they probably overstocked Batman like crazy. It seems like a good game but I think it has no staying power and will drop like a stone.

Whoa. Is the $5 coupon still good? Heck with ECA you get it at $43 plus $10. That's awesome.

The $5 off coupon has expired (was only for pre-orders apparently). I'm guessing they swapped promos.

they couldnt offer this during the preorders?!?!?!

i was somewhat annoyed as well when i saw this since i pre-ordered, but keep in mind that we were able to get $5 automatically taken off with the coupon code so the difference is really $5 if you pre-ordered versus now. worth losing sleep over? probably not!

its to bad they raised the PS3 CE that was only 89.99 yesterday but full price today, i would've jumped on that.

Part of the reason why I'm going to wait a little while to preorder Uncharted 2.

Sawboss

I am kind of bummed too, but of course it is the risk of waiting and in this case those who waited lucked out. Still can not wait for this game.

Wow. Does Amazon want our preorders or not? I thought they got this out of their system last year after that rash of games that suddenly dropped $5-10 the day after they came out. Seeing something like this certainly makes me think twice about preordering future games. Doesn't seem like very good business for Amazon.

has gotten great reviews overall, but I think this game will be had for 30 before xmas.. too many good games coming out, and that is CLASSIC "eidos" to drop a game price when all the other good games come out in late fall/early winter.. certainly by the time Mass Effect 2 is out in January. I am waiting it out.. the demo is fantastic though. enjoy it if ya got it.

dude bottom line is it is august. you guys realize that this is the slowest month in the video game season. obviously the owners are thinking, lets sell this game as much as we can before the fall season hits and games such as drakes 2 and cod steal our thunder...

game will be 39.99 in october, guarantee that it will be 29.99 on black friday.

I don't understand why you people think this is going to drop like a rock. Batman is more popular than ever at this frame of time. This game could ride on the coat tails of TDK for awhile and be just fine. Even without that extra help though the game is absolutely fantastic, and is going to sell a bunch. Batman isn't just some random no name video game character. Hes the most popular super hero around right now.

I don't think that's true here. This is a strong word-of-mouth game. It's a game that your friends play and tell you how great it is.

Lol, Amazon's procrastination in shipping my game may pay off. They raised the price of the PS3 version by $1 though, so after coupon comparison it's really only a $4.10 difference. Hell, I may just cancel my order altogether since this game seems to be in a race to hit the bargain bin and I'm really in no hurry to play it. Now that I think about it, that's the route to go.

Thanks Amazon, your poor processing service has proved useful after all!

Stop being dramatic; the only time I could see this happening is extreme cases where a person just orders stuff to return it constantly. If it's a valid return over dissatisfaction with not honoring a current promotion, then that's on Amazon. It's in their best interest to just keep the consumer happy and a customer for life than incur more shipping/overhead expenses.

I've had wonderful experiences with Newegg, Buydig, et cetera in honoring price drops or promotions a few days after it was shipped or received. I'd be shocked if Amazon doesn't harbor the same level of customer service, especially when some orders haven't even shipped yet.

Well after feeling unhappy. I emailed them and they gave me a 10 dollar off credit on my next purchase you can't really beat that, I went ahead and bought Tiger Woods Wii for 39.99 which is on sale and then had another 10 off to pay 29.99 shipped making my Batman a very reasonable 37.99 plus free MP3 album. I have to admit Amazon has bent over to keep me happy. I will now STFU about them not taking care of customers because they have consisantly. Every time I have had a problem they have taken care of it very timely. This was Amazingly FAST I have to say. So if you pre-ordered Batman and want this 10 dollar credit I suggest you email, do not call as there phone servce is not as good in exp.

Amazon's CS resolution has been great but the response time has been poor lately. I never get a response within the promised 12 hours. I shot an email regarding Batman 12 hours ago and I hadn't gotten anything back.

