Just curious - I bought a used game at GS yesterday and noticed that the box and manual both said 'Promotional Copy - Not for Resell' (obviously someone didn't care).

What are the promotional copies of games used for? Who are they usually sent to? Reviewers?

Again, was just curious.

Forgive if this was posted in the wrong forum.

Thanks!

ANy game that comes bundled with something will be a promo copy like mgs4 bundles or RE5 bundles ect. They arent rare if thats what your thinking

Ah, gotcha.

Nahh, didn't figure they were that rare - was just curious why they would be marked as such.

Thanks for the answer. :)

It's done to avoid return fraud to stores. GameStop dodges this with used sales by using the game's normal UPC number.
