Well its looking like the other Madden League thread is going nowhere so I decided to start another one. Trying to get around 10 CAGs together to get an Online Franchise going. So far we have 3 members

Remember, it is a fantasy draft so teams are unimportant beyond facility and coaches.

This is a little different then the league, because you don't always have to worry about only having to play each other. There will be CPU teams as well and it is easy enough to kick out teams/players who do not participate.

We had all the spots taken, split into two Conferences, one conference folded, owners were coming and going all season and at the end only 2 or 3 of us had played 7 games when the season was only 11 games long.

After my third message of "C'mon guys, play your games" with no response I gave up too.

Never understood why one would drop $60 on one of the biggest selling games and not take advantage of multiplayer especially in a generally friendly environment like CAG.

True. I was wondering if you wanted to restart our other one with snoopy and the other guys. The reason for this is because one of the guys was not happy with his team and I found out that the Online franchise trade logic is broken. I noticed this based off of some of the trades that the CPU accepted in the regular franchise we are in(A. Gates for the eagles tight end + their 3rd string).

I wanted to be the chargers and another guy wanted the falcons, another guy wanted the skins , so on and so on. That way it would be possible to meet in the SB. But I'm not sure how often we would play in the regular season.

The best thing about the franchise mode versus the league last year is that you can sim the games whether the people play them or not. That way after so long it is possible to move on without the people are waiting on.

Some of the guys were asking about the trading that you had done and deciple as well, we were wondering what you think about this. Some want to restart it and have 3 in NFC and 3 in AFC that way we have a chance to meet in the superbowl and people can pick their favorite teams.

I also posted in the other madden post that we have a franchise going on now and if they want to join to let us know.

The other thing we wanted to do was because of the lopsided trade/s that you could balance it out more by sending a starter offense or defense to NE to for a scrub to balance out the moss trade, the Cinci one was not too bad the same would be asked of for deciple and Lionman as well.

Or the other option that some of the guys wanted to do was for me to open the trading again and let every one do one trade one for offense and one for defense.

Because of the trade logic being broken for the CPU, I think we should just leave it to human to human instead unless we set it up to make it so it's more balanced(realistic).

My frustration with T-Dot's Non-Starting League has reached its point. I've come to the realization that we'll never get that one going.

I'm on the fence about joining this league, though. The main reason being, I don't really have time to sit around and draft 54-players (assuming it's just like a fantasy football draft where everyone takes a turn and picks one at a time). Call me weird, but I'd rather just take the 6-10 Packers instead of drafting an entire team. Does it take a long time to do a draft?

Also...I work second shift so really, playing between 2 PM-Midnight EST wouldn't work for me. Would that conflict with any certain time when games get played?

If someone can answer those two questions, I'll be able to make a decision about joining the league.

Well, some of the guys wanted me to start another one so that they would have their teams. So I did right now there are 6 of us we want 3 in the AFC 3 in the NFC Smiggity, I say we just scrap the fantasy one we have in favor of this one.

It seems that most want just the regular rosters. I wanted to be SD, I know another guy said Baltimore, deciple wanted either Tenn. or ATL. and TH wanted WAS. I know Snoopy wanted either DAL. or CHI. Smiggity who would have in mind? Also how do feel about trades? Should we allow one CPU trade per team, with some sort of realism? Or another option would be to only allow a bad team to perform a trade or pick up a FA? What do you think?

aaronmills, the draft does take a while and I also prefer just using regular rosters. What time would you be able to play? The only issue would be when playing against another human controlled team, but their is a option to simulate that game and move ahead also.

I can play pretty much every day during the week except between the hours of 2 PM-Midnight EST. I normally don't home from work until about midnight and would need a few minutes to get logged onto my PS3 and everything. On the weekends, I'm very flexible as to when I can play since I have most weekends off. I've got some random things already planned over the next few months, but if it came down to it, I could always sim a game if need-be.

As long as we keep the rosters in place (mainly to cut down on having to draft an entire team), I'd like to join the league as the Green Bay Packers.

I'm okay with allowing one trade per team. That way, if someone gets injured, you can try to replace him.

I'm very interested - but can someone explain how/when a fantasy draft would work for the league? Is it like fantasy drafting for regular fantasy leagues (round by round)?

So if I picked the Cowboys, I could have Tom Brady as my QB, T.O. as my WR, etc?

