GS rarely advertises ahead of time anything ahead of time for their sales, with the exception of Gameday. Generally these sales are always leaked early by some employee or someone who is friends with employees, and I have never been steered wrong on these B2G1, so Im just gonna go around the stores and grab the games I want for later that day when it goes into effect in the system. For the people asking for confirmation, there isn't any. When stuff like this pops up, we just have to trust that the CAG reporting it isn't full of shit. Most of the time, they aren't.

As for finding newer games, like inFamous, it's definitely possible. In the last couple of years, I have picked up a handful of games during release week. You just gotta get lucky.

The computer only allows one promo to be applied per transaction. Edge card is not considered a promotion, but percentage coupons and B2G1F are both promotions.

A number of times at a number of different stores I've used a percentage coupon + EDGE while B2G1 was going on. The employee just scanned everything one by one and it was easy as pie.

I have never had a problem using a coupon while a B2G1 sale was going on and I've done this maybe 10 times at probably 5 or 6 different stores.

During the sale I brought them in and they just did a return then they rang them up again with the free game. I just checked for you. None of those titles are available within 100 miles of either zip code. It's working fine on the site -- to test it out I searched for Halo 3 and found plenty of copies in your area

the issue has been more recent. so older titles like halo 3 work fine. I'm not really sure, but it only started in the last 2 months or so. like right about when ninja blade released. I know this is true b/c my gamestop had two copies of ninja blade for two days. checked the inventory and it said there was none.

I did the same things as you to see if it would work for other games that they would probably have used and it works for them. Now i dont know if those have changed for the last couple months either though.

yes, I've recently noticed that they no longer show the used inventory for new games for me...makes it a lot harder to find the good games during these sales. They probably did it because those copies sell out very fast so people would go there and complain when it was gone.

Yeah, I'm not sure why everyone kept saying it stacks since the 10% eternal coupon even specifically states on there it doesn't stack with other promotions. Just go in and have them ring up the games you want, if it's active it will be automatic. If it doesn't take off the free one, just don't purchase.

This happened to me on the last B2G1...they insisted it wasn't active yet. I just had them try the transaction, sure enough once they hit total it processed the free game.

This is correct, as GameStop's first quarter ended on May 2, 2009.

Keep in mind, when a new GS opens, they usually do their own B2G1 "Grand Opening" sale a couple of months after they open (they don't have it right when they open, since their stock will be a bit low). You may want to ask the manager if they've set a date for that yet.

Because they're doing 7 p.m. on Thursday instead of Friday morning. B2G1 sales have always been Fri-Sun, so you're getting two more hours than you used to. This also gives you more time to plan your attack run.

This has been discussed in a few pages before, but its very YMMV if the employee will accept it or not since the email even states the coupon is not good with any other offers, but some employees will either be nice enough to let you use it, or are dumb enough to have no clue to let you use it. But very YMMV. Only thing that always stacks with offers like these is the EDGE card, and on Used Deals of the Week it even takes 10% off the original used game price. But the answer is, possibly for the coupon. Just depends on your store(s).

Buying used does indirectly support publishers, because many people are willing to pay full price because they know that they can recoup most of the cost by selling the game when they are done with it. If you take away the used market, the number of people willing to pay full price will drop.

If you pick up 2 54.99 games and one 44.99 game, the 44.99 is your free one.

Thats why its always BEST to buy 3 games that are the SAME price, so that way you get the most value out of the sale.

FOR EXAMPLE:

For me at a TAX rate of 6.5% + 10 % EDGE card discount

3 54.99 games come out to $105.42 = 35.14 each game

While 2 54.99 + 1 44.99 will cost the same, yet your free games 'value' was only 44.99, and not the max of 54.99.

You're saying the same thing essentially. It's the same as making 2 separate purchases where your first purchase is your 3 highest cost games and they give you the cheapest of those 3; then the same process again for your second purchase.

Of course, if they did try to mess with anyone and gave the 2 cheapest games for free (as opposed to the cheapest within each 3 game pack), one could always make it 2 separate transactions to be safe.

I'll probably check out the stores tonight or tomorrow. I can't stand buying online and not knowing if I'll get a box and manual (even though I'd be paying the same regardless). As for which games, I just plowed through a few games recently so my buy list is pretty slim. I'm thinking Gears 2, NHL 09, and a wildcard 3rd - if nothing looks appealing, I'll get SF4 or something with good value and sell it on ebay.

Yeah. Your average B2G1 starts late Thur or opening Friday and lasts until Sunday. Unless you have a new GS that opened around you, then they normally do the B2G1 for the first month or so, but thats a different story.

My local store said it started at 7pm but they did say I could buy the games now for full price and come back in at 7pm to get refunded the difference. Kinda annoying. Especially as the ad on their website doesn't say anything about the timing :/

In that case, could you buy multiple games from different stores then return and rebuy at one location to get the discount?

I just grabbed CoD4: GotY edition in the sale, and on my way out noticed I had regular old CoD4 in the case. I asked the clerk for the GotY edition, like the box, and he said that the SKU for both editions are the same, and someone must have given the GotY disc to a customer in a normal box, because he had no GotY discs left.

Will I be able to take this game, with the receipt, to a GameStop that has GotY discs and exchange them? If they have the same price and the same SKU, I don't think it should be a problem, but it just feels weird.

Had gotten Wolverine and Tomb Raider Underworld last week using the eternal 10 percent coupon. Took them back today and got Sacred 2 to go along with them. Got a little screwed on the coupon (he still tried to adjust Wolverine down a bit but couldn't quite do it) but am happy paying $14 for Sacred 2.

I would recommend Little Big Planet (one of a kind game), Killzone 2, Uncharted (so much better than Tomb Raider) and of course the 2 RPGS :)

There's also the RPG Cross Edge which came out Wednesday, but good luck finding a used copy of that before the end of the weekend.

If you need a cheap game to fill out a list, Alone in the Dark Inferno is decent (improved over 360 version and more content.) Eternal Sonata also has more content that the 360 version. Ratchet and Clank is also good.

Other than that, ZxT's post is dead on.