The slow response time did help me with Halo:ODST for the 5 dollar extra GC email inquiry. Fired one and another one after 24 hours of no response and both emails were finally replied with first one taking 5 dollar off initial order amount and second one applying the code.

It could be worse, they could claim they shipped your order on Monday and then as of close of business thurs there is still no record of your package with POST OFFICE. I fear they have lost my package. They claim I should give it time but I'm getting Angry I want my Batman, if the post still does not have and they charged my card on the 24th I don't know where it is. It sucks.

Same. I guess they're cock-blocking existing orders from canceling until they ship due to the new promotion. Sent in my e-mail, so we'll see what their stance is on items not yet shipped. In all honesty, we should be eligible regardless of when the order was placed since the only stipulation is:

I called and got the run around a few times, got someone in the Philippines and then someone in India. The first woman didn't understand a thing I said.

Me: I'm calling about my Batman Arkham Asylum order #####
Her: Is this about your BioShock 2 order?
Me: NO it's about my Batman order. Whole thing about when I ordered, why I have $10.20 off already (ECA and $5 code) and why I should get the $10 credit since my order hasn't even shipped and the promo says I get it 2 days after my item shipped.
Her: I'm sorry I cannot apply any promo to this order because it is in the shipping process
Me: I do NOT want you to apply a promo to this order, I should be getting a promo from amazon for ANOTHER FUTURE order.
Her: I see what is going on here, the promo is not applied because you can only apply 2 promos at a time...
Me: I'm not trying to apply a promo...can I speak to someone in America?
Her: I'm sorry we cannot transfer calls her.
Me: I'll just call back then and hope I get someone in America.
Her: OK I added notes to your account.
Me: Thanks *click*

The last woman kinda understood and just gave me a $10 promo for a future order. Overall I got what I wanted, but I was very aggravated.

As indicated in the online description of the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" offer, we will send your promotional certificate via e-mail within 2 days after the order ships.

If your order meets all of the offer's terms and conditions, you should be receiving your promotional certificate by August 28.

Not quite what I was looking for, but I guess I can try again if the cert doesn't show up.

Hi, it's come to my attention that there is currently a promotion for the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game:

"Get a $10 Video Games Credit
Order Batman: Arkham Asylum and get $10 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships. Offer valid for a limited time and only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time."

This applies to both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game. Does it also apply to the PC version? It wouldn't seem fair to leave out PC users.

I currently have a pre-order for the PC version (which comes out on Sept 15) and I would be overjoyed if I applied for this promotion. The promotion states, "The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships", and indeed my copy will not be shipping for another 2 weeks. This gives me hope, and I have friends who have had success in getting this credit for orders that were placed prior this promotion going live.

Thanks for your help!

And now we wait...

I called amazon today to get this $10 gc since I just bought this on Monday and they gave it as a promo.

In short:
$52-$5 arkham promo for amazon -$30 in trade in promo credit -$10 in this GC I just got back, bought Batman AA for $8. Which, was paid for with GC I had. :D

Got my $10 promo as well. Can't beat $36.99 after coupon and $10 gift card! (Well, I guess the TRU deal with the $30 GC was technically better, but still for a great new AAA release...)

EDIT: Oh, forgot that I got the extra $30 promo credit as well, but I considered that I used that towards Metroid Prime Trilogy.

He emailed. I backtracked his first post from the 2nd page of this thread. It also apparently takes a long time for people to get a response from them via email...roughly 5-8 hours. I sent Amazon 2 emails. The first one regarding the $10 GC...the second reiterating the issue while reminding them that I am aware they are either refunding or applying the promo to customers in my exact situation.

If they refuse...I will keep going, and going until I get it. Since they have already given it to many here...they have no credible excuse not to give it to anyone else who asks that are in the exact same situation.

I paid with credit anyway, so they refunded me $10 of my credit back.

