Well, today i opened my inbox to be surprised at the offer I had received. I couldn't resist, a Sega genesis, not sure what model yet with a controller and some PGA golf game, for my ghost squad. Which I payed twenty bucks for and beat a whole ago. The only downside it doesn't include hookups, ill order them now so they both arrive at the same time. But, I'm clueless as far as games go.

As a kid I remember playing an amazing x-men game, clone something. What other notable games are there, i really don't want to burn a hole in my wallet though. I kinda want a saturn also.

Edit- just realized, i have spare rf adapters! so i dont need av, also he mentioned you can use a ps2 power adapter, but i still dont know what model it is.

does it say HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS on the front? If so, that's model 1. Is it sleek and black and rather compact? That's model 2. Is it small like a hockey puck? That's model 3. And some good games are Streets of Rage 2, Ecco, Comix Zone, Phantasy Star 2-4, Ghostbusters, Vectorman, Sonic 1-3, GoldenAxe and many arcade ports.

X-Men 2: Clone Wars (http://www.amazon.com/X-Men-2-Clone-Wars-Sega-Genesis/dp/B00002ST7U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1246816726&sr=8-3) is the game you're talking about.

But yeah, Streets of Rage is definitely my favorite trilogy on the genesis. Golden Axe 1 was amazing, the other 2, not so much.

I wanted this lightgun game called lethal enforcers, are there any others? I also want all the sonic games they should be easy to find cheap. Is there something special about sonic & knuckles because some comments on gametz say like flip cover is broken, and no spring action left on cart

you'll be dropping a decent penny to pick up the Shining games then, especially if your looking for complete games.

Hell, there are a few other games on my list that will cost you a decent penny (MUSHA being the more expensive game)

Make sure you know what model of Genesis you're getting before you get the AV cables or the RF adapter. The first two models have different multi-outs. I don't know what the third model has.

I'm completely clueless as to what the power supply differences might be between the three models.

The top of sonic & knuckles has a top cover because u can plug in Sonic 2 (i think) and sonic 3 so you can play as knuckles in those games. So flip cover broken leaves top port exposed to dust and dirt. No spring action not sure but guessing this is how you take apart games after you join them.

Games though Road Rash 2 the video of you getting beat by the cops are funny as hell. And a gamecrazy by my house has a bin of games for 25 cent but all are sports games. And if you want a game to pull your hair out Superman.

If you want sonic 2 and don't mind cart only, you can have one of mine. You can't beat free.

Anyway, Comix Zone, Vectorman, NHL 94, All the sonics except spinball and 3D Blast. There are tons more, but I can't think of them.

I cant deny free haha, and ive never played number two. I'll see if i can find the manual and case somewhere on ebay maybe. Would you like me to cover shipping? Shouldnt be much, its about 3 ounces in a bubble mailer, should be about 1.92 through paypal shipping. Lets just hope the system works

Cool. That way you can get stereo RCA AV cables for the multi-out on the model 2 instead of rigging stereo sound out of the headphone port on model 1. (Seriously, what were they thinking? It's mono only out of the multi-out on the model 1.)

I haven't played Lethal Enforcers 1 on the Genesis, but Lethal Enforcers 2 is great.

I would highly suggest NOT getting any Golden Axe games. They were cool when they came out, but they have aged really really badly. I love beat em ups, and it's just not fun to play, especially when you have the excellent Streets of Rage trilogy to fall back on.

A couple other games (assuming you don't have an SNES):
Maximum Carnage
Separation Anxiety
Battle Toads and Double Dragons
Battle Toads (remake of the NES version)

God I listed only beat em ups....

I liked Golden Axe 1. Never played the others. But the first one I think is still fun.

If nothing else, it comes on the 6-Pak cartridge with other good games. It contains Sonic 1, Streets of Rage 1, Golden Axe 1, Columns, Revenge of Shinobi, and Super Hang-On, ordered from my favorite to my least favorite. So if you don't have any of those other games, you might as well get it to try it out because you're going to love something on the cart.

LilPaintballer

Ok, so I have, well... will have 4 games. Still need AV cables and Power Supply, I gotta sell some stuff on my list for dough. They are Sonic (traded sims bustin' out for it) PGA Tour Golf II (included in trade), Sonic 2 (completely free via chairman_lmao, thanks again!) and Lethal Enforcers (in big box and everything just no manual, for guitar hero 2 onn 360. I would say the trades were decent but I got the short end of the stick by a litte because I was eager to get rid of games I no longer play.

For those curious the deal was my Ghost Squad for a sega genesis model 2 and two first party controllers. I had to cover shipping, i slipped 10 bucks in the case for the flat rate box

It looks like im getting a complete Saturn! and Street Fighter Alpha 2! for a combination of the following, LoZ: Wind Waker, MGS Twin Snakes(No Manual), Persona 3 FES. He said he is going to add some cash, obviously the combination i choose will not include Persona and MGS its one or the other. I see alot of games I want for saturn and will probably play that until I can track down some cables for genesis.

