It is on Super R-Type, it looks like a bootleg cartridge, and it is real cheap. So does anyone know if it is?

It look just like the Super R-Type I have in my collection. I would say it's real.

somethings definitely up with the cartridge formats and the blurry pictures.

The thing that got me was the slit in the middle, it is supposed to be squarish, not a long, slender rectangle. Interesting stuff...

Both look real to me. Some SNES games had that weird cartridge format. And the blurry pics are from a cheap digital camera.

Yeah I think Zewone is right, I think the weird slit is for Konami Games. Thanks Yall!

My Contra 3 looks like that(the cartridge format), and I'm pretty sure my Super R-Type looks liek that one too. Word of advice; Super R-Type is fucking HARD. Seriously.

Super R-Type and Castlevania 4 are both relatively common and inexpensive games, so the chances that someone would go through the trouble of bootlegging them are pretty slim. I would go ahead and bid, if you want them. If they are bootlegs, you are entitled to a refund, as EBay does not allow the selling of pirated materials.

Yeah, earlier SNES games were like that.

those are real, unless egghead software originally sold me a bootleg back in the 90s...curse them and their stores layouts designed by homeless people

I know GBA games are widely pirated, but are SNES games pirated at all? What are the odds that a given SNES cartridge on eBay is pirated?
That said, those both look real as far as I can tell. Some SNES games had the slit in the middle like those, and some (games that were released later in the SNES lifecycle) had a different cartidge, as seen in this picture (the first one I found in EB's list of SNES games, sorted alphabetically):

yup, I remember the day when I unwrapped an SNES game and took out the new type of cartridge. I was very upset at the new design (without the slit). cuz now I can pull it out of the SNES even when it's turned on!!

Yep, also around that time they stopped including the plastic dust covers with the games, unfortunately. But those are real AFAIK.