I'm pretty sure we're sticking with the actual rosters for the team you sign up with, but are allowing one trade during the season. That'll help you replace an injured player or try to get someone you really want on your team. Doing a draft would just take too long. 54 rounds is a little much.

Hey guys how does this sound about trades?
If you do decide to do a trade let's make it somewhat fair and keep it within 6pts.

Which means if you want a 90 OVR you have to give up a 84 OVR. The reason for this is because the trade logic is broken in the online franchise and they wont let you trade draft picks.

But there is a rookie draft at the end of the season. EA didn't put a TON of features in the online franchise but I hope in next years game they will really build upon it.

On another note I wish that when doing the online franchise they gave us the option to turn the speed down to slow. I just like the flow of the game so much better when playing it that way. BTW, I got beat by the mother fuckin' Raiders! In my 1st game... LT was hurt for a quarter and McFadden tore me up on some big plays.

i keep losing the server connection to the franchise partway through games - I also drop head to head games online frequently. Is there some kind of network problem going on?

Snoopy and I had issues last night when we were playing. We were late in the 2nd quarter when the first game got dropped. I thought it was a problem with my wireless network, but after changing to a wired connection and starting again, it booted us in the first quarter.

Snoopy and I are supposed to give things a-go later tonight. Hopefully things are working by then because it's getting pretty annoying.

shawnk380 it all good, we are mainly just playing to have fun. I used to play nothing but NCAA and Madden for I don't know how many years, but then Metal Gear Solid game out and changed what types of games I play, so sports game kind of took a back seat for me. This year's madden is pretty good and the group of guys we have are pretty good about getting their games in so the league should move quickly.

I'm actually looking forward to next years game to see what features they add to the online franchise,hopefully it will be more fleshed out then this years version.

I've never come anywhere close to being that bad before. I think I was 6 of 20 for 80 yards with 2 picks and 0 TDs. I didn't know I played that bad until I checked the stats afterwards...I only lost 10-0.

It stinks because the first time Snoopy and I tried to play our game, I tossed an 80-yard TD pass to go up 7-0 and then the game had connection problems.

I seem to be either really good or really bad. And when it's bad...it's really bad.

Shaun Hill may have been decimated, but don't feel bad because Aaron Rodgers was "decimal-pointed" in my season opener. Stupid 0.8 QB Rating.

I've discovered that if you can hang around kicking field goals (if you can't get into the end zone), eventually the CPU makes a mistake and your can take advantage. I think I was only up 6-0 late in the 3rd Quarter against the Bengals when my defense made a couple picks and helped set up a couple scores. Similar things have happened to me in my offline franchise as well.

Week 3's up and running. Rack-up another win for the Packers against a winless team (first the Bengals, now the Rams). Seems like I can only beat teams that have a zero in their win column. Luckily, playing in the NFC North, the Lions are on my schedule twice. :lol:

Odds are the 2-game winning streak will come to an end for me in week four when I match-up with YesterdaysRising and the Minnesota Favre-lings.

I'm not in charge of the league so I can't verify it, but I would guess that the games that weren't played were simulated.

Last night, I decided to go into our franchise just to look at the standings and was surprised to see that Week 3 was already active. I figured we'd have one week to get our games in, but when I opened the "League News" it said that games must be played within 3-4 days of the week changing. That was a bit of a surprise.

I was hoping for 3-4 days after the week has advanced(to make the league go quicker, some were complaining) but I can extend it until 5-7 days. Other changes I made are 6min qrts from 7 min(W/accelerated clock) I also opened up trading limit 1 per team and must be within 5 pts.

Thanks for the updates, js1. I don't know what everyone elses thoughts are, but I'd rather have the week change every 5-7 days. Some teams (especially us in the NFC North) have more games versus actual users so it might be best to have a bigger window to line up a time to play.

Also...would it be possible for you (or some other person) so post on this page when the next week will advance? Maybe if we have a specific day that we need to get our games in by it'll help.

Does anyone know if the "TS" (times started) column has an effect on anything? My week one game with Snoopy has a three...my week two game has a one...and my week three game has a two (started it twice because I started playing and didn't have enough time to finish before work).

I'm guessing it's only there so you can call-out the guys who have a "5" or something under the TS column because they restart the game everytime they're about to lose.

