Well, first off, I hadn't even noticed that EA had dumped the LOTR videogame license (and yes, this is the movie license, not the book one). I guess EA will never get around to working on The White Council RPG, now. Pity, as I thought that sounded like it had potential, but I guess I can understand them being sour on the brand, after that Lord of the Rings: Conquest disaster (though that was their fault, of course).
Anyways, guess what, Tolkien fans! Warner Bros Interactive has picked up the license, and is already hard at work on their first game based on the classic high-fantasy series! Listings from E3 lineups mention that WB will be discussing their first game based on the illustrious LOTR license, which will be called "The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest." Sounds like it could be awesome, right? Aragorn is one badass mammajamma, right? The concept of playing an entire game as that orc-slaying king of men has plenty of potential, right? You have no idea! Here's the official blurb:
"Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest is the first Lord of the Rings videogame created specifically for kids and their families. The title will feature accessible gameplay set in a friendly, colorful rendition of Middle-Earth."
...wait, what? What the fuck is this bullshit?!?
