I hadn't thought that that many people knew about the game, let alone were going to buy..This has just solidified me buying it if I see at Fry's when I go down there.

edit: spelled the title of the game incorrectly. But at least I made off like a bandit without too much flaming. Whoo.

Good hopefully this encourages game developers to take more risks

I had to travel all over the place before I found a copy, and I snagged the last one Babbages had.

This would be nice if it wasn't just a fluke and truly started to have publishers and devolopers start to take more risks.
Well good. Now maybe Namco will tweak and localize Venus and Braves and bring it over.

This is one of the few times that the buzz surrounding a really rare niche game was enough to carry it to success. For such an obscure game, I remember hearing about it alot in the past few months.

its such a fun game!
and like the article says, namco is pissed that retailers didnt even give it a chance...its a cult hit!

I couldn't find a copy anywhere in store, so I had to order mine online. Just got it in today. Can't wait to play it.

I hadn't truly known about the game if it wasn't for CAG. Sure i have read a little about it in mags. and websites and the like but nobody truly gave it a chance. I think the reason it is selling so well is mainly because of word of mouth.

Actually, it's kind of funny....
The artwork on the game lists the title as Katamari Damacy.
The name on the PS2 seal on the top of the game (The one you remove to open it) lists the title as Katamari Damashi.

The game looks inexplicably cool...and it's almost reason enough for me to get a PS2.
Then again, I've said that about other games, and for the Cube and the Xbox too. One of these days...

I was at Fry's yesterday and they had SERIOUSLY about 100 or more copies on the shelf.....I thought it was on sale for $14.99, but it wasn't..It rang up at $19.99

If you got a Fry's then its most likely guaranteed to be there. They always have about a hundred on hand when they think theres gonna be a big title or sale. I remember when I picked up from them FFX-2 and Drakengard for 19.99 and they had about 75 of each on hand.

I love this game, and am thrilled that it is doing so well. I would have paid $50 for it....

The Fry's here in Atlanta just opened recently, so it's "new" to us around here. They have alot of stuff there and it's funny to see all the $5 CC games for full price there....

I saw this game at BB yesterday. They had a bunch. Never heard of it but I looked at it for awhile cause it stood out. It wasn't priced but I assume it retails at $19.99? So whats the buzz surrounding this title?

Yaeh when i go to my Fry's, which is also fairly new, and see their wall of 19.99 and under budget titles and see many of the same that were at CC I sort of chuckle. Still that wall sometimes has some games that are difficult to find and for 19.99 who can pass on them. You will soon start to love your fry's and will mainly buy from there rather than BB or EB.

Damn, didnt know it was out and after seeing the reviews and this news item, I think I'll have to pick it up too. The Gamestop locator says they have it near me, but maybe i'll check bestbuy too cause of the giftcard.

I'm thinking about picking it up. It sounds weird in a cool way...and I consider buying almost any $20 new game that isn't a crap license.
Of course I may have to wait until my finances sort themselves out....being broke sucks ass.

Yaeh, I hear you....I also need to find some income or more precisely some money. Being broke sucks.

I had it in my hand today at EBGames [at least the shelf copy], but put it back for XMen Legends.
I used up some trade credit on XML and to preorder Nocturne, and thought it was a little too limiting and short in gameplay to pick up yet.

When i went to Fry's in Fountain Valley they had none in stock. Was sad but I picked up Guilty Gear X2 #Reload for 15 so that sort of made up for it.
