Is this deal at Best buy?

Yep. That's what the BB in the title means.

Assuming you have to pay about 8% tax on all 3 games, and each game being $30 that comes out to about $22.50 per game. That actually beats the price I get them off amazon after ECA (27.99*.9 = $25). And nothing quite beats coming home with 3 brand new video games!

Just checked their online selection. And it's quite lacking.

They have two games I want

Mario bros, chrono

third one i want is ace attorney 4 but they don't have it. Maybe they have it on BM stores?

I don't wanna make a trip to the store. It's located quite far.

Nice, this will make up for none of the games I wanted to use for the Gamestop coupon being available in my area.

In for Devil Survivor, Knights in the Nightmare and Starfy.

Anyone have any idea if best buy discount coupons will work for this? I have some in the mail that give 10% off and they expire the 6th of July, if I can combine those with this deal that would be amazing.

There is a distinct lack of Henry Hatsworth mentions in this topic. Just throwing that out there as a reminder for those who are trying to decide on what to get. There's also the recently released Dawn of Discovery (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228161) to consider, the sequel to the highly praised city-builder Anno 1701 DS.

I was actually just about to post that. If anyone is looking for something to try for free, I would definitely try it. I just got it and it's pretty great. I think it's my favorite DS game right now.

I may be in for Devil Summoner, Dragon Quest IV (or V, whichever I can find), and Professor Layton. Maybe Fire Emblem DS. I actually have way too many games that I want to try.

I wonder if the Chex Mix coupon will work on the 2 games you have to pay for price for?

Say, you get 3 $30 games, have the register chick give you the free game and then give her the coupons and get $3 off each game you're paying for. Then you $54.00 + tax and get 3 games for an average of about $18 before tax.

Worth a shot since those coupons expire this month.

I doubt they will let you do that deal, but honestly, the best thing to do right now. is just go and ask.
thats what I always do.
either that or buy them now, (spend the extra 30 or so bucks) use your coupon.. then go back on Sunday and use ur receipt to get the price difference, and since you used the 10% on all 3 initially you end up saving 2/3 dollars more once they go back and give u the one game for free

Do you have the Laptop Sales? also if there is any financing specials or double reward points like this week?

Black Sigil.

The random encounter rate may be too high, and it's a little buggy, but I had a lot of fun with it, and anything I stick with for 40+ hours is good in my book. Just don't go in expecting it to match Chrono Trigger, or start really rolling until 10 hours or so in.

Also, Suikoden: Tierkreis was fun. It may not be a "proper" Suikoden, and it's a tad too easy, but it's good stuff. And don't forget about Super Robot Taisen: OG Saga.

That Wii deal is really tempting, but I was just at Target the other day and their pricing is not at all competitive with other B&Ms like Fry's, and even Best Buy had better pricing on some games.

One way to look at that is if you buy two $49.99 games and get the 2nd one 50% off, you're basically paying $37.49 per game plus tax, which at 8.75% in CA makes each game $40.77. A lot of newer games are only $47.99 on Amazon, so this deal would save you $7.22 off each game.

If you got two $19.99 games (like say, a couple LEGO games), after taxes the deal comes out to $16.30 a game. That's about a $3.19 difference compared to buying the same games off Amazon.

Just some things to think about.

Should be fine, although that would be YMMV depending on the manager. My guess would be that he/she would take those games "off sale" for that week and see what sells for the B2G1 deal and then put them back "on sale" the next week. (Although that is what I would do if I was the manager and wanted to make it profitable)

.....or you could just get the three this week and come back in the next week and have them adjust it to suit the B2G1 deal.

Don't forget to join Best Buy's Reward Zone and their Gamers Club. Those game purchases will go a long way to 500 bonus points for an extra $10 reward.
And toward the $2500 BB Silver Reward Zone level, if you are in the market for anything higher priced this year. I made it last year at the last minute, because Mom needed a new TV (thank you, Black Friday!). This year, it was 2 laptops.

Now I need to say something on topic . . .

Yeah, I'll have to look at the entire canon of DS games. I don't have one, but Mom does! ;)

What's so great about the "Silver" RZ?

If you shop there a lot you might find some of this useful to you:

You earn bonus points (25% on reg purchases / 50% on purchases with BB RZ Mastercard) on each purchase rather than $1 = 1 pt.

