Good game Shin.
Pats defeat Jags 41 - 7
The Pats brutal defense showed up once again as they held the Jags to under 100 Total offense. Aaron Rodgers went 7 for 16 for 87 yards and threw 4 picks on the day. The Jags rushing game didnt fair so well either as Brandon Jacobs was held to just 8 yards on 7 attempts. The Jags only score game from a Steven Jackson fumble that was picked up and ran back by LE Osi.
Besides the fumble Running Back Steven Jackson so once again that he is the leagues MVP add another 143 yards and 2 TDs to is impressive total on the season. Jackson has 1 more game to break the two thousand yard mark as he sits at 1928 yards and 32 TDs. Marc Bulger also added two more touchdowns to his totals bringing up to 32 for the year as well as throwing for 3358 yards in the Pats high octane offense.
Key Stats
Marc Bulger 111.9 Passer Ratings 174 yards 2 TD 1 INT
Aaron Rodgers 21.6 Passer Rating 87 Yards 4 INT
Steven Jackson 143 yards 2 TD
Brandon Jacobs 8 Yards

Soodmeg wins 41-7. His second INT changed the momentum of the game. His DB was burned by my WR, was not looking at the QB or the ball, but somehow knows the ball is above him and makes an outstanding leap of faith for it.
Then afterwards I let Soodmeg win. He began to showboat by messaging me in-game. Also, he tried to run up the score after I was running out the clock whenever I had the ball in the 4th. Seriously. This comment will piss him off. This is a lie. Nobody tell him.

Ha.
Actually that 2nd INT was a user INT thats why it looked like that. I thought you were going to go to your TE but for some reason by guy wouldnt strafe he just turned and ran behind your TE I press Y thinking I could at least I can get that in air tackle animation because I thought I was burnt to a crisp.
That fumble you got was crazy...I wish I could have replayed it because it really seemed like Jackson just threw the ball at Osi. Crazy.

There's only two games left to be played, SoulReaver and XXXplosive. SoulReaver said his game could be simmed. XXXplosive is out of the NFC playoff picture, so maybe he doesn't care if his game is simmed. I guess we should wait and see what he says.
Since Xxxplosive1 is out of the playoff picture I'm going to sim it shortly unless he is around and posts otherwise.
We've advanced to week 17, the wildcard round will begin Friday morning or sooner.
Week 17 games:
anthem85 vs CPU
shinryuu vs CPU
Commander0zero vs CPU
Static Puff vs CPU
Xxxplosive1 vs CPU
Soodmeg vs CPU
BigAT vs CPU
JStryke vs CPU

Also, to everyone, what are your thoughts on giving key players a week off before the playoffs? My next game can't change my playoff seeding at all, and I would hate to have Westbrook or Witten out for the playoffs because they got hurt in a game that didn't matter.

Are we gonna vote on awards? MVP, Rookie, etc etc?
I think it would be more fun for us as the users to vote for who should get the awards. Hell I dont even know if online franchises have awards in them.
BigAT
09-30-2009, 10:00 AM
I'm almost positive online franchises don't have any sort of year end awards. Well done EA.
Commander0Zero
09-30-2009, 10:46 AM
Yeah EA really screwed up the online franchise. I actually believe this was withheld on purpose so they could sell this as a "NEW" Feature for Madden 2011. I mean who doesn't want year end awards, pro Bowl selections and full league stat tracking. everyone who plays Madden is a stat whore for crying out loud!
Anyway I'm looking forward to the re-draft. Reason being you look at your team and some players you will try to draft again becuase you fell in love with them and some you wouldn't touch with a ten foot poll. It's going to be interesting also with greater participation too. I do have a question are we going to be using the newest roster and ratings? Are there even new ones? As we know some players have emerged and probably need to be rated higher.

Pats Close Season With Win Over Texans.
As the regular season closes the Pats looked as regular as a super star team could. Dominating defense and high scores became the norm over the season and the Pats didnt let up even though it was a meaningless game for them.
Although the Pats rested most of the starters in the 2nd half they still had time to put up big numbers in a 59-35 win as MVP canidate Steven Jackson added 168 yards and 3 TDs to his ridiculous season. Jackson has a league leading 2096 yards and 35 TDs. Marc Bulger kept his offensive player of the year talks alive by ending the season with 3686 passing yards 35 TD and 20 INT along with 4 rushing TDs.
That Pats are the high scoring team in the league ending the season at 633 points for and 243 points against.
On the other side of the ball the, "2-Dub" (Strong Safety Adrian Wilson and DB Josh Wilson) proved they are the best DB combo in the league as Adrian added 2 more INT (both pick sixes) to is total as Josh added 1. Adrian Wilson leads the team with 52 tackles, 15 INT, 17 deflections, 5 forced fumbles and 4 TDs. Josh Wilson has 37 tackles, 13 INT, 1 Forced Fumble and 6 TDS.

