XBLM deal of the week for June 8- July 5th

I just got my July copy of the Official Xbox Magazine and in it there is an add that displays the deals for the weeks of June 8- July 5th. The deals are as follows:

June 8th-June 14th - Gears of War 2 Combustible Map Pack - 30% Off (560 MS points)

June 15th-June 21st - Fallout 3 Operation: Anchorage - 30% Off (560 MS points)

June 22nd-June 28th - Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - 30% Off (800 MS points)

June 29th-July 5th - Fable II Knothole Island - 30% Off (560 MS points)

So those are the XBLA deals of the week for most of June and some of July, what do you guys think? Personally I've been waiting for Knothole Island to go on sale before I bought it and I'm glad I waited.

30% of 1200 (that is the starting price of the game, I believe [correct me if I'm wrong]) is 360; 1200-360= 840

I guess the other guy rounded down, or messed up on the math. Nice call, by the way.

hehe I don't know about worst, but certainly really disappointing to me considering how nice the community here is (at least from my experiences so far) relative to the rest of the web.

This is incorrect. You can do either Operation: Anchorage or The Pitt the moment you set foot out of the Vault, you'll just have to walk to them. Broken Steel is the only one, but it has always been marketed as an extension of the main story... since it's biggest appeal is breaking the level cap and allowing you to play after beating the game.

As for reposting, my opinion is (with no fingers pointed):
-This has already been alluded to, but if you post to tell someone it is a repost it just bumps the topic. If you hate reposts, then disregard them and let them die. If the community grabs hold of a repost and makes it live, and it pisses you off, then maybe you are in the wrong community.
-Secondly, you are hurting the community as a whole, and yourself by degrading reposts. Some people may have legit posts that no one knows about, but they are too afraid to post because they can not handle the rejection if it ends up being a repost. Bad for them, bad for you. Yes, we should always encourage searching the boards so that the boards do not get filled with the same thing over and over, but it is never good to trash other members.
-Thirdly, if you hate reposts so much, then stop yelling at the posters, stop being a jr. mod, and simply let the mods do their job. If you are trying to do the mods job then you are essentially telling them that they suck as their job. Maybe use your energy to nag site admins to put a button at the top of threads so we can simply flag a post as a repost...and then let them do their job.

Just my 2 cents, and again, thanks for the post regardless, because it saved me a little money.

From what I've read they will be releasing the new campaign chapter for 1200 MSP and the new chapter plus all the maps for 1600 MSP. I'll see if I can find a link unless someone can back me up on this.

Indeed. I'm not sure what the other posted was talking about. You can play OA and The Pitt at basically any point in the game. The same is likely to hold true for Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.

Operation: Anchorage is short. Like, beat it in 30 minutes short. It's a lot different from the rest of the game, though and you get some sweet armor/weapons when you complete it.

No you don't, you can play Operation Anchorage as soon as you get it if you have gotten far enough to explore the world. The only one that you have to beat the game to play is the last one which expands the game beyond the end and adds to the level cap. Knothole is also playable whenever you get it, guess you haven't played that game either.

Didn't realize this is a Gold member only thing. Too bad, as I was psyched to pick up Operation Anchorage finally. It's cheaper to just pay the $10 then shell out for $4+ a month on Gold (grand total of $11 for it). I might try that $1 upgrade offer, but I despise scams set up to victimize lazy folks like me who hate making phone calls. Not a fan of having to pay extra to play multiplayer anyways, which is why I stay at the Silver level. And that still makes it $8 for the DLC, so the deal is less sweet. Nowadays it's not a disc, but a code for the download. Shivering Islands came on an installable disc I believe, but GTAIV and Fallout 3's retail DLC came with just the code.

My friend and I just beat Knothole Island last night, and honestly... no. No it is not.

It is truly some of the worst DLC I've ever seen, and so overpriced even at 560.

See The Future, which we're on the second quest, has been pretty choice so far. I can definitely recommend it over Knothole, which is only for Gamerscore Whores like myself.

I played through both DLC's a couple of weeks ago. I liked See the Future, but Knothole left me a bit underwhelmed. The idea of a changing landscape has some merit, but my character was just way overpowered for the dungeons and the story wasn't very compelling either. At least See the Future had a good story and some cool tweaks on the game play.

I agree with you on some things you said, but honestly..it was a decent DLC. I mean it's the only one where you get armor, and decent looking armor i might add; it has some unique weapons if you're a whore to selling uniques on the market, and honestly...on games like this, Fallout 3, etc...our characters ARE basically god-complexes. i mean what dungeons ARE too hard for your guy on Fable? please do tell me

Man, N+ gets nigh-impossibly hard in both the single-player and co-op levels after a while. But if you don't mind some frustration, it's a good deal at the current price.

100% absolutely yes. Try out the demo, if you haven't. There's a crap ton of levels and an extra pack free. Plus user created levels and online multiplayer. Yeah, you can get it for free for the flash version (try this (http://www.addictinggames.com/ngame.html) out too), but 400 points (could be less than $5 if you got points on sale) to be able to play it on the 360 is totally worth it.

The 48-hour trial only allows you to play online, it won't set your account to Gold status.
