Well I received my order (PS3 version) of Rock Band 2 SE Friday; unpacked it Saturday and realized I was missing a piece. Now mind you my box was completely taped up and appeared untouched so I'm pretty sure this wasn't some tampering by Block Buster Video (their stickers are slapped all over the unit) nor Gamestop's.

But I gotta ask. Am I the only one (at least in this batch) that did not receive a dongle (wireless receiver) for their drums?

Very frustrated because EA is telling me I have to return the entire unit.

Rock Band did have a "Get the Funk Out 01" Pack recently with 1 song each from James Brown; Earth, Wind and Fire; and Average White Band. I'm not aware of any Disco DLC, though.

RB2 was selling for $95, even cheaper for people who were able to take advantage of CAG16, SAVER, and Edge. Ended up getting it for $80 for the PS3, so I think over 50% off is a good deal.

I recently got GH:WT because from what I've read, I thought I would like the instruments on it better.

I know that RB2 is compatible with these instruments, and i know that you can import RB songs into RB2 on the PS3, so, if I got both the RB games, I could play all the songs (except the 3 you can't import) with the GH:WT instrument set, right? This is all on the PS3.

haha, it came back in stock for a brief few minutes, but when you added it to your cart it said, not available and has been removed from your cart. Odd though

I just called to get the tracking number they never sent me, got it, due to arrive 6/17.

But I asked him if rock band 2 ps3 would come back in stock anytime soon, puts me on hold for 2 minutes and then says that yeah it should come in stock by friday. Why order is pending? I also asked if the sale price would be valid, and he said it probably would. So I guess just keep checking. Rock band 1 is in stock right now, which might be a good sign for rock band 2 maybe?

I ordered RB2 and GH3 for the Xbox 360 a little before 2am PDT on Tuesday the 9th. GH3 arrived this morning and appears to be new inside, just a box that has been roughed up a bit like they described. RB2 is still pending so I called and was told that the warehouse ran out and is looking for more, but it didn't sound too positive and they gave me a $10 coupon code for my trouble. Don't get too excited, received my Rock Band 2 bundle for PS3 and my wireless guitar was defective. After playing 1 and 1/2 songs, it shut down, with brand new batteries inside. I spent a couple hours trying to get it to work, but its definitely borked. The wireless drums work without a problem, but the guitar is defective all the way. In the middle of Red Barchetta the buttons suddenly stopped working, then the light on the controller shut off. I changed the batteries, restarted the PS3, tried using the "connect" buttons, and many other things..but nothing worked. Hopefully you guys don't have the same problem, since I can't enjoy this deal for 4-6 weeks when I get my replacement

p.s., I tried reporting it to rockband/EA's customer service, and half way through it keeps giving me a "navigation canceled message". FUCK me.

I'm really disappointed that I missed out on the bundles; although, I am hopeful for them being restocked. Given the choice, I'm not really sure which one I would get (between the GH World Tour Bundle and Rock Band 2 Bundle). From what I hear the GH World Tour instruments are better, but I have more interest in the Rock Band song lineup. Hopefully, this sale is just the beginning and at some point I can get both bundles for a song. ;)

Yesterday, I was told if I do not get an email confirmation last night to call them. Lo and behold, it never came.

Called today and I was told they very well might be out of stock and I'm SOL. He's going to be calling me back as soon as he knows if he'll have to cancel my order. I'll be talking to the supervisors if my order can't be fulfilled.

I understand if I ordered this yesterday and there was an error, but I ordered this a week and a day ago, called and emailed them and was always given the answer its coming no other problems. Not to mention I know people ordered this late last week and their order came in fine.

I noticed three HUGE gamestop - power to the players stickers on it and wondered what they were covering up. I have a little pet peeve of stickers and markings on my merchandise, I wanted them off. I noticed a sticker underneath that said "sale 189.99" and under that was Clearance "147.99" SO, not reckonizing those sale stickers I continues to peel of the stickers further and it was a packing sticker underneath and read -- "blockbuster inc 42225 ect ect address and to Mckinney distribution center." I guess these are leftovers from blockbuster and Gamestops "associate" wanted to get rid of them. Anyone know if Blockbuster and Gamestop are associated?

