Tell me about your scary dreams
mine was this
in my dream i was sleeping on my couch pitch darkness. A Lightning bolt woke me up. i was to tired to walk and i was all disoriented and couldnt walk straight like wobbling around. I saw my mom sleeping on the other couch and i said mom wake up. I then heard a truck pull up on my drive way. i ran over to the door but was back on the couch. i tried to run to the door again and i was back on the couch.
Finally i reached the door i saw a jeep with no one inside it. i backed away from the door and my mom was standing their. you couldnt see her face it was just black i saw her lips move. "you are going to hell" then the person that drove over to my house was standing behind me with a brown coat on. he said "We have been waiting for you Brian"
i then woke up and i was breathing heavily for some reason.
quite creepy when my mom tells me im going to hell
I haven't had a bad dream in about three years!

It's a trap!
Damn you for always saying that, now I can't stop laughing every time Ackbar says that line in RotJ
Anyway, my scariest nightmare was from when I was very young. Our school was on a fieldtrip during nighttime for some reason, and the buses pull up to this old church. There's no one around to greet us so some of the teachers and the 4th - 6th graders go in to find someone.
Time passes and we all wonder was is going on, so we crack the door to the church open and see they are all dead, decapitated bodies everywhere and blood smeared across the floor.
Then a window bursts open and a humanoid, fat creature with dark purple skin and stitches all along his skull jumps out with a running chainsaw in hand, yelling a half-screen / half-maniacal laugh. That's when I wake up.
Scary, disturbing shit when your's like 8 years old.

Ever since I was 12, about once a year I have a nightmare that I can't put into words. I just can't. I just deal with it and the cold sweat that quickly ensues. It comes back no matter how often I get up that night. It doesn't feature any traditional horror characters or typical nightmare premises (being chased, falling, etc.).
On a side note, I can get pretty freaked out at giant monster dreams. It's usually Godzilla or a variation thereof. Sometimes they're not that big. When I make eye-contact with the monster, they tend to go in my direction, so I keep running/driving and sometimes try to hide.

Don't really have nightmares, but I do have dreams of myself flying around and doing extraordinary things like liberating students from school.

These days I have sleep-walking hallucinations about once a month. It's the only time my wife and I ever fight because she wants me to go to bed and I'm convinced what I'm doing is real.

I haven't been scared by a dream since I was about 5.
Back then though, I had a night-lite that had a reddish glow. It would make all of my dreams have a reddish tinge. This was ok most of the time, but I had a week where every dream was of me in a blood soaked room and there were monsters everywhere torturing me. I would wake up crying every night. After about 5 days of this I couldn't take anymore, and threw the light away. For about 6 months after that, I had to sleep with my door open and the hall light on. God, those dreams scared the hell out of me.

I never had horror movie type nightmares but every once in a great while I'll have a dream that causes me to wake in a shuddering cold sweat. What I can remember usually doesn't correspond to the feeling of dread.
The weirdest was a dream in which I had no idea what was going on but I seemed to be getting ready to accompany my brothers to some sort of formal event. After a while I came to realize we were going to a wedding. Who did I know that was getting married? It had to be family or my brothers wouldn't be there but it couldn't be any of my four sublings since there were all already married. Then it sank in. I was getting married!
But to who? There wasn't even a girlfriend at the time, nevermind a serious relationship. Things proceeded along with my body on auto-pilot and me a spectator behind my eyes wondering who this woman could be. It finally got to the point where the bride appeared but she was so heavily veiled I hadn't the slightest chance of recognizing a face. I noted that she had a pretty good figure and started thinking this could possibly work out well.
That broke the mood and I woked feeling extremely rattled. I've never been able to make head or tail of that one.

I cant remember any of my dreams very well. I used to have a word document where I typed up dreams that I remembered, but I dont do that anymore. I might have to start doing it again.

Falling, and just continuously falling eventually I just relax and chill out, then I wake up the next morning pretty cool. Maybe I should turn my fan off at night.

I can't say which nightmare has been scariest for me as I've had too many of them over the years to know which was worst.
There have been several dreams about Freddy Krueger, and of course he was trying to kill me in all of them. I grabbed his hat in one of my dreams and clutched it against me, and when I woke up my arms were in the same position they were in at the end of the dream, but there was no hat (fortunately). Had there been a hat in my bed I probably would have committed myself to a psychiatric institution somewhere.
And there have been many dreams about tornados and massive floods (several stories high) and tidal waves.
I often dream about people (other than Freddy) trying to kill me. I've dreamt about it so often that those particular dreams don't have the same effect they used to have.
I had one dream many years ago where there was something coming out of the ground shaped like a gigantic ball, but it had lage scythes coming out of it. The scythes sorta looked like the one at
http://www.get-digging.co.uk/scythe1.jpg
The gigantic ball with the scythes coming out of it started rolling around on the ground, and it rolled over people and picked them off the ground with the scythes. There was blood everywhere from the blade of the scyth when it stabbed the people to pick them up.
And there was another dream where there were zombie-like people chasing me. I ran up a hill and when I got to the top there was a dead person on the ground. I pulled back the person's skin to reveal the skull, and there was blood everywhere, but I started licking the bloody face. That was probably the most demented dream I've had, but I dunno if it was the scariest.
Maybe I should start seeing a shrink.
Hey, you can say I'm sick and twisted if you want, but at least my mom hasn't told me I'm going to hell. lol

heh Actually I have been in a few psych hospitals, but not as a patient. I was just there visiting and/or picking up mentally ill clients I used to work with, and a couple other times to visit a friend. The hospitals didn't look anything like the ones you see on tv where drugged and crazed people are running around screaming, but it's definitely a creepy experience until you get used to it and realize that nobody's going to attack you.

Man those are creepy dreams.. I had a few nightmares and recently I had some too. I wanted to post something about nightmares some other night but eh..
So anyways, it was like Final Destination and my friends and I were in it and we cheated death so I knew who was going to die and how etc. But then my friends and I was put into the same kind of Final Destination situation (like the dream repeated itself) but this time it was a bit different like I knew in the dream I had already gone through this so I kept on predicting what could happen. But wow did everything go wrong. Pretty soon I was like all near death and crap and I see people dying and dying and then it was in the car my friend and I drove away and we were being chased by this dude who's all after us. I just had no clue, but I decided to wake myself up because I don't want to see what happen.
I had a lot more nightmares when I was younger. Another one was about this killer on the loose and I heard a cell phone ring in my ear like it was an actual cell phone and it felt pretty damn real too.
My nightmare never really compared to my aunt who had like the same dream everynight and it had the devil with a chain around her and poking her with knives putting her to her doom. Now that is freaky.
