Do you need the spacer for the 32x if you have a Genesis II? Cuz i have everything i need for the 32x except the spacer, and it won't work. I jus wanna know if it's the spacer or my 32x system. Thanks!

Yes, you will need the black plastic spacer. Sorry.
It's amazing how much crap you need to hook up to get that tower of power working. If you're missing just one little piece you're screwed.
I'm going to have to disagree with Nutman on this one.
Long answer:
I was in your exact position a few months ago when I picked up a 32x... had everything except the plastic spacer, and I only had a Genesis2. Mine has been hooked up and used repeatedly WITHOUT the spacer for probably 8-9 months now, and it's worked perfectly. I don't think I even used the metal pieces it came with, I just plugged it straight on like a normal cartridge.
There's some give (which the spacer helps with), but if it isn't working AT ALL, my guess is that it's actually the 32x (which are notorious for problems anyway) which is causing the problem.
Short answer:
No, you don't need the spacer for it to work.

I had my 32x working, the genesis works fine. The 32x recently stopped working.... anything I can try? I looked online and saw to check a couple cables, but they didnt change anything.

Did you try cleaning the cartridge contacts on the bottom of the 32x? They could be dirty.

Just wondering do you need the spacer or the metal prongs for the model 1?