So now, after coupon and ECA I'm down to paying $33 (in credit, lol) for this game.
Because I never do this, I even said my game case was damaged, and they are refunding me 20% of that. I'll post when I get that amount.

Emailed to complain and ~10 hr later received an email replied that I would be receiving the $10 GC promotion. Thanks for the post!

I just called customer service and had somewhat of a difficult time getting it applied, but eventually got it. :)

Gist of my conversation:

Me: Hi, I'd like to get the new $10 promotion for Batman Arkham Asylum applied to my order.
Rep: I'm sorry, we can't do that because your order has already shipped. You can return the item and then order it again for the promotion.
Me: That doesn't make sense -- me returning it would be a hassle for both myself and Amazon. There must be a way to get it applied. Is there anyone in your office with the authority to do so?
Rep: Let me fiddle with your account a bit more and try. May I place you on hold?
Me: Sure, thanks.

(couple minutes later)

Rep: Alright sir, I can apply a $5 promotion to your order.
Me: Why only $5?
Rep: Because you had a $5 MP3 promotion when you first ordered.
Me: Well, I'm honestly never going to use that, so can you remove it and give me the full $10 video game promotion?
Rep: Alright sir, I was able to apply the full $10 promotion to your account in addition to the $5 MP3 credit.
Me: Excellent, thanks for your time!

Morale of the story: Don't be afraid to push, but do it nicely. Stay polite. These are the people trying to help you out... yes, I hinted that I wanted to speak to a manager, but I didn't stress it or yell at the rep in any way. The transcript here is really shortened, the actual conversation between me and the rep was rather long, but my tone of voice was pleasant, a bit inquisitive, and definitely not complaintive.

Good luck everyone!

Wow Amazon are fucking retarded. It's actually outrageous how stupid their customer service is.

My email:
Hello,

I recently ordered Batman: Arkham Asylum a few days ago, and I noticed today that a $10 gift card promotion is being offered by Amazon for purchasing this game. I wanted to know if it was possible to apply this promotion to my order, especially since it has not shipped yet. Thanks.

Their reply:
Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I have investigated your order and can assure you that $10.00 of promotional funds were applied to this order.

Here are the details:

Order Total: $52.99
Shipping & Handling: $ 4.49
Total Promotions Applied: - $14.79 ($10.00 item promotion & $4.49 Free Shipping)
=============================
Order Total: $42.69

The remaining $42.69 will be charged to your credit card.

It seems people are having varying degrees of success in their efforts with Amazon's customer service, as would be expected (different CS representitives, order placement times, shipped/unshipped, etc). So I thought it would be helpful to explicitly list my deal with Amazon on this game.

Preordered August 24th @ $46.99 (free super saver shipping, $5 instant coupon, artbook, $5 mp3 credit). The game is not shipped and is not estimated to be shipped until Aug 31.

Emailed CS this morning about the $10 gift card as follows:

Hello,
I ordered this item a couple of days ago. When I was browsing your site today I saw that the item now has a $10 promotional offer. Will this promotion be added to my order, or should I cancel my order?
Thanks...

Received an email ~10 hrs later which read:

Hello,
I checked your order and found that $10 promotion will be applied to your order.
As indicated in the online description of the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" offer, we will send your promotional certificate via e-mail 2 days after the order ships.
If your order meets all of the offer's terms and conditions, you should be receiving your promotional certificate by September 2.
If you have not received your certificate by this date, please let us know by filling out the e-mail form on this page:...

Hope this helps. We will see if I get my gift card come September 2.

I don't believe this is taking advantage of the system. Had this come maybe a few weeks after the release, then yeah, definitely. But this came out pretty much right after preorders ended, effectively punishing customers for placing orders early. Getting this promotion applied is much like the preorder price guarantee. Applying the promotion for Amazon is actually easier for them, since otherwise I know some people would go through the trouble or returning it, and rebuying it for the discount (this is even actually what CS told me to do at first).

