amazon prime preorder question

I preordered some items because they landed in my quick picks and I also took advantage of the eca discount. If I didnt have prime but wanted to get it later, could I apply prime towards my items I already preordered?

Got really lucky today, I had Mass Effect 2, GOW III, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Wii Resorts in my quick picks today!!

I think I did this once, and I believe that Customer Service did manage to change the shipping for me from Super Saver to 2-day. I know it took a few emails back and forth, though they eventually did it.
