Wow, lucky. I tried for the first time last night on accident when I was at the selection screen for the 3 systems I thought it was for the DLC and pressed enter at the same time I released my mistake. I lost and wasted my only pepsi cap, it was right when I went to bed and I knew I should have just gone to sleep.

i finally lost one one of the codes i entered for songs tonight. funny thing though, i entered 2 codes, played the first one, it said i won, played the 2nd one, said i won too. when i went to my account to redeem them for songs the 2nd one said try again instead of redeem for token...

oh well, still like 43/44. can't complain.

Blaim the Wii really, for not doing codes to songs like PS360... World of Goo I got came with a code, direct to title purchase so it can work, just that DLC for games can't, Look at something like My Life as King, inside the game is it's own shop, and you have to buy it through there.

It's a loophole they didn't fix, and they didn't realize the first time around they ran out.

This is probably the best thing ever for any Wii owners right now. Wonderful points to spend.

Ouch I feel for the guys that are losing on the DLC attempts. I was afraid of this happening, so I got all my caps as soon as I could and entered them all in one night.

I think the system was just allowing way more than 5,000 people to win per day before and now it's fixed. With how many bottles of Pepsi are sold a day in the entire US, I didn't think it was simply a matter of not enough people redeeming the caps. It's possible that it's simply a case of more and more people learning about the promotion, but 5,000 is a mighty small number when you take the entire US into account.

That said, if I get any more caps I'll be entering them at the stroke of midnight to hopefully increase my chances.

If the contest has indeed been "fixed" recently, as some suspect, then there's probably not much benefit to playing early in the day anyway. I would imagine it's more random and spread out over each 24-hour period.

It's definitely not about being the first 5,000 players each day, otherwise it would be impossible to win once you've lost once for the day (and this has happened numerous times already).

something really funny is going on. I was about 50/50 before today and recently had bought 105 pepsi caps off ebay for $50 and just started redeeming them today. First 5 lost. Then won 10+ in a row. Then lost some, then won 10+ in a row again. Something is not random about this at all. Also I'm pretty sure my account history has "Try Again" many times where I won. I was going to redeem all my wins for Wii points so I could more clearly see if it wasn't giving me all my wins in my history..but no wii tokens available. What crap.

Even if you're losing some, if you're getting these caps from other people it's still a good chance of getting something. Sure we won't all own the complete VC catalog but hey, most of us got what we really wanted. I just have a few things to mop up so 6 caps a day ( at least) has good enough odds to net me the last efw things I want. If I can stock up on wii points for future items then that will rock as well.

It might be closer to "Ok, you have a XX% chance of winning until 5000 codes are redeemed that day, after which point you have no chance."

I played 11 times in a row. Of those times I only saw the You Lose screen once and the You Win screen 10 times. When I went to my account though where there should be a link to redeem the token, I had 4 try agains. 1 was legit the other 3 should not have been there. I call and they told me there was nothing that they could do about it and that I should simply next time wait a few minutes between playing caps.

I just called about the problem of wins showing up as "Try Again" in account history and unfortunately unlike the previous poster who called in I got someone who had never heard of this problem at all. So she took my info down, but said call back in like a week. Kinda sucks because if I hadn't heard of the problem I know I might not believe the person claiming to have this problem.

For the people asking about this problem..no I did no redeem right away, but I don't think it really is going to make much of a difference. First of all, when you redeem a code it redeems the latest win you've had that you haven't redeemed, it doesn't specifically try to redeem a specific win. Also if you go ahead and redeem after each win you may experience the problem. I think there is some glitch where if you win once, and keep replaying after that it keeps telling you that you won when you really weren't supposed to have won. If you take the time out to go redeem a song, the time delay may cause the glitch to not happen. This may or may not be the other way around as well because I know I both win and lose in batches. I lost 5 in a row, waited a little bit, then "won" about 15-20 in a row, lost 5-10, won 15-20, lost 5-10 then "won" exactly 20 in a row since I counted this time. Out of those last 20 I specifically know 8 of my "wins" show up as "Try Again" in my account history.

If Pepsi does that, they will lose a lot of business. A bunch of my friends drink the 20 ounce due to this promotion, and that can change if they eliminate the 200 Wii Points. It gets subsidized anyway, so they don't take a loss, MTV is most likely hurting from this.

I don't think pepsi will lose alot. it's not the occasional drinkers that make the money it's the lifelong ones, like cigarrettes... your friends drinking is just a drop in a ocean for Pepsi.

They are getting more revenue from MTV/Rockband than they are in sales.

The wii points was a silly way to do that, but the Wii doesn't have a direct code redeem for DLC games. They have codes for games, like World of Goo but not for DLC.

I've been getting all 60 caps from recycle bins... can't stand pepsi. so all free to me, even with the losses, since I've already claimed about 10,000 points it's ok by me.

as for the codes... and the songs, I have no idea... only thing I could think of is the licensing of all of it. some are available because they allowed it that way.

As for the wii, you could use any of the points to get any of the songs... it's a loophole that they should have fixed, so I don't know if they will bring back points.

Yeah, probably right, but it will be interesting to see if my win streak continues. I certainly hope so! In any case, I'm pretty happy with 600 free Nintendo Points (hopefully) and having only bought 2 bottles. I am going to use them for (Wii) songs, not that it matters. I will prefer that they keep it as generic points, though, so I can pick from all songs available not just the Pepsi ones.