Sounds like she was just confused or trying to get out of the conversation. She might have just assumed that you were impatient and didn't wait to get the GC (since Amazon does have a delay on them, and it must be common for people to complain). I'd say give them another call...

This works for PC pre-orders!

Hello,

I'm sorry, but in order to take advantage of this promotion, you must place a qualifying order during the specified promotion period, while supplies last.

However, due to the circumstances surrounding your order, I have made an exception to our standard policy.

I've reduced the cost of your item by $10.00. You'll be charged only $33.99 for this item when it ships.

I hope this solution works for you. We look forward to seeing you again soon.Item(s) Subtotal: $33.99
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Promotion Applied: -$3.40 (ECA)
Promotion Applied: -$5.00 (5OFFARKHAM or whatever the coupon was)
-----
Total Before Tax: $25.59
Estimated Tax: $0.00
-----
Grand Total: $25.59

Minus the $5 MP3 credit... Essentially picked this up for 20 bucks. That's AWESOME; technically this promotion isn't even being offered for the PC version.

I've STILL never paid more than $35 for a game, ever. My cheapness remains intact.

You'll see your available promotional balance at checkout--this amount will be applied to your next order automatically without entering a claim code. I emailed last night, and just got an email that my account was updated and the next game I order the $10 off will automatically be deducted.

So technically I paid $75 for my Collector's Edition, using just the Amazon reduced price on the item, the $5.00 ComicCon code, and this $10 promo code.

If I bought the standard version in a store around here it would be $65 with tax, so basically I got the Collector's Edition extras for $10.

EDIT: Just tested out putting a game in my shopping cart and a $10.00 credit appears at checkout. Sweet.

My pre order hasn't shipped yet. The reply I got from Amazon was to click email link to notify once it has shipped and they will then credit me $10.

My e-mail:Greetings,

I recently pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Asylum for the PS3 and today a new promotional $10 video games credit began. The promotion is as follows:

Order Batman: Arkham Asylum and get $10 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships. Offer valid for a limited time and only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

Will I receive this promotion since my order has not shipped yet, or will I need to cancel and re-order the game in order to be eligible? My only concern with having to re-order would be losing my place in line for processing/shipping.

Thanks for your help in this matter! Then the response ~8 hours later:Hello,

I'm sorry, but in order to take advantage of this promotion, you must place a qualifying order during the specified promotion period, while supplies last.

Because, I've made an exception to our standard policy. To correct this error, I've reduced the cost of your order by $41.99.

I hope this solution works for you. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Then I checked my order to confirm the changes:

Subtotal of Items: $41.99
Shipping & Handling: $4.49
Super Saver Discount: -$4.49
Promotion Applied: -$4.20
Promotion Applied: -$5.00
Promotion Applied: -$30.00
------
Total: $2.79
Gift Cards: -$2.79
------
Total for this Order: $-9.00

So by this method I actually only got $9 back since they recalculated the ECA coupon, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. I'm pretty happy with how it all came together and I'll never knock Amazon's slow processing again!

My advice for orders that have not shipped, explain the situation just as I did. You have considerably more leverage since the item is not in your hands yet. For people who have received their game, just tell them you have not received the promotion at least two days afterward. Good luck!

I'm happy, they charged my credit card back an additional 10 bucks (pays to ask). So 52 - 15 = $37.00, no tax, no shipping. Better deal than Toys R Us to me since I'd be spending more on another game with the 30 credit and have to pay tax...

Sent a note yesterday, and they responded saying it looks like the promotion is already in my account, which is not the case. I am guessing they are confused with an ECA code I have already added in the account from a recent cancellation.

They did say I was eligible in their response so hopefully it will pay off in the end.

Here is what they said:

"I do apologize for any misunderstanding that they may have been about this offer. As stated in the offer:

Get a $10 Video Games Credit
Order Batman: Arkham Asylum and get $10 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships. Offer valid for a limited time and only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

I've checked your account and can assure you that your $10 promotional certificate has been automatically redeemed onto your
account. You will not receive a claim code."

