The way it worked in the past anything you ordered during the trial would stay free shipping as long as it was ordered during the trial even if you chose not to extend your membership. One caveat being that after you cancel your Prime you can't change ANYTHING about the order or you risk having the free shipping knocked off.
I wouldn't think they could change that, because you were a "member" during the trial time.

I think in theory, yes, it would work, though I think they might give you some issues over it, if you went hog-wild and ordered a bunch of games with the trial.

I love amazon prime in general - easily pays for itself, especially with "family members" haha.
But yeah - I don't know if it would work - it's up to the Auditing gods of Amazon. Just like any loophole, it just depends on if a wandering eye happens to catch the mistake when the game you ordered 10 months after your prime trial ended is ready to go.

If Amazon is where you make a majority of your purchases, then yes, Prime is worth every bit of what it costs.
Barring an extreme deal somewhere else or the rare occasion where Amazon doesn't have the lowest price, it's really the only place I shop now.

my thoughts exactly. i used two trials almost back-to-back last year and decided to just pay for a full year's subscription. i'll renew this year too, since it's such a good value. with the dozens of 2-day orders i've placed, it's more than paid for itself, and then some.
and yes, i've received several games on release day, and of course they were free. great service.
the value really kicks in when you run across a hot deal on a game, movie, or other item that only rings up at $5, $10, etc.. and you only want one or two. saves you the trouble of adding "filler" items which you may not necessarily want or need. also handy for when you order an inexpensive item and decide 2-3 days later that you want another after all -- again, no need for filler items for a silly price threshold.

Amazon Prime is amazing. The earnings miss Amazon disappointed Wall Street with yesterday is basically due to all my free 2 day shipping. It really pays for itself in spades in no time at all.

If you're referring to the shipping, no, there isn't a limit.

The only limit is with your income.
I had the chance to get Prime earlier this year, but did not, thinking I would not use it enough.
Now, after ordering a ton of stuff...I regret it very much.