You get standard free shipping on all BestBuy.com purchases.

You have 45 days to return items purchased rather than the standard 30 days.

Ability to bank points so that you can save them up rather than have them spit out at the standard intervals that you can choose from if you want to save them for something big.

Special Silver Only member events.

Dedicated phone line so you can by pass the regular BestBuy customer service line.

1 Geek Squad Home Theater consultation per year (worth $99.99) and that includes a coupon worth $100 off a home theater system $499 and up.

Just a heads up, this might be just an isolated YMMV incident, but I picked up Starfy, Rhythm Heaven, and Pokemon Platinum today. Now usually these B2G1 free sales give you the cheapest game for free, but I wound up getting Platinum ($5 more than the other two) for free. It was the last game the clerk rang up, so I'm wondering if this sale is just going by the number that the games are rung up at, rather than figuring in the cheapest game as the freebie.

I was the first one to checkout at my Best Buy today, at 11:10 AM, so for all I know this possible fluke in their systems may have been rectified by now.

Thanks OP's! I was able to hit the Best Buy in Florence, KY to pick up Legendary Starfy, SMT: Devil Survivor, & Knights in the Nightmare. Though the 10% coupon didn't work, I can confirm that the the third game is free, even if it happens to be the most expensive of the 3. I didn't purposely give the cashier KitN last, but she scanned it as the free game, which was the most expensive of the 3. With GC's from recycling computer monitors (a $20 fee offset with GC's) and $15 in RZ certs, I paid $27.xx out the door - very nice!

I also stopped by TRU to pick up the Conduit and to get the $10 GC for purchasing it. I was able to stack the 15% coupon off the game, plus use a $10 off a $50 purchase or more coupon we got with a TRU mailer, so I walked out with the Conduit $32.50 plus a $10 GC that will go towards diapers/wipes - ah the joys of parenthood! At my local Target, it was the games listed in the ad plus 4 or 5 crappy games. I argued to try and get it but ended up just saying fuck that couch and seeing if Walmart or BB will price match.

I did the BB deal twice today:

Boogie - $9.99
Henry Hatworth - $29.99
Final Fantasy Echoes of Time - FREE

Army Men - Soldiers of MisFortune - $9.99
Naked Brothers Band - 6.00
Chrono Trigger - FREE

So $56 + tax for 3 games I wanted, and I immediately flipped the 3 junk games for $9.75 in GS credit. I know BB clearance deals are YMMV but if you can find any DS games for under $10, this is quite a great deal.

Hmmmmmmmm... I know my bestbuy has a ton of DS games on clearance (all junk). But if I could do something like that to get a $30+ game for free, and then flip the junk to get a few bucks back, this could be even better than originally planned. I'll have to check this out tomorrow and see if I can get anything good to work out.

Its honestly at your particular BB's Discretion if they match a deal or not....
Sometimes they do, Sometimes they will meet you half way

like 2 weeks ago when Toys R us was giving away 20 gift card for buying ghost busters i went to to Best buy and they were only willing to do 10 dollars off

Picked up Devil Survivor, Suikoden Tierkries and Final Fantasy IV at Best Buy. Had some RZ certficates so $54.39 for 3 games is a pretty good deal. :D

That's hilarious, as that is what I was looking to get for my three DS games. But, it looked like my local BB had put away most of the Square titles...I always see FFIV there...tons of copies. But, I got there right as they opened, no way they could have sold that many in 5 minutes time.

Anyway, I got SMT: Devil Survivor, Suikoden: Tierkries, and Professor Layton. I've been wanting to play Devil Survivor, as I loved P3FES. Suikoden is another one I wanted, as I played the original on my PSP, after buying the PS1 Classic digital release. And, Professor Layton has intrigued me, and I love Level 5, so I feel good about my purchases.

:)

My wallet didn't need more money being spent, though. It came out to $23 each, which is a good deal, to me.

Can anyone confirm if the third-game-free-glitch at Best Buy is still working as of Monday?

I can confirm of the third-game-free-glitch still works as of today. It was quite a hilarious process though.