No one is reporting a damaged case except lilboo as far as I have seen. Amazon added a new promotion to the Batman Arkham Asylum page offering a $10 promotional credit if you buy the game. Some of us who preordered are e-mailing them about this promotion and they are allowing some of us to get the credit for it or a refund of the difference.

I sent them an e-mail too. I didn't mention that others have done the same and received either a $10 credit to their purchase or a $10 promotional code for a future purchase. I'll save that for the next e-mail if they deny me.

Also, I mentioned their policy of matching all prices and promotional offers for pre-orders. I then said that $10 promotion was offered before the game was shipped (I just got the e-mail confirming that today).

I pre-ordered way back on Aug. 6th with super saving shipping and didn't receive a shipping notice til 3am today. Estimated arrival is Sept. 4th, which is pretty lame. And to top that off, my order isn't even showing up on my account at all at the moment, which is strange. I went ahead and emailed them about the $10 promo, so we'll see how that goes.

Here's how my call went down:

Me: Hi, I purchased B:AA and I see that Amazon is offering a $10 video game credit promotion. Could I get this applied to my previous order?
Operator: Let me check...it says you already received a $10.30 promotion for this game and paid $42.xx
Me: Yes, but those were 2 separate promotions worth $5 and $5.30.
Operator: It says you received one for $10.30.
Me: Total, yes. But they were two separate promotions. One was a $5 coupon Amazon offered for pre-ordering the game. Another was a 10% discount I get from a membership to an organization. I want to know if I can get this $10 video game credit that Amazon is offering now to be applied to my order.
Operator: But you already receieved a $10.30 discount.
Me: Yes, but that is different. Amazon is offering a $10 video game credit, not discount. This would be a $10 discount on a future video game purchase.
Operator: Hold on please......Ok. Because you ordered this game before the promotion, you won't receive it.
Me: That's not really fair to me though because I pre-ordered the game from you guys and this promotion was added just days after the game was released. I don't really think it's fair.
Operator: Ok did you receive a promotion code from ordering?
Me: No. I ordered before this current $10 video game credit promotion. I wanted to know if I could apply it to my order by either receiving a $10 discount on this game or one in the future.
Operator: Hold on please...Ok, a $10 discount will be applied to a future video game order.
Me: Thank you.
I don't really believe her so I will try emailing. It was pretty ridiculous that I had to explain my $10.30 discount from the coupon and ECA.

I got basically the same response over the phone. She forwarded the request for the $10 credit to the "promotions department". I am somewhat skeptical that this will go through given that she tried to claim my ECA discount and coupon for a little over $10 was somehow the $10 credit under the promo. I do have to say that Amazon has really gone downhill in how they are handling customer service these days. It used to be that they would respond to e-mails in a few hours and the phone people actually seemed very well trained and aware of things. Now, it takes days to get a response and the phone people are clearly outsourced and not very well trained. The fact that they are suggesting to people that they return the game (at Amazon's expense by the way) and rebuy to get the credit is pure stupidity. It will cost Amazon probably $20-$25 to ship it back, handle the return and reship the new game.

Then the two emails I sent out yesterday I have gotten the following responses:

So Batman: AA for $42 - $10 GC - $10 Customer Service Complaints = fucking happy me

I tried explaining they were 2 separate promotions but she didn't get it. She was completely bewildered at the ECA discount. I didn't say it's the ECA, only that I'm a member of something and get 10% off game purchases. She couldn't seem to grasp that a $10 video game credit wasn't the same as a $10.30 discount.

I'll have to see if I got anything. I doubt it though. I would call or email again but I don't want them to think I'm trying to get it twice.

