I clicked in thinking, "Hey, I used to love Nintendo Power! $6, who could say no?" Then I remembered that what was once Nintendo Power is now dead, and the new magazine is run by Future, and sucks.

Chris Slate ruins yet another publication.

You're on crack. Nintendo Power has been *vastly* improved since Future acquired the magazine.

I think you're on crack. NP went downhill big time since Future has taken over. I've been a subscriber since about issue 10 or so and my subscription is up and this is the first time now that I will not be renewing for another year.

It also pisses me off that they quit giving away a free guide or t-shirt or something with renewal. :bomb:

No, *you're* on crack! :D

I've been a subscriber since around issue 10, myself, and I'm much happier with Nintendo Power since Future took over. The magazine took a severe nosedive in quality during the N64 era that it never recovered from until the acquisition. In my opinion, of course.

Though I, too, miss the subscription bonuses quite a bit...

I want the subscription bonuses... ugh.

Do the issues ocme with anything swag-like?

I remember when Super Smash Bros. Melee came out- the soundtrack came with an issue.

Well, I was a subscriber since issue 1, so there. ;-)

Man, it used to be such an event when a new issue came, back in the NES/SNES era.

Well *I* was a subscriber since the Nintendo Fun Club!

My absolute favorite year was back when they were running those Zelda and Mario comics. Oh yeah, and I just fished out my two albums full of Super Power Club Power Cards yesterday afternoon and was having fun flipping through them. Man, those were the days...

Old Nintendo Power kicked so much ass. I used to love getting them in the mail. They always had the great posters, trading cards, nester/mario/zelda/pokemon comics, plus the contests. I miss those days.

No they don't. I haven't gotten any awesome swag-like items in a couple years from them that I can remember. They quit that and they quit the renewal bonuses. Future sucks!

That's lame. Honestly- that was my favorite part about the magazine...

it was a good read- but nothing beats swag!

They do still give out swag, though few are as awesome as in the olden days. I got a Zelda: Twilight Princess guide and soundtrack two years ago, a Phantom Hourglass guide last year, and when I renewed my subscription this year, I was supposed to get a posterbook, but they ran out and just sent me a player guide for Mario Galaxy (or was it Mario Kart?) They sell posterbooks at newsstands - they're on their second or third volume now - and it's like 33 posters for $10, or you can probably ask for it if you subscribe. (That's what I did with the Twilight Princess bundle since it was no longer advertised.)

And for the record, original NP was awesome, then the quality took a nosedive during the N64 days, and now it's awesome again. Maybe even more awesome now since it manages to stay relevant in these days.

Actually now that you mention it I did get a Mario Kart Readers Digest Guide awhile back, like a year or so ago, but other than that nothing to write home about.
