Collectors (360)
Madden XX Collectors (360 & ps3)
There were others of that as well.

There's also a Best Buy YMMV thread that this can go into.

Sterling has had all of those exact same deals ever since the larger $9.99 sale at the end of April (wow, has it really already been almost a month since that?). Last time I was there, they had what looked like over a hundred copies of the Simpsons game. I'd think if they really wanted to get rid of them, they'd have lowered them more by this point.

Ugh, I hate the regional forums, because for this area we have to look in both the Southeast forum for Virginia and the Northeast forum for DC and Maryland, amidst piles and piles of completely irrelevant stuff in states much further south and north. I'm almost certain I would have missed this post there, because I don't have the patience to dig through all of it.
Yeah, I know, that's where it goes anyway . . . ;)
Still, would be nice if there were separate forums for major metropolitan regions or something (or at least ones that get split up like this in the current schema, if there are any other than DC).

*seconds* Or maybe adding a Mid-Atlantic Region covering MD/DC/VA.

I'll be in Loudon this weekend. I'll check out Fair Oaks if I have the chance.

I would find a Mid-Atlantic region acceptable as well -- it would at least be an improvement. Perhaps we should hit CheapyD up asking him to add it to the regional page?

I'll sixth that. As someone who grew up in the "Northeast" and now lives in the "Mid-Atlantic" I can firmly say that they are far from the same thing.

So which specific states would we consider "Mid-Atlantic"? DC, MD, VA, obviously, but any others? I've seen some places that extend the term as far as PA and NY, though I'm not certain how correct that is. At least NY seems pretty "Northeast" to me, and when I lived in PA (grew up there), I believe we generally considered ourselves "Northeast" as well.
Personally, I'd be perfectly happy to have an all DC/MD/VA forum, as those are where I frequent, but I wouldn't want anyone to feel slighted. :)

Well I'd think that Mid-Atlantic states should include states that are "middle" i.e. not a northern border state (bye-bye New York) and not a traditional southern state (lata North Cak-a-lak-a). Also being on the Atlantic seems prudent (see ya Penn). So if it was up to me, I'd include Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
New Jersey would technically fit as well, but I'd think they'd want to be wherever New York was.
The only exception I'd make is to include DC in the Mid-Atlantic, it's not a state, nor on the Atlantic, but since it is comprised of land ceded by Maryland it's good enough.
I'd be happy to see this change.

Only reason I could see to leave out Delaware is because that would put the people in the northern part, closest to Philly, in the same position we're in now, where they have to read two forums to get all of the info for their area. On the other hand, I guess other areas of the state are closer to Baltimore. Obviously any regional divisions are going to leave someone having to check two forums, but I think the goal should be to keep the major metropolitan areas (which would comprise the majority of users) grouped together within single regions as much as possible. I dunno, any Delaware people here (probably not, I suppose, since the thread is titled "Northern Virginia") want to weigh in?
I just sent a message to Cheapy pointing him in the direction of this thread (hi Cheapy!), and asking him to consider the change. So we'll see what he has to say.

How about we change the name of the Northeast forum to Northeast & Mid-Atlanic and include Virginia and West Virginia?

That would work for me.

I think it would be extremely helpful. Bearing in mind the civil war, Virginia is technically south, but it really doesnt seem like it with the proximity to DC, Maryland, and West Virginia.