The fact that they are suggesting to people that they return the game (at Amazon's expense by the way) and rebuy to get the credit is pure stupidity. It will cost Amazon probably $20-$25 to ship it back, handle the return and reship the new game. She didn't suggest I return it and I wish she did so I could point out how dumb it'd be. She did say I'd have to reorder the game to get this promotion which is silly because I already have the game. Why would I want it again?

Does Amazon allow free returns? I returned something once last year and had to pay about $6 I think.

Tip for you guys that have been rejected and are sending again. Be firm, but polite. Do not sound angry or it will take you straight to "The Land of No Refund".

I sent two emails. But I sent the second one before giving them time to deny my first email. In the second one I mentioned that I was a bit unhappy with the better promotion that was offered to customers over the weaker promotion that was offered to a loyal customer like myself for pre-ordering. I explained that I pre-ordered from them because I pride myself in being a loyal Amazon customer, and thought I was receiving the best deal from Amazon over all other retailers that were offering other promotions.

I explained I was disappointed, because as a loyal customer, I felt I was penalized, rather than rewarded, for pre-ordering through them. Not only that...but that I was unable to cancel my previous order even though it has yet to ship, to take advantage of the better deal $10 GC.

In the end...my order was in the middle of processing...they emailed me and instead of a GC hey refunded $10 back to my CC. I was fully satisifed that they did the right thing...and in turn...I remain a fully loyal customer that will always continue to buy from them over any other retailer. Kudos to Amazon...THIS is how customer service should be run!

Point is...don't be timid in asking for the $10GC/refund. If you act timid, they will see there's no danger in losing you. But if you make a hard case for them to break...explain the facts...and at the same time your utter disappointment in them to the point of losing confidence in them, they will most likely cave in to secure your future business.

I also hope Amazon learns from this fiasco. Had they released this promotion 2-3 weeks after the release date...so many loyal customers that pre-ordered from them wouldn't feel so cheated and utterly disappointed. As they say...timing is everything, for good or for ill.

Entitlement isn't law. You can feel the need to try and get your deal on but you made the choice to purchase something knowing full well it WILL get cheaper in the future, just because it happens very soon doesn't automatically earn you the right to gain back the difference in price.

I just checked with Uncharted II. It works for me. It asked if I wanted to use my $15.70 gift and promotional certificates (I forgot I had an ECA code tied to my account, so that's where the extra $5.70 is from).

EDIT: As the email implied, my code works for everything and not just for video game stuff. I tried on a twilight book set (I like reading, and people around my keep on saying it's a good read. I didn't actually order it; I'll wait for a friend to let me borrow it or something). Got the $10 off for me.

Whether or not you agree or disagree with the people here who choose to pursue getting this $10 credit, this is CAG, a place for getting cheap deals. If you can get $10 by stating the facts (which amazon has access to if you choose not to tell them) and they still give you the $10 is that not what CAG is about? I understand if you lie, cheat, and/or steal to get $10, but no one here is doing so. If you disagree with this then that is your morals. People are posting that they got the $10 not to force others to do it, but to spread the information and to help those seeking this offer on an order they already placed.

I personally went after this $10 and got it because at the time the offer was live on the site my order hadn't even shipped. In fact my order shipped just last night, I'll be getting my game almost a full week after it was released. I know of other people who used FSSS and are getting their copy tomorrow or have already gotten it. Because amazon states that people get the $10 two business days after the game ships I believe I was within amazons stated rules because my game had no yet shipped. If my game was in transit or I had it in my hands when this offer was posted I would not have cared since my window of opportunity was gone.

I'm sorry if this is any inconvenience, and I appreciate any assistance provided. I've dealt with Amazon for a lot of purchases, and any problems arising from this matter will not change my purchasing preferences away from Amazon. Thank you in advance."

Actually, it does under most 30-day price guarantee policies. Whether you pursue it or not is a different story.

And Amazon no longer offers their post price guarantee, in fact they stopped doing it over a year ago, so no no one who ordered the game before August 26th is entitled to anything other than the $5 dollar credit to the Amazon MP3store.

