It can be a great deal, but it cant really be looked at as 67%.

For this site a DSi is probably a good example, $200 and get 40,000 points.

For a plus member, on a bonus redemption at the highest level, in a province that they have still been at $200, and assuming nothing has changed (we've missed some redemption days that occurred last year), thht has a maximum value of $123 (you need to amke additional purcahses to get enough points to redeem at $200 to get the prorated amount)

So you've spent $200, and got $323 worth of merchandise...but not really. You've got to pay tax on the extra $123 if you buy taxable merchandise like games. So you'll sepnd $200+tax, plus $16 (ON tax on $123), for $323 worth of taxable mechandise.

Which comes to the 20X day being a 34% discount on the total merchandise you'll receive by the time you redeem the points...but probably not.


Because *almost* everything at SDM is priced higher then elsewhere, it becomes very difficult to redeem the $200 for merchandise at the best available price. If you overpay (even much of the game stuff is higher then eslewhere), then there goes some of the 34% saving.

of course for those not a plus member, those who redeem at less then the maximum level or on non promo days, and those in provinces that have lowered the bonus redemption level, the 34% can fall pretty far down.

With the DSi the same price everywhere and the wii close its still a temendous deal for them.
