They sell it to your account right then and there at the current price by using the "presale" function. Any remaining balance sticks until the item comes out and they choose "deliver" to complete the sale.

I just thought I'd pay in full so my receipt says "Balance: 0.00" I understand that this deal is a long shot, but at least when the time comes, I can make the argument that I already paid it in full, and to charge me more after I fully paid for it just does not seem right.

Original 3? Tokyo Drift is #3 in the series. Chronologically the lastest one, the 4th one takes places inbetween movie #2 and movie #3.

For those that have to pay the buck that is YMMV because some stores let you pay the whole price but from experience it all depends on the employee(s) you deal with. This happened when I preordered Iron Man I had to pay the buck when I picked it up.

Then he said it was probably for just the fourth movie, single disc. I said 24.99 is still a good price for it, I'd like to preorder it. Then he strongly urged me to only put 5.00 down so that if I need to cancel it, I only have to get a 5.00 "store credit" instead of making it a 25.00 refund. Like it's harder for them to handle a 25.00 refund. And I don't know what all of that store credit horsepuckey is about. Agreed. Also, if it is a price mistake even a $5 deposit will guarantee that price. You don't have to pay it all up front. I know because there was a mistake on Watchmen 3 disc Director's cut on BD for 19.99. Put $5 down and locked the $15 final payment down. I figure it's well worth a try and if it doesn't work, no big deal. But if it does, I made out like a bandit.

Well I went and asked them to check if they had a Fast & Furious Anthology in their computer and the employee couldn't find it. I gave him the item # and it popped up for $24.99. I asked him, "This is the blu-ray, with 8 discs?" He replied "yes". I'm not sure how confident I am in what he said, but even if this is the Fast & Furious 4 Collector's edition, it's well worth the risk in my opinion. It's only $5, after all.

He also said, and I quote, 'That's what our computer says, but who knows what it means. They say some weird **** sometimes'.

So, for the naysayers doubting the original topic over at bluray forums -- the guy knew what he was talking about. What this product is though, we have no idea, seeing as how nothing's been announced as a box set for all four movies on bluray. Either way, this is NOT just for the fourth movie.

What I'm assuming it is, is that someone in the company saw the 4-Movie Collection DVD set and assumed there would be a bluray version, and put it into the system.

Either way, I can guarantee you that the people who have made a preorder of this product were doing so for a bluray, eight disc collection. The 8D is not a typo.

Ok, i pre-ordered it even though i am not 100% that i actually want it.. lol Anyway i put 5 dollars down and the receipt i got just showed what i preordered and it did not show the balance. I asked the clerk what was the balance on it and she checked my account and she said 19.99, so from here i guess we will see if they follow through on the price!!

Well, the problem is that you most likely didn't want in and say, "Hey, I'd like to preorder your bluray box set for Fast and Furious". There really wouldn't be much of an argument -- they agreed to sell you something and they ended up not having it for sale. They'd give you a refund, which is about all the entitlement you'd have. Not being mean here, just honest.

I don't know about marking them up. They sure are slow on bringing the prices down that's for sure. As far as I know new blu ray in most retail stores have a standard price of $29.99 and that's what 99% of Blockbuster's BluRays start at.

The first one I went to, I gave the #, they looked it up, told me it was the 8 disc Blu-Ray and that it was $24.99 + tax.

I said I would like to preorder and the girl says "I can't." I was thinking to myself, I guess it was a mistake and they figured it out.

Then she said, yea, the release date is about 10 days after our close date. You can preorder at the other store (local, about 10 minutes away.....same distance from my house, just opposite direction.)


If this goes through, this should move them right into Chapter 11.

OP I think you can officially call this one dead. None of the Blockbusters in my district received this, and my district manager recalled hearing about this error during one of his conference calls with corporate. Not sure why it wasn't removed from the system, but my guess is because people put preorders on it, and if they removed it right away then those people would be screwed.

The set was put in the system with a 'random' pricepoint of $24.99, but it does not reflect the actual price. I was the only one who ordered it at the store closest to me, and the manager confirmed that he 'canceled the order' because 'when rung up, it will say you still owe $75'.

He chose not to have it sent to his store since he didn't think anyone would buy it for $99.99. I guess it's very YMMV on whether or not your store manager will honor the price. I had paid for it in full, and told that it would not be honored because the price was just flatout wrong.

woa...that's some awesome news. I been waiting for so long for some positive news. i was assured that even if the price went up I was guaranteed that price for $24.99. I'm guessing those of you who only put down the $5 wont receive the honored price since you did not pay in "full" like some of us did. The BB associate told me that since I paid the amount in full there wouldn't be any issues with the price if it were to go up since my receipt shows no ending balance! thus they cant try to pull a fast one.