The cashier, which I suspect was fairly new at the job, rang up all three of my games (Rhythm Heaven, Ninja Gaiden, Peggle) with the first being the most expensive game, Rhythm Heaven. When she rang them up, the total came to around $70.xx because the deal was not active. I told her that it was supposed to be a B2G1 free. She called the manager over, browsed through their own weekly ad for 3 minutes and then he manually typed in the cheapest game for free.

As the new total came in, she asked if I was a RZ member and I said yes. She inputed my information in, I hit confirm, and then all of a sudden it gave both Peggle and Ninja (both $20) for free. She then became lost and confused and a fellow cashier came to help. She went back a few pages to when all three games were charged and then the message popped up on the computer screen prompting them of the B2G1 free DS deal. It then rang up Rhythm Heaven for free.

As this whole thing was going on, me and my friend were just holding in our patience and laughter. As I swiped my credit card for payment, both cashiers knew that the cheapest game was not credited and wispered to each other to be quiet to the manager about this!

It took some unnessary time, but it was worth it. I want to try again later this week, but I'm not going to be too hopeful this will happen again easier.

I picked up Blue Dragon Plus $17 Hotel Dusk $19 Suikoden Tierkries (free $34.99) $41 total
then went back and picked up Final Fantasy Echoes $39 Devil Survivor $29 GTA Chinatown (free $34.99). The cashier scanned Final Fantasy last but GTA being a mature title apparently had a pop up to confirm age and it didn't get scanned till after FF bc he didn't notice the pop up the first time around but only $5 I lost there and ended up with 6 games for $20 a pop not too bad imo for new copies.

I had something similar with Devil Survivor at the first Best Buy I went to. It was listed as available on the site but nowhere to be found on the store shelf. I was too hungover to bother anyone to look for it so I went home and slept some more then got my games at another store later. :D

Anyway, I am really surprised this glitch has not been fixed yet. When I bought my stuff yesterday, I had Suikoden on the bottom since it was $5 more than the other 2 but the cashier flipped them over before he scanned them. Probably a good thing because I'm sure I would have felt guilty about it afterwards...lol.

How are you guys getting them to scan the games in your preferred order? (expensive one last)

The DS games at my BB all come in the security cases, so its not simply a matter of stacking them correctly. Usually once they take them out of the cases the cashier scans them in random order.

Well it's a hit or miss, You give him/her on a stack expensive one first. As he/she takes of the security cases he/her will then stack them again now the expensive one at the bottom.

But, I guess it all depends on how the cashier does his/her thing.

I'll probably head in after work to check it out anyway, but my hopes aren't high.I ran into the same issue with the BB.com website for Sonic Chronicles and Broken Sword, though if you call the store and give them the SKU #, they can check to see if it's in-stock. My store found copies of each and put them up at customer service with my name on it.

When the BB.com website shows that it's not in-stock for in-store pickup, it could be two things:

1) There's 0-2 copies of them in-stock. BB.com shows it's available for in-store pickup if there's 3+ copies on-hand.
2) Someone tried to order it for in-store pickup and the runner for fulfilling the order couldn't find it in the store, and marked it as NO PICK. Once that happens, there could be 1, 10, 100 or 1000 of the item and it won't allow for in-store pickup. A manager in the store has to fix the issue with the NO PICK and allow for in-store pickup again.

Option #1 is the much more likely cause for it not showing it being in-stock than Option #2.

I'd recommend calling the store with the SKU # and see if they can physically locate it, if RSS shows they have 1 or 2 copies (or more) on-hand. If they have it, ask them to leave it at the CS desk for you.

Because if they were to ask why, you'd be bringing more attention to the glitch than you might want. Only takes one eager beaver of a checkout clerk to call over a manager esp. if they think you're trying to pull a fast one on the store.

Yup like i said earlier 4 of the 6 games i bought stated that my store did not have them. But i did grab the last copies of 3 of them, but still worth a shot. :applause:

I have a similar question. The game I want is currently not in stock at Best Buy. Is it possible to have the "free" third game be of equal value as the out of stock game; then exchange the "free" game for the game that I want went it is restocked at Best Buy. Thanks.