That's sounds good to me. Limiting it to two should help prevent people from restarting against the CPU until they win.

lost to the computer again. I came back from being 17 points down in the third quarter but they scopred a touchdown with 30 seconds left. I'm getting a little better. I'm hoping to snag a win from the cpu before the season is over. what is the difficulty set to in this league? With default difficulty on, my niners look like the Steelers. This must be ratcheted up a couple notches right? If any cpu opponents get into the playoffs we should reseat the highest human players with the next best records into those teams.

The settings are on all-pro. The highest setting is all-madden. Also Snoopy decided to rejoin as the Steelers. He was upset because the league was not moving fast enough.

I don't know if he has been disconnecting, I think he has connection issues. Because even in a private chat the connection takes a minute to connect. I know he has a faster connection than me, but he had some possible router issues and he lives in an apt. so maybe someone leeching off of him?

I'm hoping to snag a win from the cpu before the season is over. what is the difficulty set to in this league? With default difficulty on, my niners look like the Steelers. This must be ratcheted up a couple notches right? If any cpu opponents get into the playoffs we should reseat the highest human players with the next best records into those teams.

YesterdaysRising and I played our week 4 game last night. He beat me 37-31. Losing the game wasn't the worst of it for me, though. Ryan Grant suffered a season-ending pectoral muscle tear on the first play of the game so I'll have to rely on my backups for the final 12 games of the season. :bomb: I actually came back from a 28-10 2nd quarter deficit to pull within three late in the fourth quarter, but just couldn't come through in the end.

Adrian Peterson got injured three times for him and left for good in the second quarter so it turned into an Aaron Rodgers vs. Brett Favre game the rest of the way. Unfortunately, YesterdaysRising picked Rodgers four times in the game. Three were returned for touchdowns...yes, that's right...three. The fourth came on my final drive of the game that sealed the win for Minnesota.

Besides that devastating injuy to my backfield, I had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to a rematch with the Vikes in a couple weeks - this time at Lambeau.

Yes, it was a good game. After Peterson decided that getting hurt 3 times was enough, I had no offense, haha. My defense held up pretty well though so it worked out. It was a good ending too. I especially enjoyed my pick to end it :-) I'm just glad that I'm playing the computer next week cause Peterson is out with a dislocated elbow. I'm sure glad it's only a week though.

Hopefully it does. I went through all the teams and Slaton was the closest runningback overall-points-wise to Ryan Grant, which is why I decided to try doing that trade.

I think the rule is that we have to keep the overall points to within 5 (although I think it says 7-points in the actual Franchise News and 6-points earlier in this thread). I don't remember how many we're limited to, but I believe it's only one trade.

In a way, that's kinda right. In massive roster update, it says that they removed Michael CRAP-tree from the 49ers roster since he's more interested in setting the Guiness World Record for longest holdout than he is in suiting-up.

@Wyatt: You know I'm a Favre fan, but being a Packers fan trumps that for me...and that means I'd like the Vikings to lose so GB can take the NFC North. I was bummed (although not as much as you) about the game. The fact that Minnesota won on pretty much a "Hail Brett" pass (I think that's what the NFL is calling it now) when you only had Frank Gore in there for one carry because of the injury has got to be frustrating. If Gore would've been healthy, the Niners would've won by a landslide.

In other NFL News...I was glad to see the Lions finally win. Players were crying after the game and everything - it was crazy. I'm a TV sports anchor in Michigan and told our viewers this week that the Lions were going to win (first time I've ever done that). I also picked the Lions in my Yahoo Pick 'em League. It was a frustrating loss to say the least. I think it's the fact that Brett has done it to us so many times. And that calls tend to go his way in these games. As they were driving down the field my buddy and girlfriend were poking fun at me, and I asked them "do you really want to see Favre every time you turn on espn next week?" Last night they showed that pass literally 5-10 times on the NBC game.

With the Cardinals abysmal play yesterday, I have to feel a lot better (even though I like the cards).

I had no idea you were a sports anchor Aaron. Glad you had some good news to report finally. Hopefully the lions can win a couple more this year. I think bad things happen to that organization once the NFL becomes uncapped. Lions have a good football market, with no money, and an owner who is clueless. Out here we call them Raiders. Hopefully the team can rally around what they have and stay afloat. It'll help a lot if they stop drafting 5 wide receivers every year with no one to throw them the ball.

A couple plays into my first posession, they hit me as I was throwing and a D-Lineman and returned my 2-yard wounded duck of a pass for a touchdown putting me down 14-0 early. Thankfully, I came back and won 34-24.

