Scrubking, aren't you always the first one to whine about people posting threads on politics. So what are YOU doing?

There is a BIG difference between posting a political thread and blind, ignorant bashing.

Damn those republicans!

Although you were being sarcastic, your intent was to start another republican/democrat bashing thread.

diude, this is a good thing, I'm sick of frivolous lawsuits. Like that one lady who the media made a big deal about because she was "trampled" during black friday at a wal-mart while trying to get a $30 DVD player. So she was gonna sue wal-mart, but it turned out it was like fer 9th lawsuit against a super store. I say it's a step in the right direction.

Ignorant lawsuits like this should be laughed out of court everytime. Whenever some dullard does something stupid, they sue everyboyd involved and say "I didn't know. . ." (Gee, let's fill in the blank here) fast food makes me fat, cigarettes are harzardous to my health, coffee spilled on private parts could hurt, lawnmowers shouldn't be used to clip hedges, etc.

People like this shouldn't be rewarded for their ignorance and stupidity by getting millions of dollars in lawsuits. (Kind of turns Darwin's theory on its head completely, you get to survive and flourish by being dumb). These morons need to take some responsibility for their actions, and the court systems and citizen jurors need to make a point of throwing out or denying payment for such frivilous lawsuits.

Well the restaraunts shouldn't be allowed to sell food that bad, so I wouldn't cry if they got sued for a billion dollars.

Of course, I am a cynical pessimist that was hoping an engine would die on Air Force 1 on september 11th 2001. That would have been the ultimate irony, the bastard is running like a chicken from terrorist crashing airplanes and his airplane crashes. You got to admit, even a non-cynical person would have to chuckle at that. :P

i hope this doesn't hurt my plans to sue paul reiser for not being funny. i know "mad about you" hasn't been on in a long time, but god, that show sucked.

oh, and by the way:

"We've got to get back to those old-fashioned principles of personal responsibility, of common sense, and get away from this new culture where everybody plays the victim and blames other people for their problems."

that rules.

awesome quote!

as for the pres running like a coward (on air force one)... that's a very ignorant thing to say. he leads our nation and whether we like him or not, he's gotta be protected. what's he supposed to do? stand on top of the white house with an m-16 and fire at the plane while it crashes into him? lol, it might show that he has balls, but it'll show how stupid he'd be too. (btw, i'm not trying to start a political thread :D )

I have a very vivid imagination, and picturing that is very funny indeed. :D

That's funny that people spend all that money on crap food, knowing it's crap food and then get really obese and then try to say it's someone else's fault. As far as Politics go I am republican but I am thinking of voting democrat this time.

A lot of the lawsuits aren't about people wanting money for McD's making them fat, but rather suing McD's in order to get them to make a better product.

It's sad, but in this day and age it may be what it takes.

Americans are the fattest people in the world. 60% of americans are overweight.

And all the big food companies can see the writing on the wall. They all know that a backlash is underway. Texas just banned fast food and junk food in public schools. Some people in Cali sued Nabisco for making Oreos too fattening, and now they've changed the ingredients in Oreos.

Pepsi is rolling out a low-sugar (but not "diet") cola this summer, and McDonalds just ixnayed Supersizing.

We, as a country, eat like shit and even eat shit quite often (anyone else here read Fastfood Nation?). For the last thirty years we've just gotten fatter and fatter, so it's clear that we lack the personal responsibility to not eat shitty foods.

The next answer--unless we want to have a country full of morbidly obese diabetics--is to get rid of transfats, high fructose corn syrup and to stop putting sugar in every fucking thing we eat.

[gets off soapbox]

And as long we're all declaring our party affiliations, I'm a registered Independent who sometimes votes Democratic, and sometimes votes Green.

And that about sums up this post, stay tuned for the next discussion.

Anyone see that Seinfeld episode with the "fat-free" yougurt that actaully wasnt?

That example is the ONLY reason (I see) why these kind of lawsuits should even take place at all. Its not like McDonals was ever healthy. EVERYONE knows fast food is generally NOT healthy.

Im happy with the ban.

I'm happy with the ban too. If all I eat is junk food and fast food and just sit on my ass all day, of course I will be getting fat.

It's like this family was suing the cable company for making them fat and lazy. Yeah the cable company put a gun to their head and forced them to pay monthly and just sit all day watching tv. Give me a break, I'm tired of this "lets sue anyone and see if we get something" crap going around.

This is like when parents blame the media and games for their children being violent, just who the hell bought True Crime or GTA to their 7 y/o, you did you stupid moron!

Did anyone see the special on how people in jail were suing because they were mistreated? One guy was suing because he couldn't sell crack from his cell! Since that cell was his home, it should be his home base for dealing! Another guy in that special mentioned how he has lost count on how many times he has sued, for things like his shoes had holes, he didn't like the menu at the cafeteria. Give me a break! Not only that, but since they are in prison it is the tax payers who pay for all their fees! I think this special aired in ABC a while back.

I am indeed glad that a bill has passed for all this stupid suing, I could have cared less if it was a democrat, a republican, or even the underwear gnomes that passed the bill, I support it.

Locally a woman sued because she was having her nails painted and the person painting them messed up the pain.

The jury awarded her $150,000, the bitch started jumping up and down yelling "I'm rich! I'm Rich!", and the lady she sued started ctying because she was now $140,000 in debt.

Thats the American way!

Something I don't quite understand about people who do this, or people who support this.

Oreos are too fat - so we sue Nabisco? How about you don't eat the god damn Oreo? How's that? -- Life's rough, I know.