Just went back to Best Buy and got Legendary Starfy, Professor Layton and Retro Game Challenge for DS along with PS3-Eat Lead for $9.99 with the Gamer's Club coupon. I now think I am close to getting in the Guiness Book for largest video game backlog. :D

The glitch is alive and well as of Tuesday around 7 PM Pacific. All three of my games were in plastic casings. I put the two cheaper ones down first, and kept the third one under my arm. The girl at the register immediately started to scan and take the first two games out of their plastic casings as I reached for my wallet. I then put down the the third game after pulling out my wallet, and she scanned it last. The computer came up with some $90 total and she repeated that to me, but before I could even get the words out to say one should be free, the computer slowly took off the third game, and the girl just said "Oh it looks like you get one free" and I just said "Oh yeah. Ok."

I got Henry Hatsworth for $19.99, Super Mario 64 DS for $29.99, and GTA Chinatown Wars for free, originally $34.99, for a total of $54.35 after taxes.

That makes each game $18.11 if you want to look at it that way.

The Best Buy I went to had rather slim pickings. A lot of stuff was OOS. There was one Chrono Trigger for $19.99 hidden behind another game - I think a lot of people here have been getting that.

The only other games in stock that interested me were Flash Focus, Rhythm Heaven, and Guitar Hero Decades and/or Modern Hits.

Touchmaster 2 and Kirby Superstar Ultra were sold out. Other stores have Touchmaster 2 in stock, but I'm not sure Touchmaster 2 and Flash Focus are even worth $18ish

The LEGO versions of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Batman are all temping and would come out to $14.49 each, but with the Wii versions rapidly approaching that price, I'm not sure I want the DS versions - unless anyone knows of a reason why the DS games would be a better buy.

I think it'll just this one round of games for me.

I picked up Hatsworth, Retro Game Challenge, and Knights in the Nightmare earlier today. Unfortunately, they flipped the stack as they took them out of the security cases. It occurred to me after the fact that I should have put Hatsworth in the middle, so that regardless of which way they flipped it I'd still at least get RGC for free if not Knights. :(

I suppose I could always return them all tomorrow and rebuy them. :p

Henry Hatsworth 19.99
Personal Trainer: Math 19.99
Personal Trainer: Walking 49.99 ->FREE

No Chrono Triggers at my store, but with the universal drop, I'll get it used at Gamestop later this month in the B2G1. Unless I can think of another higher priced DS title . . .

My guess is that the number of people who are doing it intentionally is comparatively small. That said, they HAVE to be aware of it by now, right?

Glitch still working as of about an hour ago.

Haha, okay, so as I mentioned before, when I went yesterday, the guy flipped my stack ($20, $30, $35) as he opened the security cases, so I ended up with the $20 game free instead of the $35 game.

I returned everything today and made a second attempt, this time ordering my stack as $35, $20, $30 (with the $20 game in the middle to avoid the worst-case scenario). Except this time the girl DIDN'T flip the stack. >_<

Should have used the "pretend to read" maneuver, but I still ended up with the $30 game free, and that's good enough for me. $5 loss is more acceptable than $15. Truly, we are the cheapest of ass gamers.

Can you get six games at once and the last 2 games be the free one?

Also, instead of pretending to read, you can take two games, have them scan the others and just tell them that you're debating which one to get and then give them the game once they scan the other two.

Just hang on to the most expensive one under your arm. Its a sure fire way to get it free. Or if two games are the same price, just sandwich them. There's no reason not to milk this for all its worth. Now I'm really tempted to go back and spend money I don't have to get that $50 GH:ON:MH game, especially since it says online that Kirby Superstar Ultra is back in stock at my store...

When the BB.com website shows that it's not in-stock for in-store pickup, it could be two things:

1) There's 0-2 copies of them in-stock. BB.com shows it's available for in-store pickup if there's 3+ copies on-hand.

This information from Shrikey caused me to visit my closet Best Buy. Turns out that they have TONS of games I'm not used to seeing, such as Lux-Pain, Shin Megami Sensei: Devil Survivor, Dropcast, River King, and so forth. They just have 1 to 2 copies of almost everything I saw, even Pokemon Platinum, which so many stores seem to have 600 copies of.

I returned the three games I got the other day (Sonic Chronicles, Henry Hatsworth, and FFCC: Echoes of Time -- so wanted to keep that...), but I ended up getting games I wanted way more: Broken Sword, Avalon Code, and Dragon Quest V! Yes, for those that have seen me post over and over about how I'd be willing to trade for DQV, I finally have it! So happy! :bouncy:

The more I read these posts, the more I am surprised the morality police have not descended on this thread yet. I remember several of them being around when Target had the buy 2 get 1 on PS3 games and people were talking about buying games at Target then taking a new, shrinkwrapped game back to the place they bought it the week before. This pushes the limit WAY farther than that in my opinion.