I got my 360 RB2 Bundle yesterday and it appears that my guitar was previously handled. Finger prints were alongside the neck of the guitar, scratches and prints were on the front body, the buttons were mucky/dirty, and the back was scuffed. The mic, game, and drums were properly sealed, unlike the guitar which arrived already opened.

When I removed the drums from its sealed plastic bag, I noticed that each of the drum pads had about 8-10 dings in the center black circle. Are they supposed to arrive with dings, dings caused by hitting the drums with drum sticks? Are the drums tested before they are sent out?

Did GameStop try to pull a fast one and sell used items as new again?

Sorry, would have updated sooner but I have been playing RB2. I got my Rock Band 2 for the Xbox 360 Tuesday. It came UPS in a larger plain cardboard box with the Rock Band 2 box inside. A few corners were smushed in & a slight tear on the top of the box but those flaws did not affect the instruments. It also has a black GameStop Power to the Player sticker on the front of the box & a Blockbuster Price Sticker $189.99 on the top of the box. I put it together & have been playing with it ever since. Everything seems to be working fine so far. Even used a few of my Guitar Hero guitars with it & the Rock Band 1 drums. I was going to export Rock Band 1 songs on the 16th but Xbox Live was down. So I downloaded them yesterday. I now have 5 guitars, 3 drums & 4 mics.

WTF!!! Same deal here. I got the rock band 1 guitar. WTF!!! How can this be a NEW Rock Band 2 set, if it has the Rock Band 1 guitar inside the Rock Band 2 box. Someone explain this to me please. I cant believe I didn't notice it before, but I am a noob to music games, RB2 is my first so you cant blame me. I really really hope i didnt get a refurb, the box my RB2 was is was white and had red numbers/letters on the side, the guitar also was in a white box and had red numbers/letters on the side, but the box does say RB2 on it mixed in with the letters.

My box was definitely opened, badly taped back up as well. And the guitar itself, like i mentioned in another post, wasnt in perfect shape. It had a few scuffs, and it has been having a hard time recognizing the power mode thing when you tilt the guitar. Also very loose and jiggly inside.

Did a quick google and found this, not necessarily reliable but something about the RB1 vs RB2 guitar. (from Ve3tro)
The Rock Band 2 guitar is an improvement over the original in some ways and a step back in others. The new guitar is sleeker than the last one and the wood finish does look incredibly sharp. The trade off is that you may notice your friends who aren’t as hardcore as music games shy away from this guitar because seeing the colors associated with each key is more difficult. The keys themselves are greatly improved and do offer more of a click feedback than the original Rock Band guitar which made playing songs disorientating. The strum bar also feels more responsive and provides the player better feedback while still striking that balance of not continually clicking in an annoying fashion. For all of these improvements the head scratcher design decision comes from the whammy bar on the Rock Band 2 guitar. The whammy bar is simply too long (that’s what she said) and interfered with my strumming to the point where I turned it 180 degrees and simply didn’t whammy the long notes. I understand the guitar was going for authenticity, but for a video game it would have been better had it been a few inches shorter. Overall, I consider the new guitar an improvement over Rock Band’s but it still does not hold a candle to the Guitar Hero III guitars. If you liked the original Rock Band guitar, you’ll likely dig the new one if you can get past the whammy bar.

My PS3 RB2 bundle came in yesterday and I took it over to a friend's house (since I myself don't own a PS3. Yet.) to try it out. The box looked surprisingly good, though not perfect. It certainly had a few ruffles on the box, but much of the box looked good.

