Someone wants to bid and pay for one of my auctions using a money order.
I've never dealt with MO's before, especially on eBay.
Would I be safe accepting that as payment?

They're fairly safe (there are counterfeit money orders, but they're not very common), but I'm not even sure eBay allows you to accept money orders anymore. Only in certain categories like motors. Doesn't mean you can't still do it, but personally I never mess with them, especially if it's coming from someone with really low feedback. If they have good, high feedback it should be no problem, but if you don't feel comfortable with it I'd just tell them it's against eBay policy:

For an eBay auction? No. eBay doesn't allow checks or money orders anymore as payment. You agree to these terms when you use eBay.
It's easy to get scammed with a money order, and when you complain to eBay they won't help you at all because you weren't allowed to accept them in the first place.

Ditto what everyone else has said. If you do for whatever reason decide to take the MO, only accept an MO issued from the USPS. You can take MO's from the USPS directly to them to cash them and if there is any problem with the MO, then you can just walk out the door w/o mailing the item. If you accept a bank issued MO and take it to a bank to cash, then it takes several days if not weeks before the bank can find out it was a bad/fake MO and will charge you fees like crazy.
Note, I've never accepted an MO through Ebay before, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Seriously though, I did some research on it a year or so ago in some Ebay listing forums and this was the suggestion I walked away with as the safest bet.