I dont have a problem with trying to get the discount, like I said I just asked if I could get it and they gave it to me. I do have an issue though with people raising hell over getting the game for the best price anywhere before even factroring the credit like Amazon owes it to them.

Glad to see so many are having good results with this! I just fired off my own email to Amazon, noting that my game shipped after the new promotion began and that I was unable to cancel/reorder as their system had everything stuck in limbo for a week. Hopefully it goes through without a hitch. All said and done I'd have the game for $18.99 out of pocket ($51.99 - $5 - $18 GC - $10 promo = $18.99)

I also made sure to let them know (in a nice way) that I have ordered two games through them since placing my preorder for Batman plus I plan on purchasing additional games through the end of the year.

Entitlement isn't law. You can feel the need to try and get your deal on but you made the choice to purchase something knowing full well it WILL get cheaper in the future, just because it happens very soon doesn't automatically earn you the right to gain back the difference in price.

I believe that in some states a price-drop guarantee for a certain number of days is law.

They refunded $10 to my gift card account after my email. Took about 8 hours total. Thanks to all who went before me, I saw the new promo a few days ago and was like damn, and was prepared to let it go till I saw everyone else getting it back :) well done.

same here... couldnt complain about the price before, and it's j ust awesome now. my order actually did ship on time but with the wrong shipping, so i got 10 for that too. 90 - 9 eca - 45 (50% coupon) - 5 coupon - 10 shipping - 10 gc = 11 bucks..

all i said was "is my order eligible for the $10 gc promotion" and the next thing i saw was a refund email.

I'm still waiting for them to reply to my second email. If they reject -that- one, I might as well give up.

I was able to earn $10 back so that email thing worked. So Batman Arkham Asylum ended up costing $32 for me. I must say, Amazon has great customer service. Some months ago, my Ghostbusters Blu-Ray never came to my doorstop (due to theft most likely) and they immediately sent a new one to me after I reported it.

True, true. I'll be a little dissapointed if I don't get the $10 off code, but if people are raising hell over this little thing, I imagine they are only buying games once in a blue moon, because 80% of the time nobody does game deals better than Amazon.

I pre-ordered Batman Arkham Asylum for PS3 on 8/10 which arrived three days ago 8/25. Now, I see that Amazon is offering a $10 video game credit - how come this was not offered to me as I pre-ordered. Can you please provide this to me as I buy a lot of games from Amazon.Com

Your website says, Get a $10 Video Games Credit - Order Batman: Arkham Asylum and get $10 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships

Thank you for your attention in this matter

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com (http://amazon.com/).

I’ve checked our website and see that currently we offer a $10 off a future video game purchase.

This offer is only valid to the customers who places the order during the specified promotion period, while supplies last. We are unable to apply special discounts to items ordered before or after the dates of this promotional offer. Again, I am sorry if this causes you any inconvenience.

As this offer is currently not clear on our website as for as the promotion period we’ve contacted the appropriate department to let us know this. In the mean time, as an exception I’ve issued a $10.00 promotional certificate, which you can use the next time you order an item shipped and sold by Amazon.com. You'll see your available promotional balance at checkout--this amount will be applied to your next order automatically without entering a claim code.

Your promotional balance doesn't appear in Your Account but will always display when you place an order. For more information about using your promotional certificate, including the terms and conditions for using the certificate, visit our Help pages:

Sent my first email Thursday and never got a reply back. Sent a second one late last night explaining that I sent an email that was never answered and what the Batman situation was.

Received two emails back this morning. The first one was obviously in response to my first email that said basically, I was shit outta luck. Second email came just a few minutes ago saying they would be issuing me a $10 credit back to my credit card.

So if at first you don't succeed, try again!