I've been watching this thread for a while and I find it to be rather interesting. I actually do work in a Blockbuster and have for 4 years. I'm an assistant manager and I can tell you that we have no copies of this set on order, despite having presold a copy. Anything we presell does automatically come in as an order, providing it is actually something we would typically stock. Whenever we get a Blockbuster exclusive, it is acknowledged ahead of time in our e-mails to further enhance the likelihood of us making an actual profit from it. If there was any chance whatsoever of us getting this set, it would have been in our regular shipment, which comes in 1 week before the actual release date. We got the single blurays of Fast and Furious, but no boxed set. I really doubt that anyone will have much if any luck getting this set. I'm also very curious to know what manager does their own ordering. Perhaps your Blockbuster is a franchised one, but all of the corporate stores have orders dictated by someone in our headquarters. We can not special order anything and have to have preorders done a week in advance otherwise we will not get that product.

All I can honestly say is that at corporate stores, we do not do our own ordering. If he cancelled your preorder, he went out of his way to do it. Once any payment is made on a product that is preordered, it automatically counts as a sale of the item. Think of it as a layaway of sorts. The price can not change as long as that item is preordered. It doesn't matter if you put down $5. or the full amount, it will definitely stay locked at that price. As long as that item does in fact exist...

The person that cashed you out just didn't know what he was doing. When you preorder an item the computer asks if you want to accept a deposit. If someone is putting an amount that is not the full amount you say yes and type in that amount (which also gets taxed at that time). Otherwise you say that you would not like to put a deposit down and it charges for the entire item up front.

Typically they would, but it's impossible for the system to order an item that doesn't exist. As of yet, I still have not seen any evidence that this one does.

Yeah, my store only received the newest one on BluRay. Not even showing the other 3 on order, only further solidifying my belief that this product does not exist anymore. It might have at one point in some form or another, but it currently does not. My store had 6 copies pre-ordered and not only did my store my receive them, but none of the other stores in the district either. You're more than welcome to wait it out. Yeah, the system isn't set up to add money to a previous preorder. But at the same time, it does lock in the price until you buy it, or until they credit the money back. I saw someone's account the other day that still had a Halo 3 preorder on it. So as far as I'm aware, it stays on the account indefinitely.

Because it knew its place: it was stupid, it was exotic, and it placed cars in the forefront. Just look at the Blu-ray covers... all of them place the characters (who, lets be honest, are not all that interesting or well acted) at the forefront, as if you give a shit about any of them, with the exception of Tokyo Drift which places the emphasis squarely on the cars.

While all the FF movies are stupid as hell, TD gets the stupidity in all the right places. And while I can't believe I'm admitting this, F&F is probably the worst, because it takes itself so seriously (which occasionally delving into Taken-esque levels of ridiculousness)... to think, I'd rather watch 2F2F than this.

Let me be the first one to break this news to all.

I just called my local BBV regarding my pre-order and in their system, it still clearly says "8 disc bluray collection." Unfortunately, they have not received anything like it or heard of anything like it. The release date for it is today (if such existed) and when I askef what I pre-ordered, she simply said she has no idea.

Well guys, looks like this one is over for me. The clerk was very nice and said she'll gladly refund my deposit. She was even very apologetic about the situation and I told her it's not her fault. I just told her that I thought maybe I could score an 8-disc bluray for dirt cheap! Ah... the
life of a CAG. :)

I agree that this deal is probably dead because i just got back from my blockbuster and after about 20 minutes of the guy searching the cabinets/computer calling other people from different stores he finally told me that they didn't recieve it yet and it was probably coming today or tomorrow off of the truck. lol I really felt like telling the guy that this product didn't exist but he worked really hard trying to find it for me. I will check back tomorrow afternoon after work to see if anything arrived but i highly doubt it and i will look to get my money back. Anyone else with a story??

Should have known that this wasn't happening. There was too much proof to deny. Plus you should have jumped in on the Amazon deal I posted a few pages back. I got all 4 for $15 out of pocket with Amazon's discount and my outstanding Credit. $66 wasn't bad for all 4 but that Promo's ended.

Just came back from BBV to get my refund. The manager spoke to the DM of the area and said no such item exist and as far as the SKU number being in the computer, he said he will look into it.

I used my $25 credit towards 2 for 25 BD sale and I got JCVD and Taken. I was going to get Fast and Furious by itself but I can't justify buying one bluray if I can get two.

Allegedly, no one knows what it is. This UK set is the only box set I've seen that has all 4(They should all be region free), should be around $60 shipped from amazon.