When i was out on the other side of town today i stopped in at the Best Buy (larger one) and tried to pick up some games their. This time my games were in cases so i knew my original stack from highest to lowest method on the counter wasn't going to be so easy . Low and Behold he flips the stack over and starts ringing them up backwards and through the case as someone else mentioned) :bomb:

But heres the good part. Since i was with my wife, she interrupted him while he was ringing up the last game since she saw my reaction to what he did. And asked if he could do her a huge favor and ring everything up in a different order (was also buying a CD), Of course he said "Yes" but was i bit confused but willing to accomodate. So me thinking on my feet knowing what she was trying to do, I convincingly blurted out "OCD strikes again!" which he totally bought. And she tried putting them in order, i helped out since she still put them in the wrong order, all in numerical order from Lowest price to Highest (cd first since it was 7.99). And He totally bought how it all had to be in order.

Cliff Notes: Anyone looking for a method for gettin gyour most expensive game for free, is to try the MONK method

And Lastly my pickup was:
Broken Sword - $19.99
Blue Dragon Plus - $23.99
Dragon Quest V - $FREE (39.99)

Got Ninja Gaiden, Nanostray, Devil Survivor, and a coke for $24.51

The first two were "manager specials", so I took them over to customer service since they have to manually adjust the price to $10 on the first two. If I go to a regular cashier, they would need someone to go and override it and the manager who goes might not let it go through.

He adjusted it and I gave him Devil Survivor as I tried my "deciding which game I want method" and decided on Devil Survivor over My Math coach.

He hit total and presto, an average of $7 per game.

Best Buy is a giant publicly traded corporation who should have oversight for this kind of ridiculousness, unless they're so overflowing with DS games on the shelves they just don't care.

If they're going to give us any game for free, I don't see anything immoral about scoring as many free games or flipping any free games to make yourself a profit provided you're not defrauding anyone. If you buy two games and get GH Modern Hits and then sell GH MH for $40 and pay for your other two games, good for you, Best Buy should have been more careful if their intent wasn't to give you any game for free.

A publicly traded company worth billions or whatever surely could afford to do a little oversight on their deals, or double check their computer entries for discounts. Some intern is going to be crunching the numbers on how successful this discount was in a few months and realize people were scoring big games for free. Oh well.

I got three games on Tuesday:
Mario Party DS $30
Professor Layton & The Curious Village $30
Kirby Super Star Ultra FREE

I went back yesterday and got a bunch more knowing about the glitch but not knowing if it was fixed yet so I made the checkout lady do the $20 games separately from the more expensive ones just in case the cheapest would be free:
Moon $20
Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir $20
Peggle Dual Shot FREE
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure $20
Big Bang Mini $20
Boing Docomodake DS FREE

Did these on the separate order and tried to get Personal Trainer: Walking ($50) scanned last:
Rhythm Heaven $30
The Legendary Starfy $30
Personal Trainer: Walking FREE

I tried to only get games that were more then $20 from Nintendo because they rarely drop in price. I was going to get Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games but it finally dropped from $35 to $20 at GameStop today and I didn't have two other games to pair it with. Overall with this and the GameStop deal (Got Wheelman/HAWX/Bionic Commando for $20 each) this was a great couple of days for my collection.

That sucks bro. I just scored Dragon Quest IV (very well hidden on the rack, pissed off a BB employee who wanted to buy it since it was obviously the last copy. Sorry buddy..), Layton and Personal Trainer:Walking for $60. I am damn happy right now. I spent about 160 at the sale and wound up with 9 games.

I just went up to a teenager who was obviously new to BB and asked her to tell me how much the two cheaper games cost because I wasn't sure if I had enough money. As she did that I just said 'Oh...maybe I want a coke' and walked over to the cooler with Personal Trainer in my hand. When I got back both games were scanned so I just gave her Personal Trainer and she scanned it last. It was pretty slow in there so nobody paid any mind.

Unless we get another incredible sale in the next 5 months, this is my 'deal of the year.' Thank you: MidnightMetal!