Yeah, it was a very fun and competitive game. I definitely need to try to keep Asante Samuel in the next draft, he's the man.
I was looking at the standings in game, somehow the Seahawks clinched a playoff spot coming into this week and I didn't, even though we have the same record and I won both head-to-head's. Confusing. I won my week 17 game though so it doesn't really matter.

gg Ivan. it was a bit boring, but sort of amusing too. I had way too many injury scares (Brown, Leftwich) and Roy Williams is out for 11 weeks now. My back up isn't that terrible, but not really what I was looking forward to going into the playoffs.
I was going to bench my starters after I saw you did, but I wasn't sure if I needed the W or not.

Haha, yeah, I think Chris Simms was happy to see a bit of playing time, even though he didn't do anything good with it. My backup running game is even worse than my backup passing game, so I figured I might as well air it out.

Seattle Seahawks Clinch Playoff Birth
In a 24-0 win over the Titans backups, the Seahawks won their 7th game in a row heading into the playoffs as a Wild Card. The Arizona Cardinals held onto and won the NFC West, thanks to in part by defeating Seattle in both games this season. Seattle looks to matchup with the Packers in the first round.
The team will be without star safety Roy Williams, who broke his collarbone on a tackle in yesterday's game. He's expected to be sidelined for 11 weeks and will miss the entirety of the playoffs. He led the team in forced fumbles. Sabby Piscitelli will be asked to step up in his role as the new starter. The team also signed safety Jamar Adams as a precaution.
The Seahawks best defensive player, Darnell Dockett, went on a tear to end the season. Some analysts claimed he had a shot at surpassing Michael Strahan's season sacks record of 22.5, but ended up with a league-leading 19. He looks to anchor a strong front seven as the playoffs begin. The question is now whether or not a weak and now weakened secondary can last the rigors of the NFL playoffs.

Just played my game. I didn't really have a good first quarter, and seeing how my season has been awful anyways, I decided to say fuck it and see what records I might be able to break on purpose. 9 interceptions by Flacco I believe gives him the single game record, but he ended up being two short from tying, three from passing the single season record. Plus, I think it gives him the most for our league, so the game wasn't a complete waste.

im excited to see what happens with the rest of the playoffs. Now its time to look forward to next season and going at it again.
My breakdown of my team this year. Great quarterback but I had no running game and my wide receivers were mediocre. I had a great O line to get the ball out but no open recievers unless I played the short game. Secondary was ok. Id say I had a lineup that reflects the Houston Texans. Mediocre but no punch in the end. I found ways to win and im happy to have made it as far as I did. Lets see if I can get better players next season.

so what's the deal with the off season? we're just restarting the league with a new draft or are we drafting rookies?
Well on one hand I'd like to re-draft as I know there are new owners but the problem with that is from our first draft (which only 8 people showed for, most quit half-way through) took about 2 hours. The only way to make the draft take a reasonable amount of time would be to have a "speed-draft" where each team would barely have enough time to look at all the options before picking, which doesn't sound like fun.
I'll advance the week in a couple hours.

Well Thanks for the kind words. But BigAT and his Cardinals are a big roadblock to that Super Bowl appearance. This will be our third time playing so we both know what to expect from each other so it should be a great game!
As far as starting the season over and re-drafting I'm all for it. But seen made excellent points in his post about it. frankly those that want to do it will really have to set some time aside maybe 2 to 3 hours. I mean drafting a 50 plus man roster can be time consuming and if we have a speed draft it doesn't give you enough time for your pick. I would think we would at least need 60 seconds. The only other option is require those that cannot attend or don't want to is to pre-rank at least their top 50 and let the cpu do the rest. This way at least you won't have some crazy imbalance.

I'm down for either. I started to like my team so I was looking forward to building up the secondary.

Im down for either. My team is weak sauce but I could build them up. As long as the league doesnt have to get reset.

I'd prefer to draft. Like Seen said, only 8 or so people were around for the draft, and being around 16 now, a lot of people have CPU teams that they may not really care for.
As far as the draft being 10 hours or whatever, myself, I don't have a problem with that. Now, I don't know what all tools the franchise has or the options and such, but if we set it for Saturday or Sunday (a day with the highest success of people being home) I don't see why we couldn't start it late morning, pause for an hour or something for dinner (if that's possible) and then finish up afterwards. Or if we could split the draft up amongst several days.
Like I said, I'm not sure if some of the ideas I'm suggesting are possible, but if they are, it's worth looking into at least.
Edit: Also, not sure (thought I heard you could), but it is possible to draft through your computer and not the console, correct? Also, is it possible to rejoin the draft if you accidentally get kicked off for whatever reason?

