UPDATE 6-19-09
I was talking to the seller (xboxliveman) and he said that ebay will not allow him to list the cards anymore due to ebays policy of not allowing to sell items using email. The classified is the only way to do so. Here is the link for 30 dollar 4000 point microsoft points on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Live-Zune-4000-Points-Card-US-Region_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a 2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c29 3Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3911Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZi tem3353096fb5QQitemZ220436459445QQptZLHQ5fDefaultD omainQ5f0QQsalenotsupported

What you do is send the payment of 30 using paypal and he will send you the code. You will have paypals protection and as you can see from the posts here is he will give you a good working code (even if a bad one was sent). I just bought another one with this method and it response right away. Also remember the time difference when purchasing.

Hey everyone!

I was browsing ebay tonight for cheap microsoft points and found a great deal.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220437034426&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&salenotsupported (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_rdc=1&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR4 0%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D22043720371 9%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&item=220437203719&viewitem=&salenotsupported)

(The link is updated due to seller closed last auction link and opened a new one. The seller must have saw a big purchase difference due to this post.)

It says 38.99 but the person will take 30.00 as the lowest offer. I just purchased some an hour ago and it was a fast transaction. After the seller accepts you send money by paypal and I received the code 3 minutes later. I put the code in on xboxlive.com and everything worked fine. I am just spreading the word for everyone!

Yeah these are around e-bay all the time, nice on finding out it auto-accepts $30 though!

I've purchased from the seller xboxliveman as well, bought at ~3AM and got a code within minutes, so I can vouch for this one.

If you find out he will accept anything lower, please report back.

Well if you look at the purchase history of the seller it looks like 30 is the sweet spot since I did not see anything lower than that. Also if you look at the sellers store it will have a classified ad that advertises them for 30.

FYI, I tried lower offers and the seller does not accept offers for $25, $26, or $27. Now I can't get the points for $30 because ebay only allows you to offer up to 3 times... yep greed got the best of me.

Maybe it's a sign that I should play the XBLA games I already have instead of buying more points? =)

Oh well, i hope other cags can make the most out of this deal, seems like a good one at $30.

Yeah, just so you guys know, you can almost always get codes anywhere from $30 to $40 on eBay, just do a search, make it buy it now only, and then sort from lowest to highest price.

Just make sure you check feedback before buying codes from new sellers!

It’s too late for me to get in on this deal, but for future reference, what would happen if there was something wrong with these codes? Obviously if they turn out to be counterfeits, they wont work on Live, and you can just get your money back through Paypal. But what if they are legit, but stolen codes, and you manage to get them to work on live? Is there any danger of Microsoft finding out and doing something to your account (even if you had every expectation that the codes were legit)?

Everything should be fixed now. Check the first post again and click the link and send the seller a 30 dollar offer. You should be good to go. Microsoft can't do anything because there is no way to mark a stolen code. The only way they can mark it is by having it taken out of the system which shows up as an invalid code. I received my code and it worked fine so I am sure everyones would be good too.

Ok, in the "request a deal" board on here, there was a long thread when another seller had these for cheap. Some highlights and commentary:

its silly to speculate on where these codes came from. There are all kinds of ways to get these cheaper than retail. Unless you have proof, why not keep that to yourself because its pointless.

If Ebay finds out he is emailing codes, he will probably get shut down. If you complain to Ebay about anything he will probably get shutdown. If you scam him and PayPal dispute or whatever he will go away. Just keep all this in mind and don't ruin it for everybody else if you have a problem, reporting here is fine but don't go to Ebay.

Also, don't try to order too many at once because Microsoft has a limit on how many per day you can enter, I think 2. So with this guy screwing up and giving used codes (which I admit is starting to sound a little fishy because that shouldn't be happening as many times as has been posted in this thread), you want to be able to test these ASAP after getting them and having too many will screw that up.

You were one of the later ones to order, so since this guy is likely just going down the list chronologically, you should get yours soon. To see what I mean, just take a look at when people posted when they ordered and when they posted that they received the codes.

What's wrong with emailing codes? People do it all the time on Ebay.

I don't know the specifics and if it is a hard and fast rule or not, but the last guy selling a bunch of these to CAGs specifically requested IN CAPITAL LETTERS that there be no mention of receiving the codes electronically in feedback. I know there is a huge difference in how PayPal treats electronic vs physical delivery for disputes, etc.

