My PS3 is acting retarded!!!!

My PS3 keeps beeping like it is trying to eject a disk but it doesn't have one in it. It turns on but when I put a disc in it ejects the game. And when it is in standby it continues the beep! Please Help. I wanna play Zombies on WAW!!

Do a factory hard reset where you hold down a couple buttons while rebooting call sony they will tell you how to do it.

Did you do the latest update. My ps3 was acting bad yesterday but a update fixed it. Disk wouldn't play on it. Seems to be ok now.

yea i tried the update and it said that it was already updated. but ever since i tried the youtube video on here it really been acting fukin nutz!! i will turn the power on from the back and then it will skip standby mode, turn on, the fan will get really loud for about 45 seconds, nothing will pop on the screen, and then it will cut off and a red light will start blinking!!! this blows!!!

Sounds like the switch went bad. It's making constant contact so it'll turn on automatically, always eject a disc, and then constantly beep like you were holding it down to force it to shut off.

I haven't opened my console yet so I can't say if it's easily fixable at home or not. I would certainly try though.

how would i fix the switch. if i called customer service would that help any?

The only thing they would do is have you send it in. I'm not sure what's involved with the switch, or how a touch-sensitive one would go bad for that matter. When something stops working for me I go in and explore trying to find where the problem lies. Could be dirty, shorted out, a loose connection...

ok. did a little bit more research. my little bro found out that what is happening is that its the fan test that is cutting on. we cant figure out how to make it stop though. i know the fan test has something to do with the eject button.and thats has been the main cause of the the problems with it before this irritating ass fan test started. it kept ejecting the game during game play for no apparent reason. anybody know a way that i can possibly fix the eject button. i called sony and they told me the same thing they tell everybody else. send it in and 150 dollars and we will send you a new one. i'm really trying to avoid that 150 right now. Its a recession!!!
