What talent would you rather have? Musical talent or Artistic talent?

I consider myself a good artist when it comes to drawing. And I can play a few instruments as well, but I am more interested in art.

I'm slowly developing my musical talent. And since I'm not really good at drawing and I absolutely love piano (esp Beethoven), and can actually play decently, I must side with music talent. It's one of the enlightening things in my life that transforms my dull zombie-like induced coma of a life into actually breathing again... when I actually practice.

Musical talent seems much more lucrative in our society. It's just more accessible to the common man I suppose. So that seems to be the way to go in my mind.

Also, if you have musical talent you can get together with other musical people and play in a band or jam or whatever.

Artisitic skill is more solitary, I'd say. Unless you're like Jackson Pollack and you all just throw paint around and shit.

I am already musically inclined. I played the saxophone for a number of years. I also played the bassoon and trombone. I was trying to teach myself guitar last year before my uncle broke my fucking string on it. I took piano lessons but I am not as good at that as I am the sax. I haven't played piano in YEARS and probably suck now.

My drawing is ok if I take ALOT of time.

If I had to pick one, artistic ability would be my choice because mine is not as good as I would like it.

It really depends on my situation. While Artistic talenr is necessary for all manner of media hilarity, musical talent gets you lots of the ol' Pink-Demon. However, I think if I could keep my sense of humor (as in not wearing all black and making paintings called"Suffering in Africa" or "So much Evil") with which to utilize it, I would choose art for the long haul and just appreciate the musicl talent of others.

Bass guitar. I've never played an upright bass. My girlfriend always tells me I should play one though. I also have to buy a new bass guitar because the one I have now broke on me this weekend :(.

There has to be a better way to state the question. Is music not an art form?

For me it would be a tossup since I'm no good at either. I've never felt comfortable with attempting to draw outside of technical drafting, which I got fairly good at only to see it become an oddball skill once computers took all the work out of it. I spent a lot of time in my teens finding out how many instruments I could be bad at playing. I might have achieve some proficiency if I'd stuck with one but I always I'd reach mediocrity at best and gave it up as futile.

Artistic/musical ability shouldn't be mistaken for the mere ability to reproduce a composition or draw in an existing style. For every lead animator who set the style for an entire series or film there are a legion of peons who only get to mock his style endlessly to fill in the movement. For every composer there are a legion of players.

and to xzafixz....You never know who's going to show up on these internet sites.....There is alot I didn't say...I kept it simple compared to what I could have really revealed about myself.
Like I said, you never know who you might be talking to...
All that really matters is that I collect games and I like most of the people on here. I get great info and it helps me build my collection up while sharing finds.....If you knew me, you wouldn't consider what I said bragging because it's really just a small part of the bigger picture...

But I like to point out the other end of the spectrum. When you play in a band, you are dealing with other personalities as well as other creative differences. There may be compromises and such. Where as if you were painting, you are (usually) 100% in creative control.

Anyways....I wanted to point that out. Give you guys something to think about. Counter-arguments are also welcome.