Darrith
06-18-2009, 06:18 AM
Although digital delivery outside of a classified ad is against eBay policy, I don't really see a problem with it. Most people (everyone?) would rather have things like this instantly than waste their time waiting and money on shipping costs for a combination of letters that will be disposed of. I wouldn't order a lot of things if they weren't e-mailed.

With that said, due to the ease of Paypal disputes on digitally delivered items, the seller is exposing himself to being scammed with this method more so than the buyer. In fact there is basically no risk at all for the buyer here, but some people are stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds them. Keeping things hush hush in this situation is better for both seller & buyer, unless you're more concerned about a false sense of doing what's right and alerting a multi-billion dollar corporation that the little man is actually profiting.

Anyway, in for 2. We'll see what happens.

Not sure if you didn't read my post a little above yours, but please don't even think of filing disputes, claims, etc unless you exhaust all other options including comparing notes here.

And another poster claimed there is no limit to the number of codes you can enter at once. I can guarantee you there is. Maybe its based on the number of points you are trying to redeem, IIRC it stopped me on my 3rd 4000 points card when I bought a bunch at once before. Even independent of fraud, mistakes, etc. you DO NOT want these just sitting around unredeemed when they've traveled unencrypted through the public internet.

What reason would they have for doing that? They've built an empire on points.

He has to be sending codes out that have already been used (mixing them up). Seems almost like he's super disorganized about his whole buisness.

It actually sounds like he's using a code generator.

Hong Kong? Hotmail account? Accepting $20 less than it's worth? Only @60 feedback all from code based sales? Seems kinda shady to me.

flameofdoom666
06-18-2009, 08:53 AM
I bought 1 code, it came, and it said "This code has already been used."

I e-mailed him about it...

I am not reporting a thing as long as he e-mails me a working code, like he has done for many of you.

Reporting something like this, would ruin it for many people, and that's not cool.

Don't jump to conclusions. I didn't say anything about reporting it. It just doesn't seem legit in any fashion.

At any rate, I tried 2x @$25 and got rejected, but ended up buying a couple at $60 anyway. I have 30 songs on my Rock Band Wish List so here I come.

It was actually in response to a post 15 or so back, who said not to report him.

No offense, but what is it with the code generator accusations in these threads? If Xbox codes had ever been broken in the past, and if they were ever likely to be broken, how do you explain the expired points cards not really expiring? I think if the codes had been compromised MS would have to change the cypher and the first thing we'd see is all these old points cards being invalid.

Does anybody have any proof of any widespread code breaks and not just FUD? I mean, its a big deal if it really is a possibility, because there is always the chance MS can invalidate these codes at a later date and even affect content already purchased.

Does anybody have any proof of any widespread code breaks and not just FUD? I mean, its a big deal if it really is a possibility, because there is always the chance MS can invalidate these codes at a later date and even affect content already purchased.

I have a co-worker that uses them for Live access(or used to, it's been a while back since he mentioned it). Of course, that's not real proof. You can google Xbox Code Generator (http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1GGLS_enUS291US304&aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=xbox+code+generator) and come up with 5mil hits.

No telling how widespread it is or any repurcussions. If MS somehow finds out you used a bogus code, chances are they'll look at your point history to see if it is a recurring problem or one time issue.

One last thing, he seems pretty eager to resend out codes for non-working ones(why would he even have non-working codes?). I've sold Marketplace content with codes before and had the stipulation that there is no refund due to the nature of the product. It would be too easy for someone to input the code and claim it didn't work.

Today I sold all of my 4000 pionts out , But I cant sell at that price
again, because I cant get the cards so cheap again ! The cost of
mine have rised too more ! I am so sorry for that !
Tomorrow I can give your friends the price at $34.99 for each 4000
pionts , If buy more at one time , the price could be cut a little ,
please let your frineds Know that , Thanks a lot agian !

Jamaicanswif and Akino are sometimes late delivering codes, but I don't think anyone has had a non-working code. They've been a great service to CAG.

The new German guy occasionally gives out used or wrong codes, but it appears he'll correct the issue; we're not entirely sure if this is because he's overwhelmed or something worse, but people are getting working codes in the end.

Yeah I was 99% sure these codes were purchased with stolen credit cards, but I wasn't sure from where. Then I looked at Amazon's bestsellers list and notice they sell the game codes and the points cards are pretty high in ranking and rising. Looks like a part of that may be credit card fraud. These codes may be a "steal" in more ways than one.

