I had a ps1, a VCR, and some other misc electronics stolen out of my dorm room once (this was pre-ps2, in the Dreamcast days). The person that stole them was the recipient of an unfortunate accident, and I got all my stuff back except the VCR, but that was my roommates. Though we did steal his TV and stereo instead.

lol, that is too great. an "unfortunate accident." one of my neighbors tried to steal my games (n64 times). let's just say he decided never to try to steal from me again after i finished with him.

I had a Playstaton and Sega Saturn stolen from me with like 30 games. Including Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo(PS1), Guardian Heroes, Dragon Force, Final Fantasy Tatics, Final Fantasy 7 and others. It was the worst day of my gaming life.

I got hit over the head with a stone egg in a sock in a train station in Frankfurt Germany by some addict I had been arguing with a while earlier ( I think). When I woke up, my jewelry was gone, my walkman, my locker key (and my bag from the locker, including all the correspondence I had received (and the stuff I had sent out to my folks) while in Desert Storm, and about three albums worth of songs I had written in the desert. Amazingly (and stupidly, even if all worked out for the best) my cash was still there... I was carrying $7000 in cash, and my wallet was so stuffed with bills that it barely fit into my jacket, folded up, and was a major trial to get out... it must have taken too long for him to get out, and he left it.
Still, I think I lost more than I kept.
If he'd done more damage, I might not have ended up marrying my first wife, which might have saved me a bit of bother.

I had eight playstation 2 games and a movie stolen from me. My brother put a lock on the door to my room. I believe that my nephew took my things. I heard him say that have I so many games that I would not no if any of them were missing. He now complains about my door being locked.

My cars been broken into twice., The first time, they took my cd player, rear speakers and cds. They couldn't get the trunk open to take the speaker box (it was an old 67 Mustang) and they failed to look in the glove box where I stored a .38 snub pistol. Thank god they didn't find that. Then about a month later, I had a little cheap boom box in there I was using as my cd player was stoled, I ran into the grocery store for like 5 minutes, cam back out, and some punks bent my rear window and got in the car and took the boombox and some tools I had in there. This was years ago. I no longer find it necessary to carry a gun in my car like I did when I was a teenager.

I've never had anything stolen from me...knock on wood.
Right now, all of my Game Boy games are in my basement. Since that's the system that's been getting most of my playtime for the past year or so, I'm not too worried about the games vanishing. Chances are that a burglar would break his neck by tripping over one of the many piles of crap down there before he made it into my room and to my games...

My car was broken into a while back, and a bunch of CDs were stolen out of it (they were in the trunk, because I was on a trip). Every current generation system has been stolen out of my house, along with about 25 games. Most recently, my new car stereo was stolen out of my car after I'd had it installed for about a week.

This is shocking. I've never had a game stolen.
*Knock on wood*
Do you guys normally just leave things sitting out on your carseats? And do people in your neighborhood know about the huge amounts of games you keep there?
My big worry is when i go to college next year, but I'm gonna buy CD wallets for all my games and keep them in a lockbox under my bed or something.

Someone took my laptop, a beastly 333 mhz Celeron with 64 megs RAM, and most of my saved school work with it. My Xbox was sitting right next to it but oddly wasn't taken.

Some punk kids tried to liberate my roomates car, but made enough noise to wake me.
(That's a tip for car theives- Do your work in Winter, when the windows are closed)
I got my Glock and fired 5 or 6 shots to scare them off. Amazingly, they never tried that shit again. I still sleep with my 'girl' nearby...

Isn't that a poor idea then they take the box and have everything in one easy to take box. In all seriousness college is about the only place to be a pirate IMO. I really think HD loader or burns are better to have then originals at college. Unless you know your room mates before school and even then most people change away from home.

And I "lost" Starfox and Zelda: LTTP when I was young but I eventually got new copies of each.

You ll need:
Bed
Heavy chain
Best lock you can afford
Lockbox WITH handle
Discretion
Place items in box, place chain through handle, chain lock to bed (and not on the feet dummy, the actual frame (so they gotta take the bed)
If you are feeling really retentive, run it through your cynderblocks too (most dormies use blocks, at least mine did)
Final step KEEP YO MOUTH SHUT!!! Yeah, we all like to be the cool guy on the hall that got GTA SA first but a fool and his GTA are soon parted. If you want some more fun (and you have an idea of who possible theives are) get an bluelight pen. Intial your stuff, then when homeboy walks with it, you got some proof its yours, (light over it and voila!) Take all disiplinary measures you feel are warrented (beating, death, etc etc)

I don't remember ever being robbed, either here or back in Vietnam (its probably happened, though. The robbery rate there is crazy). Except this one time when a guy tried to steal my hat.... That was crazy.

No, I never been robbed...
1) I don't advertise that I have something locally. Here I'll talk about all the goodies I own. Not in my everyday life. Only select people know what games I have. I also do everything understated. No spinners on the truck, no sound system that knocks clouds out of the sky, no expensive jewelry. I try to blend in NOT stand out. I don't need the attention, I get enough as it is.
2) I always lock doors INCLUDING my truck. I can't tell you how many people get stuff stolen because they leave their door to their car or home unlocked. Its plain stupid. We had several students at the college get their books stolen out of their car becuase they left them unlocked. These are the same people who don't fasten their seatbelt because they think they drive safe. Idiots.
3) Most people see me and know not to mess with me. Mainly because I am geniunely nice, but I also because I am a big guy and the ass-whipping that would ensue with pissing me off would be tremendous.
4) I never let anyone other than my soon to be brother-in-law borrow any of my games.

you know that they could sue you for that. you got to make it look like it was self-defense like they attacked you and in the struggle you "pushed" them down those stairs and they broke their neck.

OMG, this so takes me back to my college days.
If you live in a dorm, lock up your shit and hide it. Don't tell anyone you have anything of the least amount of value, or it will go missing.
My college dorm was so bad that people would often have their stuff stolen, and if it wasn't found in someone's room, it would be found for sale in the local student union.
If you're a college student, get an off campus apartment...anywhere off campus is better than the dorm. I made it easy on myself in college-my own apartment, no college roommate, and I always hid my games.
Haha, even now I still hide my games. I don't think a neighbor of mine has seen any of my games in years. The only people who get to see or touch my games are either related to me by blood or marriage, and even then I still have to like you.

I had a calulator stolen from my car, because i left it unlocked.
earlier i noted in another thread that my girlfriends's roommate stole a nes that I had left over there, with the excuse that she thought it was hers, but she made no effort to return it. She was living with her boyfriend, but 90% of her belongings were still where my girlfriend lived. So I went in her room and took a phone she just bought and returned it to walmart for 50. Because i thought it was too mean, i didnt take the 500-600 dollars in rent money that she left out.
I live in a pretty good neighborhood, and the college life has my friends and stuff running in and out all the time in the middle of the morning. There's enough people around that if anyone tried to break in, at nite they would get beat down. In addition i have a pretty big guard dog.
I used to be a sushi chef, and most of my friends are chef's and we all have sashimi knives, etc in our car. So robbers need to go elsewhere. Probably to the guy who is unable to lock his door :)