Not at all. Read the last several pages. Just entering a few caps isn't really a good gauge of your odds. I think if you enter a few more caps you'll have the same thing happen that everyone else did.

I have noticed the two I did win with were entered earlier in the day (9 am EST or earlier). Anything after lunchtime has bombed out. I'll need a few more days of trying this out before I'm convinced it's a significant factor though.

I picked the 360 bundle. Works for me because I got the original RB bundle on Launch, and the Guitar broke and the drums broke. So getting a new bundle is REALLY awesome!

Ok, anything I said before wasn't true. The odds suck now. I played 28 more codes today and only won 7 times. Wait, 6 of those plays were for a 360 bundle actually. So tossing those out it was 7 out of 22 on tries for songs. That's a 32% win percentage if I'm doing my math right.

This particularly sucks as I opted to buy caps from ebay this time, having paid $13.14 for 27, plus 1 from an actual purchased bottle (it didn't win.) So tossing out the one from the bottle which I would have bought anyway, and just going on the ones I paid for on ebay, that means I paid $1.88 per 200 points=$2, plus 6 failed attempts at a 360 RB2 bundle which I could have opted not to try. Had I put those into songs I probably would have won 1 or 2 more, but who knows. So I still profited *if* the Wii points come back. We shall see - still a no go as of a few minutes ago.

EDIT: I'm wondering if being more patient and spreading the attempts out over the whole day would have produce better results. If they limit the number per hour, then this might be the case, but I don't know. I'm not a statistician. :)

If by "codes" you mean the codes on the caps, there is no need to wait. You should enter those right away. You don't have to play them right away, but you might as well put them into the system so that you can play them whenever it is you want to play them. I figure that they have to bring back the Wii points since the promotion has said all along that we could choose Wii track downloads. It seems to me that they can't keep them off the table forever as a result.

I went back to check their Twitter account to see if they have released some time frame for the Wii codes. From a tweet from yesterday, they said that it should be "fixed soon." At least they know about the problem and are doing something, which was something I was kind of wondering. lol

Not really. Even considering my intentional weighting of the deal, despite how rare it is becoming to win, 200 points = 1 track = 1 win.

If you wanna get technical, as it stands the Wii points are almost infinitely more valuable considering they are not currently available.

I'm really hoping for new songs, mostly to snag stuff that's been released in the past few weeks. Green Day is the last new release I remember being added...but Kings of Leon, the new Weezer pack, Blink-182, and Kiss would all be nice (especially since the latter three are already represented with at least one song each). Spinal Tap would be great, too, but that's probably a little less likely. :)

Eventually, I'm going to run out of songs I'm interested in - I've already picked 25, and had already bought a lot of the ones I would've been interested in (like the Boston and Who packs). After that, it becomes a question of whether or not to go for the bundle. I just got the RB1 bundle back in April, but a wireless RB2 set might be nice...and unnecessary. :-k

At the No Doubt concert last night, there were clear recycling bins filled with tons of bottles and caps, but they had one-way tops on the bins, so I couldn't get them. So many codes going to waste just out of my reach!

I collected a nice stash of caps at the minor league baseball stadium this evening after the game and cashed them in this morning. Recycle bins and the local high school weren't very fruitful this week either. Went 18/26 with only two losses back to back. I'm almost out of songs that I really want. I'm trying to decide whether I want to download filler or go for some other prizes.

I'm pretty sure that it's in someway ILLEGAL for them to fix the odds based on how many codes you submit at once... or fix the odds at all without being upfront about it.

They ran out of Wii points, again, (i have all the RB tracks, most [all but about ~60] bought before the promotion) so I've wasted 3 or 4 on a PS3 bundle and 1 on the weekly 360 drawing (I need one with HDMI). Sitting on 8 or 9 codes now. This promotion went from awesome to bullshit. Not winning is one thing, but not even having the prize you "won" and quite often saying you "won", but your account says try again... What the hell? Did they suddenly let sony's PR department take over the promotion?

Well, it really shouldn't be any surprise that they both ran out of Wii points and are dragging their feet to bring them back. They've probably seen thousands of dollars of Wii points not get kicked back to the Rock Band guys... I'm guessing that EA/Harmonix gets a portion of profits from any Wii points used on the Rock Band DLC and they aren't seeing it benefit them. When you have people in this thread talking about how they've gotten 10000+ Wii points and don't intend to use them for Rock Band stuff then what incentive does a Pepsi/Rockband contest have to bring them back?

The reason they probably changed the fail rates is because nobody was biting on the sweepstakes. Now that points hold the potential to fail I'm sure more people are risking them on other items, too.

:-) My cry of bullshit was a little tongue-in-cheek...I'm mad that I'm loosing consistently now only because that isn't how it was before. But I also realize that I was never guaranteed a code with every cap.

Avoiding a lawsuit? You can't state that one of the options is Wii tracks, and then not provide a means for people to collect such tracks. Incidentally, I don't have 10000 wii points from this and haven't been able to cash in any of my 8 or 9 winning entries yet. I want Wii RB tracks and probably will use some for other stuff too if that's an option. Anyway, the incentive is clear: the terms of the contest clearly state that we can get Wii RB tracks and they can't just stop giving them out just because they aren't happy with how it works.