Quick turnaround but only received one code when I paid for two. Hopefully I receive a response soon. Code that was sent worked perfectly.

EDIT: Already sent the second code. Everything turned out great. I should probably pick up some more to prepare for the Beatles RB onslaught but I should probably confer with the wife beforehand. Another $60 spent on MS codes and I might start to feel a little guilty.

I updated my first post. You can still get them from him for 30 dollars.

It sometimes is possible to get them cheap, Target had a huge sale once, and eBay cashback offer slashed the price 35% back then.

However there should not be much left of those, thus it's a little bit strange. I jumped at the beginning, before the discussion came to this point. The worst case scenario is losing 4000 points/$30.

I bought one from the "German" guy (from his name he's probably from Asia, so... well whatever), and got the code extremely fast and it worked too!

I was quite skeptical about the "German" guy, but I gave it a chance and just bought one code right now and received the code within about 10 minutes. It worked perfectly and I may even pick up another one, but I'm not sure if I really need anymore point at the moment.

I went ahead and bought 5 sets of 4000 ($149) from the German guy. It took 2 1/2 hours for the codes to come and I was about to send on an email to him but they eventually came. Its too bad that I could only enter two codes before Xbox.com said no more for me, whats up with that? These points will definitely help me catch up on my Rock Band DLC and all the arcade games I'm backed up on purchasing. I still might buy a couple of those cheap arcade games from akino even with my newly fat points wallet.

I definitely think this will help me buy games that akino doesn't get for sale (or just getting games at launch as opposed to waiting), but I think it will likely still be cheaper to go through him for games that retail at 1200-1600 points...not to mention I've had nothing but great experiences with that guy; he even gave me a free game of my choice after a little hiccup with the eBay feedback system!

I tried this one for 31 and the code was sent timely and it worked.
4000 point card (http://cgi.ebay.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Live-4000-Points-Card-Code-Fast_W0QQitemZ370214838452QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item56328620b4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C 301%3A1%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A50)

Tried this guy, but when I entered the code on xbox.com it said, "Please enter a valid code." Before emailing the guy back, I decided to try it on zune.net, and it went through perfectly. Just a heads-up to anyone else that might have that issue (Xbox points and Zune points are interchangeable).

Wow, the MS 4k points code is now the #1 bestseller in Amazon's videogames section. Coincidentally that item is now the #1 most stolen item on Amazon (but that list is unpublished).

Thanks for the info. I found Akino's ebay store, he's got great prices on several XBLA games I've been thinking about getting. Do you have a link for Jamaicanswif's store?

Edit: I forgot to add that I picked up two of the 4000 MS points from Kurhn_de, the German seller. My codes arrived within seconds after completing paypal's checkout and both codes worked fine. Wicked deal!

Did you just paypal the $30 to his email? I did that this morning and still haven't see anything. I do know they are in night time now, but seemed weird just sending funds through paypal. I like the German guys set up better, should have just spent the extra .99 to get it immediately.

I contacted him first and asked how to proceed, and he said I should just Paypal the money and then he'd email the code to the address I specified.

He responded pretty quickly to my initial inquiry but I'm still waiting on the code... hopefully this goes through :???:

The reason the Hong Kong seller had to switch to this method is stated in the OP.

Everyone needs to be aware that paying through PayPal is a secure method. Obviously though make sure you contact the seller and advise him you are going to make a payment before doing it.

Well his email is right on the ebay listing so you can just send funds by logging in to paypal and sending funds, however others have said they emailed him first before doing this, I did not, so we will see.

Glad to say that xboxliveman (the seller currently linked to in the OP) came through! I got the code emailed to me within the 8 hour time period allotted in the item description (I checked the timestamps on the confirmation emails and there was actually a 7hr 59min gap between my payment and the code email, lol).

I was suspicious about the nature of this deal, but I'd say it is worth your cautious optimism until we have a concrete reason NOT to trust this guy. Feels good being 4000 points richer, yay!

I believe so. He also linked to this thread, and the multiple auctions throughout. A guaranteed way to get deals like this either killed for everyone, or to have the deals pulled by eBay when the interest is increased 2000%.

Got 8k points from German guy. Tempted to get more but this should hold me over for now and I'll search for another like this when I need more points. Anyways, the person who posted this on slickdeals. That was not a good idea. Deal will probably die soon. :(
