Big Azz sale at Big Lots on Warner Bros. sets (with some Hanna Barbera cartoons, and a spot of HBO DVDs) Originally the sale was only for 6 dollar sets, as advertised in their circular ad, but now they've added $3 and $10 sets. (These $3 and $10 sets, while currently ringing up at the correct prices, are supposed to be withheld for the 07/26 sales ad, which would explain why there may be trouble seeing them early, depending on your store)

Lots of other sets have been found... Definately YMMV as to what you find at your location, mine have yet to get this shipment in.
According to members at DVD talk, other memorable titles have been the ten year super bowl sets, thundercats sets, one guy found the complete Wonder Woman series... A few have found the BLU-RAY of smallville season 6 I believe... Seems to be the only blu seen however...

Hardly 1/3. If this is what I think it is, it's only ONE disc released individually. There are 6 discs for each half of each season. That would be $6 for 1/12th of a season.

You can buy season 1 v1 & v2 for about $20 each now, and S2 v1 & v2 for about $10 (not sure why S2 got so oversaturated to drop that low in the secondary market). Check Amazon marketplace sellers for the best deal.

I went to Big Lots today, they didn't get this shipment in yet.

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread! Went to the closet Big Lots here in Houston (919 Shepard) and found an overflowing 4 sided turnstyle cabinet and four shelf endcap. They had tons of dvds, seasons and they even had old PC titles and a few VHS cassettes.

the most notable they had:
- Pinky and the Brain Vol. 2 (no animaniacs)
- Super Friends Vol. 2
- Six Feet Under, S3
- Dukes of Hazard, S5 & S6

These were all $6, standard DVD's ranged from $3-$6, I had to stay away from those or I could have done some serious damage. I couldn't believe how semi-current they are (6 mos to a year old)

Also, my stores are telling me they get trucks in Thursday, and to check Friday or Saturday if their stock has changed. Something to keep in mind if your stores are the same as mine.

Drew Carey was good the first 4-5 seasons, and then the rest of the show is garbage. More so when Kate leaves to go to work on Scrubs, that was horrible.

Im watching it on youtube right now. I thought it jumped the shark around s6. I'm on 8 now, so maybe it'll turn around soon.
I think season 8 and 9 were great. This was when ABC still had to either produce the show or pay out the contract even though the show had turned into a huge ratings bomb, so they were burning out two episodes a week during the summer for two summers. They tried more things with the show, including some single camera scenes. It seemed like to me they were trying to be less mainstream and it was better for it.

It's hard to describe when the show started to become unfunny. Season 6 might be a good place to start. I just fondly remember season 1 as being clever, and legitimately well written.

This is the season with actual REAL people as guest stars (Don Knotts, Mama Cass, etc) as well as inter HB Universe guests stars (Speed Buggy, Batman & Robin, Blue Falcon). These are NOT movies, but the "1 hour long" episodes that started after the original Scooby Doo series ended. Just might wanna add the correct title to the OP.

Also, I thought it was Smallville S7 on Blu, not S6.

Now, they have a little bit of everything except for Animaniacs. I picked up Pinky and the Brain season 2 and Drew Carey season 1. There were lots of randomly numbered seasons of other shows; I can remember:

I went to three of them today. The first was in Utica NY and of course it was picked over as it's right on the edge of the poor section of the city and it has high traffic of scum shopping there at all times. I can rarely catch a good bargain there. I managed to see 3 sets (Wonder Woman 3 pack and 2 Friends), all was in the wrong places scattered though the store.

Then I went to Rome NY, which is sorta in the middle of no where and they had about 10 sets total. I got 4 sets there. Then I went out to cowtown Oneida, NY and it was the motherload with lots of extra sets in stock! About 80 in total!!! If anyone lives in Central NY (Syracuse or Utica area), you may want to check out the Oneida store. They had several copies of each:

Geez, this thread is going to have me hunting at Big Lots now. I really want those Animaniac and Pinky & The Brain sets. Are they just regular single DVDs, or are they in a somewhat bigger case? I wan't quite sure what to keep an eye out for. Sifting through the giant stacks of cases, I think it can be hard to find what your really looking for.

The two stores I checked out actually had alot of good dvds. One store seemed to be just putting out some new things. I saw some of the Scooby Doo double set movies, some of the superbowl stuff people were mentioning here. But, I'm trying to be good and not buy that much. I did pick up 1 DVD, Kaena: The Prophecy. It was... different. But for 3 dollars not too bad.

I guess I'll be heading back again, after the real date for all this stuff to come out happens.

Finally found some of these at mine. They weren't anywhere near the regular $3 DVDs. They were stashed on the top shelf (head height) of the Electronics aisle.

I picked up Drew Carey S1 & Blade The Series. No WB Cartoons at all, but a crapton of Dallas (all but S8, even S9) and Six Feet Under S3.

First off, a big thank you to the OP for alerting me to this sale.

My semi-local (Cumberland,MD) store had either been picked over, or only put out a small shipment. Jammed on their "medis tower" I bought the only Animaniacs Vol.1 and left Pinky and the Brain Vol.1, along with some odd Scooby-Doo sets and various Thundercats sets. Maybe they'll put more out closer to the starting date for the ad - who knows?