The instruments inside looked flawless. The guitar is nice, and this would be the first time I used an RB guitar, and as much better as it looks than a GH guitar, it feels really different than a GH guitar, which I'm more accustomed to. Biggest difference being that the buttons sit flush with the fretboard in their natural state whereas on a GH guitar, they protrude from the fretboard in their natural state. Doesn't sound like much of a difference but I found myself overshooting or undershooting a shift a lot. I also don't know if it was because it was an HDTV or not or my timing was just off from not playing so long, but I seemed to be missing more notes than I usually do (on a expert bass line, even on the easy songs).

The drums came in and looked flawless as well. I coulnd't test them thoroghly enough to see if they worked just as well because me (and subsequently, my friend) both sucked at drums. It does seem like I need to really bang on the drum pads to get anything, but I suppose that makes sense. My timing is also a bit off, usually a bit late for drums, but I'm pretty sure that's because I'm not used to the timing for drums yet. The only issue with the drums was that the top piece doesn't hold do the stand very well. It has a lock to keep it in place relative to the vertical bars, but banging as hard as I did to get a response, the top part slowly became looser and looser as I played, and often times through a song, it just gives way and falls all the way to the lowest placement on the vertical stands. I guess if you play with it all the way down to begin with, it isn't an issue (like I do) but a lot of my friends are taller than me, and they'd probably like to have it up higher.

The mic came in flawless condition as well. My only complaint being that it was wired, which, isn't as much of an issue with gamestop as it is an issue with EA packing in a wired mic. It's a good weight and it works surprisingly accurately from my previous experience with the 360 version of RB2. I managed to get by singing "Eye of the Tiger" on Normal, passing with 5 stars, but then I tried it on Expert and failed horribly, which recreates my previous experience extremely accurately.

So, at the same time, realizing that I still needed another guitar for the full band experience, I looked back at the sale and found that Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock for the PS3 was still there and it costs about the same as a used Guitar anyway (and as an added bonus, comes with the GH3 Les Paul guitar, which is the one I'm used to using). So I went and bought it again, for the second guitar, getting a free game with it. Should be here in another 2 days.

It probably has a lot to do with how you go it. If it's giving you problems, I'd take it to your local GS and see if they can't replace it. Otherwise, you might want to RMA it from EA.

Neither one works. I have emailed GameStop "support" and they told me that local stores can't do replacements because this was a special online deal or some other excuse. You also can't RMA it to EA because you did not get a new product. What most likely happened is that some GameStop employees made use of the infamous "check-out" policy, playing with Rock Band 1 and 2 sets and then trying to stuff the contents back in the box 4 days later. Somebody messed up and stuck an RB1 guitar in an RB2 box. Then GameStop corporate turns around and sells us these boxes as "new in damaged box".

Your only options are keeping the box as-is or calling the number on their website, asking for return authorization, lugging the thing to a UPS store and send it back for a refund to buy non-broken instruments.

So, after being told on the phone that the only thing they could do was send me a refund slip and have me send it back for a refund, I decided to call my local store and see if they could do anything about it.

Talked to the manager of my local store, who said the SKU for my bundle was no longer in their system, so he couldn't do a straight trade. He also informed me that the SKU for the item I bought is how their old "used" bundles used to be marked, so there is no "New" about it. Instead of just telling me off like the phone people basically did, however, he proceeded to talk about how stupid GS's shipping people were, especially since I didn't even get a disc and got on the phone with someone apparently fairly high up, who admitted that there had been a miscommunication on the website, and that they were willing to do full refunds for everyone affected.

Store manager then told me that I could either take customer service's offer of returning the unit via the mail, or that he could give me a replacement disc, along with updating me to a better guitar by tricking his system into giving them to me for free. The guitar was still used, but it looked to be in absolutely perfect condition - no stickers, scratches or other blemishes. Just some fingerprints that were easily wiped away. Played for about an hour earlier - no complaints. Synced right up.

So, even though I still don't have a new bundle, I did get a much better version of the crap that the website sent me.

For everyone else in my situation, you might try taking it into your local store and see what they can do for you.
