There is a post on the MTV Multiplayer blog that has the first info, straight from singer Billy Joe from Green Day, we could possibly be seeing a Rockband: Green Day game announced soon.

Billy Joe first spoke about the news on Kevin and Bean’s Breakfast radio show on KROQ 106.7 FM. When asked when the game will be released, the singer said, “I’m not sure…soon. Like I think not this week, but this year soon…by the end of this year.”

Has Harmonix gone nuts with signing high profile artists to milk the Rock Band franchise? Maybe this explains why we never got any DLC from Green Day.

As much as I hate the oversaturation of the genre at this point...I will buy this day goddamn one.

shit...i would rather have a whole discography as DLC than have a separate game for an individual band....i do love me some green day though...wonder if kerplunk and 1039 stuff will be on there?

It'll probably just be a track pack like AC/DC since it's Rock Band. If it was GH, I could see them doing a whole game.

I'd prefer a greatest hits-ish selection of DLC, but I can see this selling pretty well. Wouldn't buy it as a full 60 dollar release though.

Ive been seeing a lot of Green Day ads for their new album so I wouldn't doubt that this would come out, guess it kinda capitalizes on their new album and the Rock Band popularity
The only people that pay for it are the consumers though, having to buy all this stuff at the highest price :/

The Beatles and then Green Day?

Hell no.

DLC pack at best.

Where the fuck are my Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns N Roses and Queen editions?

Green Day sounds much better as DLC. Beatles deserve a whole entire game.

I only lost respect for Harmonix when Lego Rock Band was announced.

AC/DC already happened, Led Zeppelin's afraid of giving out their masters, more Guns 'N Roses DLC could happen since Axl likes Rock Band and they've already put Chinese Democracy on there, and I'd love so see some Queen DLC after seeing Singstar Queen.

I'd expect DLC packs or a track pack at most.

Yeah, I'd guess track pack/album DLC. It could be reeeeeally easy for someone who isn't necessarily familiar with the game to mistake a big thing of DLC or something like the AC/DC track pack as "a game."

I don't care how much you love Green Day, playing them in Rock Band would be pretty goddamned boring.

It would just be yellow-green-red-green over and over for every song.

Judging from the online leaderboards from the Pearl Jam songs it seems like they sold about 15,000 copies of it (9,000 on 360, 5,000 on PS3 and 1,000 on Wii which are rounded up to account for individual song downloads). 15,000 x $20 = $300,000

I'd bet $1,000 that they lost money on whatever deal they worked out with Pearl Jam for exclusivity and are holding onto Green Day because they don't want to lose more money.

And it's just DLC packs. The first pack has three songs from the new album.

Can't wait for that one, as they've long been my favorite band.

I've stuck with Guitar Hero (didn't buy World Tour or any of the band games though), but I'll definitely at the least pick the disc up and play the PJ songs with my GH guitars.

Harmonix has announced that Green Day will be coming exclusively Rock Band, with the first selection of DLC becoming available next month. It's not their work from the '90s, or "American Idiot" for that matter, but it's a start.

The first set of DLC will be a three-pack consisting of the songs "21 Guns," "Know Your Enemy" and "East Jesus Nowhere." They're all from 21st Century Breakdown, the latest Green Day album, which was released on May 15.

Word that Green Day would be coming to Rock Band arrived on June 8, when vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong told a crowd at KROQ's Breakfast with Green Day, "Yeah. We're doing a whole Green Day Rock Band, uh," upon which he was cut off by cheering.

His statement suggested that a full-blown Green Day Rock Band might be on the way, but it looks like the releases will be limited to DLC. According to the release, additional Green Day songs and projects will be announced at a later date.

Look for the Green Day DLC three-pack on July 7.

Now that we know that it's not a standalone game and just DLC, please continue discussion in the official Rock Band thread.