It looks like whoever has the Giants ("guitatrplyr" or something like that) had a pretty easy time with the Saints...on his third re-start. Hopefully he was having connection problems because 3 restarts? As the ESPN Monday Night countdown guys say, "Come on, Man!"

I just got started playing Uncharted 2. I'm a little over a third of the way through it and love it. I beat the first game. It was fun, but had its flaws (control-wise and story-wise...especially toward the end). Uncharted 2 is just plain fun...even more fun than getting a field goal blocked and losing by three points to the Vikings in Madden.

dsheinem and I got our game in today. It took three tries because the EA server was being a prude. The first time we played it was tied 7-7 early in the 3rd when we got kicked-off. A second attempt didn't go anywhere. After that we were pressed for time so we decided to play just the first half - winner takes all.

I squeaked out a 10-7 win. The final score in the schedule reads 19-7 because I had to finish the game to make it count. We were just going to quit, but it wouldn't let us keep that as a final score. After dsheinem left, I played the CPU the rest of the way. I wish there was a way to accept a forfeit like in regular online play because I felt bad for "padding my stats" with 9-more points.

Okay, I got my game in as well. After today I am going to sim to the next week. I think what I will do is giver everyone until Monday to play their games. Just to keep it moving.

Dubbfoolio and I got our game in today. I think the final score was 21-10. It was tied 7-7 early, but right after Dubb tied it, I managed to return the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. That pretty much turned the game right there. Had I not taken the kick back I think the game probably would've had a much different outcome.

Up next on the schedule: the CPU-controlled Lions for a Thanksgiving day game. Here's to hoping I can handle Detroit just like the real Packers did this year.

That happened to me when Dubbfoolio and we tried to play our game earlier this week. I quit Madden, restarted it and then it let me log into the Madden servers. I don't know why it worked, but it did. If all else fails, turn it off and try again.

You pick a team and play their entire regular season schedule. Some weeks you play against actual players, some weeks you play against the CPU - it depends if an actual user has that team or not. I think our league here has 9 or 10 user-controlled teams.

For example, last week I played against the CPU-controlled Lions since no one has them as their team. Next week, I'll play against a user-controlled Ravens team because someone has that team.

We're one week behind the actual NFL schedule right now in case you're curious as to how many more games we'll be playing. We'll go all the way through the Super Bowl as well. If you were to join this franchise, you'd be jumping in at week 12 or whatever week we're on.

Whether you get in on this franchise or another random one, I'd suggest doing it. I'm definitely not the greatest Madden player in the world, but I've gotten way more play out of Madden this year compared to past years because of the online franchise.

Lionsman and I got our game in last night and wow, did I dodge a bullet?!

After leading 10-0 at the half and then taking an extended halftime to change a diaper (:lol:), Lionsman scored a TD in the third to make it 10-7 heading into the fourth.

With two minutes left I drove down field and got picked in the red zone. Lionsman drove all the way down the field and made it to the five yard line with two seconds left (thanks to a facemask penalty by me that stopped the clock). He lined-up for the 22-yard field goal to send it to overtime, but "sh'doinked" it off the left upright as time expired giving the Packers a crazy 10-7 win over the Ravens.

I'm not having a good week. I went 14-0 through my fantasy football season and get knocked out first round by the guy I helped get into the playoffs by trading him some people. Now I play the Cardinals in Madden and lose by a field goal after my first game was interrupted by my power going out when I unplugged something from an outlet. If my luck keeps up, I might have to shoot for the wild card. By the way, congrats Millsy!

I haven't run into this problem. I've had games freeze in past while playing online, but never during a replay challenge. In fact, I've done replay challenges in our online franchise and never had a problem (knock on wood). Odds are the Madden server was just having problems. I've noticed that it isn't exactly the most reliable server for playing online games. I had a stretch where three-straight games froze before they were done.

Every person in the league plays against the CPU so there shouldn't be any scheduling issues.

I will advance things again on January 6th (or earlier if people get their games done before then). At that point, I will look at the league schedule and if there are any teams that haven't tried playing their games for 3-straight weeks, they will be kicked out of the franchise. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but if a player goes 3-weeks without attempting to play a game, they obviously don't want to be (or have time to be) in the franchise.

We need to get this thing moving, so let's do this!

