Last month I bought a paintball gun on eBay. The auction said it was in "like new" condition, "ready to play," and "all in excellent working condition."

So I get the paintball gun, and it doesn't work. My best friend's brother plays paintball all the time and after he looked at it, he determined that the drop forward didn't work.

I messaged the seller about it, and he apologized and agreed to refund me the cost of a new drop forward. My friend's brother bought me a new drop forward and installed it. Now the seller won't respond to my messages. I opened up a dispute about a week ago, and he hasn't even responded to that.

Now I'm ready to escalate it to a claim. My question is: can I request a partial refund, and if I win, not have to send back the paintball gun? Or should I just go for a full refund and send it back?

File a claim now. You probably won't have to send it back or ever hear from the seller.

If he didn't track it somehow then he's also screwed. Get a full refund.

I'm not trying to be dishonest like this turd of a seller was. But, if I ask for a partial refund in the claim and win, would Paypal require me to send the gun back?

I personally have never done a partial claim, only full and I was required to send the item back.

Don't do a partial refund unless your somewhat happy with the item. Unless the seller accepts it you'll be screwed. Everytime I did a partial and the seller didn't accept/went to paypal for the dispute paypal said something along the lines of not supporting partials. I forget but just don't do it please. Do a full refund or be a dick and charge back lol.

Only time I did a partial with success was when my DOA4 stick had a non-working button and I got refunded $10, since I just had to open up the hori and have my dad resoder it and make it work again.

I went for a partial refund ($200 out of $250) and won, because the seller didn't respond. I originally asked for a refund for the cost of the part that needed to be replaced. The seller agreed. When I told him how much...I never heard from him again. Now it ended up costing him $200. I checked last night, and Paypal was able to recover the full $200 that I asked for. Had the seller not been a jerk, he would have only lost $45.
