That's funny. Go you.
OMFG that's funny. I'm guessing that you got a VERY good deal, but I don't know much about rare games, so I'm not sure.

The first buyer got good feedback for prompt payment and everything... with this said, first offer of $150 takes it home

I never thought the PC version would be that rare. I got the Saturn and SNES versions already

3 dollars seems like a good deal for it, it is a pc game so i don't think it is worth much, rare or not, it doesn't really matter.

I already have it for snes, I just couldn't bring myself to pass this one up after having seen what happened to the other auction. (I was going to bid on it before it got ridiculus)
if you want to steer clear of bidding wars like a seasoned ebay veteran such as myself, you should check out
www.justsnipe.com
it is free and you get like 5 free snipes a week (all I ever need)
it have used it like 30 times now, never fails, unless your bid isn't high enough

Wowzers.
Inspector Gadget? Is that you?
The difference is: you got a great deal, and the other guy didn't! BTW, have you received the game yet? I just wanted to know if you got the actual game, and not a bootleg.

No, not yet, but I am 100% confident it will all be perfect.
1st of all the guy has 100% positive feedback > 100 and wouldn't want to screw with that
2nd I offered the guy like $25 to end the auction early and sell to me, and he emailed me back and said it was against ebay policy, so I wound up getting it for like $3 instead of $25.
Goes to show when you get "an offer you can't refuse", don't pass it up

I can see only two differences that helped you. #1 the one you won was early in the morning and not during peak hours which is a great time to find deals. #2 the guy listed the other game first so maybe they saw that and didnt finish reading the title

ok, I've got a scavenger hunt... find this game, with case (not a download) online somewhere... and show me the price... 4 gmail invites (if interested ) to the first person who finds it.
good hunting

how does that sniping work?
cyberlian
09-30-2004, 12:28 AM
you sign up, give them your ebay info, typein the auction number, put your bid, and that's it
no constant internet connection needed, no checking back before the auction ends, it bids in last 5 sec. and you don't have to even be online, if your bid was too low to go through, then you don't get it, if it was high enough, it works like a normal proxy bid, only using what is needed,
maybe I'm missing a moral dilema here, but I don't see whats wrong with snipe bids, it saves time and money

if you were at a real auction could you hire someone to hold your paddle and have them only bid at the last moment?

it is very similar to what a lot of used car dealers do at car auctions, they send out other people to auctions around the state to get deals on used cars.
additonaly, ebay is not a normal auction, could you price check something at a normal auction by going back and seeing what that paticular item sold for in the past, that would really jack up the prices at normal auctions

In my opinion I would call it a slight foul nothing all that major though probably a lot worst things out there

I guess I see that perspective, it's just that I won my first 150 things the old fashion way, occasionaly being beat by a sniper i might add, and I just didn't have time to wait around at a computer every time one of my auctions went off
in theory, if every bid for every auction was pre-submited, and held silent until the very end, would it not bring the most utility to the person that wanted it most?
i.e. silent auction, no more bidding wars, price goes to the highest bidder, and everybody wins
although it is unfair when some people use snipe bids and others don't, thus my post for the snipe site in an effort to "even the playing field"

If I out my max bid at $100 won't that keep me as high bidder no matter what as long as no one bids higher.
example.
My first bid is 10, max is 100
bidding is at 50 so a sniper comes at the last 1-2 seconds and puts in 70.
wouldn't he automatically be outbid by me?

Yes, you would win the auction with a bid of $71 dollars based on your proxy bid.
Back to the begining of the topic, I got mega man x3 in the mail today and the only thing that it is missing is the shrink wrap, it is in complete, flawless cond.

I find I have a lot more fun selling things on Ebay. Especially since I need more games like I nedd a hole in my head. I must have at least 10 games awaiting me to play them right now. I am currently selling the Dark Tower VII on there if anyone is a Stephen King Fan you can check it out. I was a little lazy with this one I used the automatic listing which I don't usually do. Although I did take my own obviously amateur photo which seem to help my auctions out a lot http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2491784956&ssPage Name=STRK:MESE:IT

well who knows, I used to own that game and it was really cheap and came with a controller so these aren't even cheap. I guess people just like to throw money away.