Don't worry about it, Wyatt. If you don't get your game in, that's okay. I decided to put the "3-strikes out you're out" rule in effect mainly for people who have actual human opponents left.

For those who only have CPU opponents left, you can ignore the "you're gonna get booted" rule. If you get your games in, cool. If not, I'll just simulate them.

I think myself, Lionman and Snoopy are the only ones who play non-CPU's from here on out anyway.

Glad you got your game in, Craig. And I was happy to take things over so we can get the schedule moving again. We started off pretty good, then started slowing down as the season went on. Once I advance the schedule, I'll probably give it another week (or sooner if people get their games in) before I advance it again. Since we're down to only 6 player-controlled teams left, we don't really have to worry about scheduling conflicts.

Also...in case anyone's curious, Snoopy said he wants out of the league so he gets the award for most teams used (Two: Bears & Steelers) and most teams given-up with as well. :lol: Lionman said that he wants dibs on taking over the Steelers. Good news for him because he inherits a one-loss team. Bad news for me because I play the Steelers next week. ;)

I advanced the schedule this morning around 1 AM EST so we're in Week 15 now: three more games to go before the postseason.

Snoopy asked to leave the league so I booted him at his request. Everyone else will be allowed to stay in the league for the duration of the year whether you play your games or not because myself and Lionman (who will be taking over the Steelers) are the only players who have games against non-CPU-controlled teams the rest of the way. We play this week. After that, it's player vs. CPU for the rest of the regular season until the playoffs start.

6 player-controlled teams remain: 4 in the NFC, 2 in the AFC.

Here's when I'm planning on advancing the schedule:

Week 15->16: January 12th
Week 16->17: January 19th
Week 17-> Postseason: January 26th

This will allow everyone a full week (including a weekend) to get their games in. If all games are played before the deadline, I will advance the schedule early and we'll adjust things accordingly.

REMINDER: The schedule will be advanced on January 12th. If you choose to have your games simulated through the remainder of the regular season and end up making the playoffs, you must play your playoff games. Players who do not manually play their playoff games will be removed from the league.


I got my game in today. I played Lionman for the second time in two weeks. I beat him when he was the Ravens, but he got revenge and then some as the Steelers.

I trailed 21-14 with about three minutes to go in the game when I failed to convert on a fourth down. Lionman then drove down the field and scored a TD to make it 28-14. I drove down field and then got picked off in the Red Zone. My defense stuffed him three times trying to run out the clock, but to add some salt to my wound, Lionman ran a fake punt that ended with an 89-yard touchdown. In the end it looks like I got blown out, but in reality it was a pretty tight game. If I wouldn't have turned it over three times inside the 20, I think I would've taken him again.

At any rate, that now drops me to 10-4 on the season so if the Vikings win-out, they'll take the Division. Here's to hoping for a CPU upset (sorry Craig)! ;)

I have advanced the schedule. As requested, I went ahead and booted dsheinem. That leaves us with just 5 players in the league. SmogItUp wants me to sim his remaining regular season games and dubbfoolio hasn't played his games for a while so once myself, YesterdaysRising and Lionman have our games played for this week I'll advance the schedule again. I'm going to be out of town from Saturday-Monday so I don't be able to advance the schedule during that time.

I got my game in late last night/this morning and barely escaped Seattle with a win. And I mean BARELY. Seattle had two defensive touchdowns (one fumble recovery and one INT return) and was up 17-14 on me with about 2 minutes to play. I drove down field and managed to score a touchdown with less than 30-seconds to play for a 21-17 comeback win. As far as games against the CPU go, this was the most exciting one I've played all season. A win kept me in the Wild Card picture and also earned me the "Super Bowl MVP-like" trophy.

I just played my week 17 game and captured my division title and I must say, I am NOT happy about it... Favre got hurt and is out for 10 weeks with a broken collarbone. So now I have Sage Rosenfels as my starter for the playoffs with an AWESOME rating of 69. I wonder if I can put Adrian Peterson in at QB and RB, hahaha. My post season is doomed but I will not give up!

Ya, well, I thought it was funny how he got taken off the field but at the end of the game, he ran out and was talking to the reporters, haha. I lost to the cards a couple weeks ago. They were tough. Probably the toughest CPU team I've played all year. But either way, I looked at the standings on the website and you've definitely clinched a wild card spot. Nobody else in the conference can catch your record, except for a two division leaders, even though it doesn't show you've clinched in the standings on the game.
