Working Designs has started their direct preorder phase for Growlanser Generations, and they're tossing in some extra stuff for those who are into the collectibles. Not exactly a cheap deal since you have to pay the full retail price for the game this way, but the shipping is free and the items included can't be gained any other way. The full information can be found here http://www.workingdesigns.com/news/2004/040929_01.htm

Oh and before anyone asks yes the direct preorders can only be done over the phone.

It's times like this I guess I should be glad I'm not a big collector type, I mean I am but thankfully I can resist swag like this. Dispite the stuff in this pack I think I'll just go and pick it up at the store for 45 bucks.

As much as I want to pre-order this, why isn't there a games section in the merchandise section of the website? I'm kind of hesitant to give credit card numbers over the phone. could just be me.

Fuck WD. I'm paying no more than the $60 to shop.mtv.com for a game that has been delayed for what may well be 3 years, and I'm CERTAINLY not giving any more money to WD than I can. The only reason I'm buying the DX edition is because of the MTV deal, and right now I'm pondering whether to even buy it at all with all the god damn delays.

Yeah I hate doing it too, but I did it with the Arc the Lad Collection and had no problems so i'll trust them again I suppose. If they delay the game again i'll call back and just cancel the preorder, but if i'm going to get the Deluxe pack I figure I might as well get the whole thing. Although i'm curious how do you get the Deluxe pack from the mtv shop for 60? Or was this some coupon that you had to take advantage of months ago?

Levizk, this was one of those big ass deals around late August where they had a sale of 10% off everything plus an extra $8.29 off and free shipping. They still have better deals on stuff than a lot of places, though, and Growlanser Deluxe is still at a lower price than retail.

Yeah I admit for 30 bucks off I could throw away the extra deck of cards and the pins, i'm not so willing to do it for only 15 off though. Wish I had been paying attention when that deal hit.

I think you just missed it by like a day. So don't feel bad for yourself.

Well...while in a way I can see what you're saying, in another way I guess I can't take that attitude with one of the few publishers in the U.S. that do everything they can to give their fans what they want. Hell, this time they've even made a version that comes WITHOUT all the extras so you don't have to buy them at all if you just want the games. That's a step up from the PSOne days, where if they released a collector's edition box, that's all they released. You may not have followed the case from the beginning, but the major delays were due to SONY being a bunch of asshats.

i love WD for bringing these games over here...they are just trying to get us stoked on all the free gear over in the US....in japan they nut their pants over anything added into the box

Unfortunately, the extra extras aren't even guaranteed. You think I could cancel my pre-order with them if i find out they run out of the extra extras? I know it's asking for a lot but that's the only reason I'd want to order from them since I have credit at Gamestop

You could still just pre-order the deluxe edition at your local EB or Gamestop. The date was pushed back again to 10/20, so it's not like there isn't still time. The price is the same as is listed on the WD site and you would have the opportunity to take advantage of trade-in deals and whatnot.

There shouldn't be any reason why you can't cancel a preorder from WD, afterall if they tell you no just call your credit card company and refuse the charge for when they go to ship. They shouldn't give you any hassle on the subject though. Although if you preordered direct from them on the first or even second day I don't think you'll have to worry about it too much, afterall I don't think they made the announcement about the extra extras only to produce far too few to cover the first week of orders.

That deal looks great, but I'll probably just preoder at a store, since I know shipping will kill me. WD is based in California while I love in Indiana, so shipping would probably be big.

I love in Indiana, too, man...but then I loved too much and had to leave. All my women found out about each other. :D

When I ordered Arc collection from WD, FedEx shipping was free.

I asked the guy on the phone specifically how much the shipping was and he said we don't charge it. So unless you live in California where you have to pay tax it's 89.99 shipped with all the extras. 49.99 with the extra deck of cards if you ordered the regular of course.
