I think Target's price is the BEST, but is there going to be a BETTER version than this planned?

What about Blu-ray? Is this going to come out on Blu-ray at all?

And, it comes with a Magnet inside.

Should I Buy or wait?

I think Shout!'s website is going to offer the matrix collection containing all 4 seasons in a very cool box with extras sold only on line.

BR? Come on man this is 80's cartoons, not something done in the last 5-6 years. There are so many visual flaws from that series so you really don't want to see them stand out on BR.

All the details are here, Linkin: http://transformerscollectorsset.com/

They'll be selling them at SDCC too. The only question is whether it'll end up at regular retail as well.

Wait what? Remember the original source material have many animation errors, dust, dandruff and so on. Just because it's on BR doesn't mean it's going to be fantastic. I am still waiting on the final reviews of the discs to see the improved video quality of the season before buying the new discs. As for the animation errors, it would be expensive for any company to go back and redraw/animate each frame error.

Where did you hear that ITDEFX?

What are you talking about?

BigHow answered it...thanks BigHow!

EDIT: Wow that's a sweet bundle...Anyone know how it compares to the Rhino releases from a few years ago? I have that entire set, wondering if it be worth it to sell it and get this one.

If the super set is going to be $140, then I'd rather skip that bonus 60-page book and just get the individual season set releases.

Tough call. I want that set pretty bad, but $140 for 4 seasons seems a bit steep, when the first season can be had so cheap.

The whole set is like 16 dvd's and I think the rest of the seasons are going to be broken up into two parts.

So if you get 3 DVD's with the first set for $17 and it you continue that trend out with the other box sets your price will be closer to $90 for the whole series. I'm not sure if the rest of the seasons will be priced as low as the first though.. so your price for getting the whole series individually might be closer to $100-120 once the other seasons are released with possible higher prices.

I'm in for both GI joe and transformers sets... Can't wait to get them..

Season One is only 1/6th of the series (16/98 episodes). If the median price-point stays the same, expect to pay $120 for all of the individual sets at retail sale price. I can almost guarantee Target won't put the future sets on sale for $17. $20 minimum.

I won't touch Transformers or G.I. Joe until the series' box sets release, then see what's what...If the box set goes retail (DD or wherehouse.com, potential of 20% off new DVDs), that'll be the best way to go.

I'm just going to wait this out and see what my options are. That 140$ set looks pretty bad ass, and I'm going to have to get the Joe one alone with it.

$140 is Street...

Retail will cut it to 40% OFF - $80

I will wait and see.

Good things happen to those who Wait!

And what do you base this calculation on?

There is not even a hard date on when the matrix edition will be at stores.

As for Blu Ray, the publisher (I guess that's the correct term here) has stated that they will NOT be doing a BR release.

Over at Shout's message board, someone asked about the complete box set going on sale at retail and what does "Why supplies last" mean on the order page.

Here is Brian's response from Shout:

"...As for the "While Supplies Last" question... As of right now, there is a finite number of sets in the production run. The complete series set is expected to hit retail at an undetermined time down the road, but if we sell out online first, we will need to evaluate the need and costs associated with a second run and its release at retail.

Brian..."

Take this for what its worth, but it could be some time before the complete box set shows up at retail if this first printing sells out.

God Why are they SO HARD Assed at trying to be Greedy and NOT satisfy us Fans?

Limited Run. BS!!!

They just trying to see how many they can sell at an Expensive $140, before let Retail do it's Magic - Sales $100, $90, $80 instead of $140!!!

Economy is Crappy! I only work 2-3 days a week now, due to it.

I CAN'T afford no $140 set!!! For $80 I can certainly WORK with it!

From what I have heard, the reason that there will not be a Blu Ray release is because the masters tapes were lost.

I'm a huge TF fan, and I'm still just keeping my Rhino sets. I like the animation cels, I'm fine with the transfers/etc, I've already got 2 copies of the Movie...no need to spend another $140 on this set.

I do, however, need to go back and complete my Beast Wars/Beast Machines set.

Beast Machines *shudders*

That series was a disgrace to Beast Wars.