Edit- Oddly enough I have a SNES I just play it since i have no good games, Now that I've been looking for the good retro stuff I'll trade for a few.

Edit 2- I;ve been reading up on racketboy.com he has great articles pertaining to the, best games, rarest games, cheapest games worth your time, starter collections. From what i see, Street Fighter is a good game and even better its included in the deal.

I'm now switching my focus to Saturn now, I had a genesis at one point and still dont really know where it is, I feel like i will enjoy my saturn far more. I've been interested in Rayman, Night, Clockwork Soldier. This system is completely forgien to me i have never seen one or even held a controller i cannot wait for it to get here. Until I track down the cables for Genesis, which isn't hard, just more convenient to play the system thats complete.

Saturn (even more than the DC) has some of it's best stuff left to hang in Japan. I'd reconsider the non-import stance, but if it's truly a firm stance you're taking, that's fine. There's still a lot of great stuff that you can get:

Guardian Heroes
Nights
Fighters Megamix
Dragon Force
Shining the Holy Ark
Shining Force III
Panzer Dragoon series
Pretty much any Capcom fighter (CPS2-based)
Sonic Jam (if you're a sonic nut)
Die Hard Arcade

Just to name a few offhand.

Astal looks cool, Legend Of Oasis dounds cool but i need to look up gameplay. Panzer Dragoon & Zwei look interesting since I just got Orta for xbox. Princess Crown is similar to legend of oasis, Rayman still grabs my interest but its expensive, Croc looks good but I cant find it for a decent price. I've been checking eStarland.com, eBay.com, and GameTZ.com

Another point on import games:
Japanese Saturn games often had a longer print run than their American equivalents, so they're usually much cheaper to pick up online. The prices of classics and semi-rarities like Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Guardian Heroes, Burning Rangers etc are at least half the price.(though I suppose you could look at the higher price as the premium you pay for not needing a guide to play with if you don't know any Japanese.)

Anyway I recommend:
Panzer Dragoon 1-3
Rayman
Guardian Heroes
Dragon Force
Legend of Oasis (essentially plays like an old-school Legend of Zelda: overhead perspective, save a kingdom from an ancient evil, collect special weapons and magic to access new areas)
Christmas NiGHTS
Virtua Cop 1+2
House of the Dead
Saturn Bomberman

Hmm, I want a light gun. I just got one for genesis too, how is this light gun, this is first party correct? http://www.estarland.com/SegaSaturn.cat.AC.product.14521.html, 20 bucks for the import expansion isn't bad either, just don't know if I'm interested in imports.

I've wanted Albert Odyssey for a while, but haven't been able to find it in the wild.

I have exactly five Saturn games, none of which are bad by any means. Bust-A-Move 3, Galactic Attack, NiGHTS, Robotica, and Virtua Fighter 2. Most of which were acquired for five dollars or less, and I've thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I just have to change the battery in my system, as it no longer saves :D

LilPaintballer
07-08-2009, 11:28 AM
Crap, the battery goes bad making the console not save, i thought it just wouldnt be able to keep the time.

The battery is really easy to change and it'll be good for a couple years.

Also, a question for Saturn owners.
I have a Japanese Saturn and I'd like to play American games on it(especially Herc's Adventures!). If I get an action-replay plus will it enable that?

depascal22
07-08-2009, 02:06 PM
I"m also interested in the answer to that one. Good to see there are other Japanese Sega Saturn owners out there.

Chuplayer
07-08-2009, 06:19 PM
Change the battery and get a backup memory cart. Then periodically copy saves to the backup cart of games that won't save directly to the cart.

Also, a question for Saturn owners.
I have a Japanese Saturn and I'd like to play American games on it(especially Herc's Adventures!). If I get an action-replay plus will it enable that?

I don't know a lot about the different AR models, but I know there's one out there that is a backup memory cart, a 1M RAM expansion cart, a 4M RAM expansion cart, a cheat unit, and a region unlocker all in one.

I have my US Saturn modded at the region jumpers on the motherboard. You can wire them up to a switch and have the regions selectable. I don't have it wired up myself. I just use alligator clips to join the appropriate wires since I'm too lazy to mount a switch onto my console, but it can be done!

looploop
07-08-2009, 06:28 PM
Yeah, the five-in-one AR is what I had in mind. In the product description it says it enables Japanese games on American systems but doesn't specify whether it removes regional barriers both ways.
Thanks for the advice but I'm really not confident enough with electronics to fiddle with my Saturn's insides. :)

I wrote EStarland about it. They say that it will not enable US games on a Japanese Saturn, though I'd still like to hear it from a Japanese Saturn owner who's tried it.
