No it's not, and the serials from the new Arcade units were not eligible for it anyway. Still a good deal, WM has the 60GB Starter kit for $100, so it'd kind of be like getting a Pro for $250 (without the component cables and the pair of games).

$145 after PM at FS/BB. You can even get it cheaper if you apply coupons and the PM at Staples.
Sooo tempting to get one after selling off my last one. I don't think I'll need the HDD or XBL either.

No harm in asking I figured.
I'm trying to find the cheapest knockoff component cables. Might have to visit EB,or better yet Microplay. I hope they have a used 20GB HD at least.
Now to pick up a game... Maybe I'll just rent something to start with.
Stupid question, you can't use a BT headset on Live, correct?

I bought a cheap knock off 120 GB hard drive from Ebay for $70. Works perfectly.
As for games, you should use Goozex. You can score some really great 360 games for dirt cheap on there.

I'm sort of wary of ebay. Never know what you're going to get, but I will keep it in mind.
I always wondered about Goozex, I'll check it out later.
I'm leaning towards picking up the Orange Box. But I also want to check out Left 4 Dead, Bioshock and Mass Effect.

No to HDMI. TV has DVI though. Folks have a 45" RP CRT TV. It does 480p/1080i. Pretty good picture actually.
I'd rather stick with component since it seems most TV's now only have 2 HDMI ports and I'd rather keep 1 free if I can help it.
I'm planning on using my HD-DVD player for 1 port and Blu-Ray for the other.
My audio receiver doesn't support video connections. Only audio.
Anyways, 1st I need a job. Ahh the life of a university grad in a recession.
Tales of Vesparia? Is that related to Tales of Destiny or Tales of Legaia? (might have the name wrong, but wasn't their a game with the same name on the GC?

$50+ for a newer chipset, better stability, and a little more memory. You could get a cheap 20GB drive for $50 I guess. But the newer chipset and lower power consumption could be priceless down the road.

Not worth it to me.
I'll just try to look for the 14.2v.
I'll play in dim light to help conserve energy.
Besides with the extra warranty from MS I don't see why it's an extra issue really.
Can get a 20GB HD from dealextreme for under $40 with shipping and component/hdmi cables for under $10.
Headset is also less than $10. So for about $60 you have your own premium version. - the wireless controller of course!

And there are plenty of Jaspers getting E74 problems, so a newer chipset isn't exactly failproof here.

The amount of fun you can have from getting a system now (and saving 50 bucks to boot) far outweighs waiting for a 'more reliable' unit imo (amount of time spent playing games pending obviously).
So far, my Falcon is still kicking as well as the Falcons of guys I know.

All the more reason that waiting for the new 1 or even not buying because it's not a jasper model doesn't really matter IMO.
Had it still been the original 90day warranty, well it would be a dif story then...

Lack of hard drive mainly. That and the wireless controller, and component cables and headset.
You can get everything for cheap on dealextreme anyways. Easily below the extra $150 difference, unless if you pay retail prices for everything.

Um... I'm pretty sure the Arcade unit came with a wireless controller.
So the only big thing you are missing out on is a hard drive, which means no downloading. I'm 50/50 about picking up an Arcade unit, and think that it might be worthwhile... retail games are my main interest, and I could always keep an eye open for cheap hard drives later.

You got choice between 20gb, 60gb ,120gb.
In reality for the 20gb you got like 12-13gb because of the Microsoft stuff. So you could install 2 games. On mine I usually have 1 games install because of all my arcade games.

You mean loading? If so I don't really care about waiting. At best I'd install 1 game at a time and that being a game I play often.
For the next little while I"m only going to be renting. So many games to try, so little time!

Ahh well, it was a longshot :) My warranty's up in december, but I had a rrod replacement back in may of last year, so I thought I might've been able to get away with ignoring this. It's so tempting to just rush out and pick up one of these as we can still probably sell our functioning units for enough that the difference is less than the cost of a warranty extension. And get a (hopefully) quieter, (hopefully) more stable system in the process. I'm twirling my beard here.

HD installs aren't necessary for any game, and they help to varying degrees on certain games. Mass Effect reduces load times and texture pop-in a lot, it's probably one of the games that benefit the most. Halo 3 is an odd one because it actually makes load times WORSE when installed to HD. Forza not sure.
No game is unplayable.. HD installs were only introduced last fall.
I find it hard to imagine having a 360 without a HD though.. you'd miss out on all the demos, xbox live arcade games, videos, DLC.

Halo 3 is actually worse once installed to the HD. Bungie did an incredible job on getting load times down from the disc.
Mass Effect kind of sucked, but I hear now that the elevator rides aren't even half as long!

I was thinking this one:
https://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.21408
Is this the right one?
Read the discussion at the bottom, you'll see all HDD sold on this site seems to be fake.
Plus: "customers may send the unit back to DX's Hong Kong office" = FAKE

Damn.
I've ordered from them before and had no problems.
Maybe it's just their xbox stuff that they suck with.
Grr...

Does this mean the old Arcades are being clearanced out for ... wait for it ... Natal Arcades?! dun dundun....
addone: You still have to butcher the sows and that ain't cheap or very clean either. :p
Those are still at least over a year away, they wouldn't be clearing these out so soon.
The more likely candidate is they are clearing these out for the new arcades that have 512 MB of flash memory built in (rather then including a memory card). Those are only in Japan right now but they will eventually make it out over here.

DX do sell some knock-offs and fakes, but they are usually quite good at not labeling them as real if they are not.

Couldn't find anyplace that had a Jasper arcade unit :( Lots of people had it for $150, even FS was going to match Zehrs' no tax price.

Walmart's runs at least until the 26th if I'm reading the flyer right, so you'll be able to price match anywhere that does so as long as Walmart's got stock locally.

I think you can forget about getting a jasper. They are on sale because they're trying to get rid of all the falcon units before introducing the jasper units.

Has anyone ever actually found a Arcade Jasper? I picked an extra 360 up at staples w/ coupon for $114 +tax, now I'm hitting all of the staples trying to find a Jasper, so I can exchange it.
Figure I have 30 days before I might return it.

Hey freak I can't answer your question, but Im wondering if it seemed like Staples had many instock.
I know my local BB and walmart sold out. And that coupon, I sign up for their email thing last week, is it too later to get one though?
Thanks

yeah, I think you may have missed the coupon. They get e-mailed out pretty regularly. You might be able to find one online if you search, should be easy to find at least a $20 off $150.

I've seem them before at BB, but only in the states :P
I have a tin-foil hat theory that MS just dumped all the Falcon arcades to Canada when Jasper was released since the Americans pretty much got Jaspers shortly after they were released.
Also explains the $149 sale on them too....sponsored by MS? ;)

When you check PROs or ELITEs at these stores, they are all Jaspers...
I dont need a new 360, I just wanted to get a quieter one. I'm not paying 300$ when I dont need what comes with it. Guess I'll have to endure the loudness of my old 360.
( I dont need the HDD, the controller, the headset, the free games that come with it and that I already have, the cable that I all have, etc.)
If I had to pay more than 200$ for a Jasper replacement I think I might as well get a PS3 instead...