OT Quick question: Who in the hell devised these stupid Thundercats "3 Volumes for 1 Season" sets? What a waste of space and time. Some of the sets looked slick and thin, while some others were these monstrous-sized 3 (full-sized) dvd case boxes. Ridiculous to say the least.

I was stupid and passed on the Thundercats sets (the actual multi-disc box sets) and by the time I got back to the store the whole DVD boxset display was devastated. This is the one to get, the one with 3 regular-sized DVD cases inside a box. The newer release (probably one DVD case, silvery looking) is just 1/3 of the real box set with only 2 discs each.

Went back to check out Big Lots again today, tons of NBA Lakers Dynasty, History of Rock n Roll, Animaniacs (vol.2), Pinky & the Brain (vol.2), Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Dukes of Hazard fifth season (Why only fifth season?), Night Court first season, The O.C. second season. Went in tonight and grabbed a few movie titles for $3. They had all the sets you guys have been talking about. Little factoid the clerk told me: they will be getting in a lot of the closeout stuff from the Virgin Megastores and (can't remember other store name) in the next week or so-the 14th of July she said. Also, they were notified that "a disney movie studio" is going out of business and they are getting a bunch of titles from that. Not sure which one (Touchstone?).

Half the Big Lots I went to had displays set up for the boxsets- not really massive displays, but had a defined area with everything in a single location. The other stores looked like employees merely threw the boxsets in randomly with other DVDs and games, which made them hell to find. One store actually had both, which made things even more confusing...

So if you're having trouble finding the boxsets, carefully look around before leaving!

My BL had put out a new case today - there were no Super Bowl sets yesterday, but today I picked up XI-XX and XXXI-XL... There were pinky and the brain V1 and V2, superheores V2 and a whole butt load of Nip/Tuck S4 and Smallville S7 BR sets.

I ended up picking up the 2 SB sets (I'll try to find the others tomorrow or Sunday), Scooby Doo S3 and the New Scooby Movies, NFL HOF and NFL Inside the Vault the 60's and 70's. Pretty nice sale. I could definitely see where the stock was gone even from the previous day, so who knows what they had at the beginning if I had seen the thread earlier.

I am still looking for Samurai Jack, Justice League, Blade, Pinky and the Brain V1, Animaniacs V1, Smallville BluRay or NipTuck BluRay and Wonder Woman if anyone wants to trade for the ones I listed above or if you want to sell any of the ones I am looking for, just send me a PM. Buying 1 or 2 extra copies isn't a big deal. The guys who are cleaning out the entire stores (search on google, this sale is widely known already) inventory so nobody else can find them are the one's who ruin it for everybody. I wonder why big lots didn't put a limit on these, like only 2 duplicate copies max per person?

From what I recall, Passed on Pinky and the Brain vol 1 and 2 (already own), ER, Dukes of Hazard, West Wing, Scooby Doo's, Wonder Woman, Nip Tuck, Lakers Championship and Joey. I've never seen the show, so it's probably not fair to say this, but I checked like 3 stores looking for titles and each had a ton of copies of Joey, it seems like nobody even touches it.

I have hit all the big lots around me, 5 of them, found mostly the same as everyone else. All the stores seemed to have different assortments, or maybe had sold out of some stuff. Here is what I saw out there:
OC, lots of Joey, Nip Tuck, Nightcourt, Animaniacs vol 2, Pinky and the Brain 1 and 2, History of rock, super bowl sets (3 of the 4), friends (various ones, didnt check seasons), thundercats season 1 vol 1, thundercats season 2 vol 2, west wing, lots of roots, lots of dukes of hazzard, various scooby doo packs, various super hero sets, dallas, blade, nightmares and dreamscapes

I ended up picking up history of rock, and pinky and the brain 1 and 2 (so happy about that). I really wanted samurai jack, but saw no sign of him. Also as a heads up, out of 5 stores I only found one copy of pinky and the brain vol 1 (of course at the last big lots I went to), so it might be tough to track down.

One last note, perhaps the most interesting: This sale is advertised in Wednesday's ad (check biglots.com), which means some stores might be holding them until Wednesday morning. I know I went to one store and they had no box set dvds out, I talked to the manager and he let me know that he had got the sets in, but they were on hold till Wednesday's ad.

My big lots are pretty empty, but when I went to Suncoast video(Fye sister store), I found out why. They are LOADED with these. At least 6 copies each of all titles, especially Dukes of Hazzard. If i found anything to trade in they'd probably deny me since they have so much.
I made enough credit to start using the email FYE coupons to start getting some box sets I want, like Battlestar Galactica seasons used.

Just an FYI--I hadn't been to my Big Lots since a couple of days before Sunday (they'd put out some boxsets by June 30th and had more by July 7th, though).

There were very few boxsets left. However, I did find an entire rack of Nickelodeon DVDs which hadn't been there before. They were all Nicktoons. I remember:

Odd thing I noticed, an entire box of Flintstones season 2, about 10 sets, had no plastic wrapping on them at all. They was not sure what to do with those. I got one from a box that did have wrappings on.
