I'll be going to Japan in September for a few weeks and one of my "missions" is to find a Famicon system and some games. I always wanted one and think it'll be a cool little addition to my collection.
Anyways I was curious if you guys had any suggestions on some games? Keep in mind I'm looking for import friendly games (no RPGs). But I don't don't mind if the game came out here as long as it has some significant difference from it's American counterpart (Contra comes to mind) I'd appreciate any suggestions. So far I'm set on the following so don't worry about them:
Contra
The Goonies
Akumajou Special Boku
Holy Diver

I'm aware of a Macross game that was a horizontal scrolling shooter, but I don't know the name of it. I have it on a bootleg cart, though, and it's pretty fun if you're into R-Type style shooters.
Holy Diver? Awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out.
Holy Diver looks like a Castlevania knock off. I saw some videos and it looks fun.

I came in here to say Holy Diver.
As well as...
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me
Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean
Gotta get away
Holy Diver, yeah
got Shiny diamonds
Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue
Something is coming for you, look out
Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light
Oh we will pray it's all right
Gotta get away-get away
Between the velvet lies
There's a truth that's hard as steel
The vision never dies
Life's a never ending wheel, yeah
Holy Diver
You're the star of the masquerade
No need to look so afraid
Jump Jump
Jump on the tiger
You can feel his heart but you know he's mean
Some light can never be seen, yeah
Holy Diver
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me, No! Yeah
Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean
Gotta get away, get away
Gotta get away, get away, yeah yeah
Holy Diver
Soul survivor
Your heart is clean
Yeah Holy Diver
Holy Diver
Holy Diver
Holy Diver
Your caught in the middle coming after you Holy Diver
Oh Holy Diver
Holy Diver
Get away, get away, get away, come on
Aaaaaaaaaa

The Goonies
Akumajou Special Boku
Holy Diver
I think you meant to say "Akumajou Special: Boku wa Dracula-Kun", AKA: Kid Dracula. ;)
Also, I recommend these games:
Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti - A Super-deformed version of SPLATTERHOUSE! Completely in English too!
Konami Wai Wai World 1 & 2 - 2D action games featuring characters/stages from classic Konami games
King Kong 2 - 2D Konami action game
Parodius Da! - parody version of Gradius
Devil World - one of the only games made by Miyamoto that never made it out of Japan. It's a bit like Pac-Man.
Star Wars (Namco) - only came out in Japan. Pretty decent sidescroller.

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to put Splatterhouse, Wai Wai World, Devil World & Star Wars on the list. The only problem is actually finding them since I can only read a little Hiragana. I guess I should try and memorize each games cover art or logo.
I would put Parodius on the list but I'm not much of a shump fan. I have tons of shumps that I've yet to play. My problem is I just suck at them.

F1 circus(top view racing game)
Famicom Wars(Advanced Wars)
Formarion Z(a wierd but fun SHMUP, where you change from a plane to human..simple but fun)

I'm probably going to get the Transformers game just to own it. Altough I cheated I did get to stage 9 and couldn't figure out the maze trick.
