When I first get a game I only look at the manual to learn the controls. But I take great joy in reading the instruction manual on the can when I get a chance

I read them while taking a dump too! I was hoping to be the one who could post something disturbing and/or edgy, but you guys beat me to it. Damn.

'll bet 99% of people read them in the shitter or on the way home from the store

People actually read those things? I just boot up the game and learn on the fly, its a lot more fun and less reading that way.

Sometimes I'll read one on the bus on my way home from wherever I got the game. Other than that, I don't really read the instruction manuals unless I need to look up something.

If I'm in a lull between books, I'll sometimes take a stack of them to read before I go to bed. Oddly, that seems weirder than people reading them on the can...

I try to never touch the manual because I prefer having games in the exact same condition that it came in.

This reminds me of another similar topic that I think was posted on GameFAQs. It had a classic reply:

"I read them whilst taking my poo."

I usually only glance at them after I've played the game awhile. No shitter reading for the manuals, that would cut into my time for the morning sports section.

In the libary (aka the bathroom).

I like to read the manuals after I've played the game a little while. You often learn some trick or control that you didn't know you could do just from playing the game.

I usually don't read them. I don't want to bend/tear any of the pages.

Since I go to UW-Madison, it is almost impossible to have a car unless you live off campus or want to pay $150 a month to park, so I have to take the bus to the mall or get a ride from one of my friends that has a car. So I usually read them on the bus ride home since it's a 45 minute ride.

shitter, when im watching tv, or on the ride home from the place where i got the game (although for the record thats more to whet my appetite than learn about the game)

i cant believe you guys are saying you dont read the manual. What if there's something totally awesome you can do in the game, but u never learn cuz u dont read the manual?

never read the manuals.......

Me neither, unless I just can't figure out what the controls are.

Example, I was just playing Twin Snakes today, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to switch to first person. Turns out I had just forgotten that the gamecube has a Z button, only thing I hadn't tried.

Turns out I had just forgotten that the gamecube has a Z button, only thing I hadn't tried.I didn't play that game very much since I didn't have the manual to look up the controls and learn about the story. I just traded it back in for the same price that I bought it for at another store. :)

Tonight, I brought 7 manuals to read while I was in the car on the way to some place. I wanted to learn more about the games, so I brought them along. The games were Fable, ESPN 2K5 NFL and NHL, Riddick, Ninja Gaiden, Guilty Gear X2, and Burnout 3 for anyone who wanted to know.