I am fine with re-drafting, even though I really like my team. Honestly, unless you're really anal, there's not much reason to stick around after you draft your starters and a few key backups. I thought the draft last time was fine--as I recall, it only took about an hour or so to reach the point where the CPU could finish things out.
Soodmeg, I will try to get on earlier than 11:00, but if we don't get the game done tonight, I can definitely do it tomorrow.
Conference Championship:
NFC: Commander0zero vs BigAT
AFC: IvanHood vs Soodmeg

That iphone app for the Madden Franchise is pretty nice.
I personally would rather not do a draft. I will do it if that is the overall preferred way to go, but having done one before, they tend to get tedious.
Is there a way to see the teams/rosters without being in the leauge?
I would still like to be the 49ers if possible.

is there a way to just draft maybe the first 15 players for everyone team and then have the cpu do the rest? That way it wouldn't be so time-consuming.

Cardinals Advance to Super Bowl Behind Smith's Explosive, Incendiary Performance
The Cardinals and Rams met up for the third and final time this year to decide the NFC Championship game. Things started out poorly for the Cards, as they were forced to punt on their first offensive possession and, on a 3rd and short, Tom Brady ran a nice play action pass and then found fullback Jameel Cook who was embarrassingly wide open and took it an 80 yards for a touchdown, shocking the home crowd into silence.
They would not be quiet for very long though, as the incendiary Steve Smith took the resulting kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. The Cardinals would score two more touchdowns, including an explosive 37 yard pass to Smith.
Arizona was efficiently driving down the field and was in prime position to put the game away by scoring a fourth touchdown right before the half ended, but Jason Campbell got hit before he was able to find a wide open Dustin Keller. The resulting duck was grabbed by Carlos Rogers and returned 90 yards to bring the Rams within 7.
Both teams scored another touchdown in the 4th, but St. Louis was unable to execute an onside kick down a score with under two minutes left allowing the Cardinals to wrap things up and secure the Super Bowl birth.
Rams - 21
Cardinals - 31
The media coverage in the two (virtual) weeks until the Super Bowl will likely revolve around the history between the two coaches involved, who both have Super Bowl experience against each other. Both coaches have tried to insist that it isn't a big deal as it was earlier in their coaching careers and with different squads, but the 24 hour sports news cycle continues to harp on it.

Damn mc damn face.
Good game BigAt. That one god damn INT was the name of the game. I was trying to throw the ball to the back of the endzone to my tall TE and it throw it short as hell and Samuel snatched it from like the 5. Sometimes I forget when that I am playing madden and some things are not possible.
Pats loose 35 - 28.

Cardinals Manage to Hold Off Patriots to Secure Super Bowl Victory
The game started off early with us exchanging long touchdown plays. I had a 68 yard touchdown pass to Greg Lewis that was followed up shortly thereafter with a 64 yard touchdown run by Stephan Jackson to tie things up at 7. Lewis played out of his mind today, ending up with 159 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
We exchanged touchdowns once more, but after that I was able to put up two more that went unanswered, leaving me up 28-14 going into halftime, but kicking the ball off. The Patriots proceeded to efficiently drive down the field, moving the ball in small bursts but constantly picking up first downs along the way (shocking stat: I had only 5 first downs to Sood's 15). But just as the Pats got inside the red zone, Asante Samuel came up huge, as he has done all season, and grabbed a ball out of the air and made for the sidelines. After breaking the tackle attempt of the only defender that had a chance to stop him, he continued down the field for a 96 yard interception return for touchdown.
I spent the rest of the game playing safe and just trying to hold off the comeback. The Patriots got within a touchdown with about 1:50 left, but I managed to recover the onside attempt and (barely) run out the remainder of the clock.
Cardinals - 35
Patriots - 28
gg Soodmeg, now we're even for last year. :)
Also, thanks to everyone that made this season run so quickly and smoothly.

When is the next season starting?
I'm also wondering. Let's not let too much time pass so people don't lose interest or forget about this league.
I have some personal stuff I'm busy with, but I have not forgotten about the league.
Something that needs to be addressed, is whether we want to division stack creating less games vs the CPU or 2 teams per division giving everyone a good shot to make the playoffs.

I'd prefer two teams per division...but really either way works.