And Amazon no longer offers their post price guarantee, in fact they stopped doing it over a year ago, so no no one who ordered the game before August 26th is entitled to anything other than the $5 dollar credit to the Amazon MP3store.You might have a case had they clearly outlined the promotional period, which they did not at first. For all people knew, it was running the whole time and they had not received theirs yet two days after shipping. For reference, this was the original statement:Order Batman: Arkham Asylum and get $10 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships. Offer valid for a limited time and only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. They've now exercised their right to change the promotion to starting August 26th, so anyone trying to claim it now may be SOL.

At any rate, it's hardly worth arguing over since people were well within their right to claim the promotion.

Never got a reply to my first email. Sent another one this morning, was told I didn't meet the qualifications BUT they would make an exception and I'd see a $10 refund in the next few days.

Got my CE in today. I'm impressed with it. Worth 100? Not really, but I paid a tiny fraction of that. I went ahead and shot a short nice e-mail about the credit, and I got it. So I did eventually convert, heh. I can see how atleast asking, considering anyone that pre-ordered got the short end of the stick, wouldn't hurt. But if I would have gotten denied that would have been it.

All I said was something like I noticed this promo, was wondering if it would stack with my deal already since I pre-ordered it or if I could get it, and I got a stock e-mail that I've already read in this thread. 10$ was put back on my gift balance the next day.

"Hello,

I've reviewed our previous correspondence and your order. I understand you're concerned about the $10.00 promotion on the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" that you ordered on August 21, 2009, and I hope I can help.

I do understand that this order shipped few hours before the promotion was launched. However, as my colleague mentioned in previous email, we will be unable to apply special discounts to items ordered before or after the dates of this promotional offer.

Again, I am sorry if this causes you any inconvenience.

I hope this helps to explain things more clearly. We look forward to seeing you again soon."

Fuck.

I want my credit, but this is getting on my nerves and I doubt a 3rd email will do any good.. Any suggestions?

EDIT:

"To Amazon.com Customer Service,

I have corresponded twice over the issue of the $10 promotion for "Batman: Arkham Asylum (360)"

This promotion was in-stated on the 26th under the following terms:

"Order Batman: Arkham Asylum and get $10 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships. Offer valid for a limited time and only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time."

I contacted said two colleagues of yours at that time. The promotion period was not listed in the promotion on August 26th and 27th, just that the credit would be awarded two days after an order of Arkham Asylum is shipped.

As you can see for yourself in the previous guidelines of the promotion.

I was rejected this promotion, even though my order shipped on August 26th. It's been over two days since it was shipped, therefore I should have gotten this $10 promotional credit. Fair is fair, even if on August 29th, the promotion was changed to the 26th+.

I'm a bit upset over this whole situation, since I have now had to correspond with customer service for over two days over this issue. It shouldn't be an issue.

Amazon.com is my absolute favorite website for ordering video games and other products, it's also why I'm a bit peeved when I see it's not the company I thought it was.

I hope you guys can clear this up, because I do wish to continue shopping at Amazon.com for years to come, but not if it comes with hassles like this situation."

Is that a good response?

hm a little annoyed/confused with my shipping from amazon. i bought the game thursday night with 2 day shipping. it was shipped early friday morning and the expected date of delivery was monday. but it arrived in edison, nj the same day and that's only about 20 min away. since amazon usually gets here really fast i figured i'd have it today...but when i checked the status today though it says it arrived in parsippany, nj this morning, which is 40 min away..and nothing about edison at all, weird.

I tried twice with my PC preorder (ordered on the 24th, won't ship till it releases on the 15th) and both times they said it'll automatically apply to my account 2 days after shipping and in case it doesn't, they gave a link to contact. Hopefully even though I ordered before the promo became active, I can show these emails to them in case they don't give me the $10 GC.

Basically explaining how their Alienating folks who pre-order, and basically this promotion encourage not to do future pre-orders.

I sounded all educated and shit, I even hit them with bullet points in the contruction of my paragraph, still rejected with that same exact rejection email word for word
