I've noticed quite a few CAGs are sports fan and since all of the sports boards I know are crappy I figured I would start a mini one here. As a New England native I like all Boston teams and here are some of my thoughts about them.

Celtics
Training camp starts Tuesday with media day being tommorrow. When will the first milk cartons with Gary payton's mug on them be produced? I'd like to see him in a Celts uni but with his current attitude I almost wish he would stay home. Ona good note with the recent realignment the Celts are in a weak ass division now that the Heat and Shaq have been moved out of it. A sub .500 record may be enough to win the division.

Red Sox
I really don't know if my sanity can hold up in another playoff series with a shaky manager. And god help us I think Arroyo may be our third starter.

Patriots
great game today. I worry about Brady's shoulder though it seems he misses a lot of throws that he didn't use to. Although he has probably been throwing the best long ball of his career so go figure.

Ok for you non-Boston sports fans here are some of my thoughts.

Glad to see the Astros get the last NL playoff spot kudos to them for not trading Beltran and giving up on their season.

Vinny Testaverde has 4 games left in him max if he is starting on your fantasy team I feel bad for you.

The rookie QB for the steelers looks solid that game was on the screen next to the Patriots game that I was watching at the casino bar. Maddox better get used to carrying a clip board.

I really really hate Peyton Manning he reminds me too much of Marino and I hope he follows Marino's example by never winning a ring

I had a very rough gambling day today, my 50$ 4 team parlay went horribly wrong. I can thank New Orleans and Washington for that. The Redskins should be ashamed of themselves, how the hell do you lose to Cleveland? I'd venture to say that any top 20 college football team could beat the Browns, they stink even when they are healthy and since they were completely banged up they really stink. I wonder how long Daniel Snyder will stick with Gibbs if things keep going like this?

#1 You have to give Gibbs time to install his system and i really think they should play the young QB. Gibbs has to fix all the things Spurrier Let go in the shitter. On New Orleans I have a friend who is a huge Saints fan and we both believe that Aaron Brroks in fact plays for Las Vegas bookies and not the saints. that guy does some of the stupidest things and I would never involve them in any kind of gambling

I don't know that the Browns are that bad. Their defense is pretty good. Offensively they still need considerable work, but I wouldn't say college teams could beat them yet. I was annoyed that Washington looked so terrible today, as a Steelers fan I need the Browns to lose continually.

I do think Snyder will stick with Gibbs for a while and things will even out for them in a year or two. Snyder is just a fanboy and he's not going to let Gibbs go easily, not with his name recognition.

One more thing I want to vent about. Felipe Alou. Man he sure does know how to fuck up a baseball game. Why in the hell do you leave Brett Tomko out there to start an inning when he was already around 120 pitches?!?! WHY? Then he brings in Hermanson to clean up the mess and that totally screws up Hermanson's rythym, closers do not like to come in unless it is the 9th inning in a close game, it just screws up there timing otherwise. And then all these pitching changes cause him to have to stick in Cody Ransom at SS as part of a double switch. Cody then makes a crucial error. Brilliant, simply brilliant. Then for the coupe de grais he takes out Herges (who used to close and is used to pressure situations and pitched well to the batter he faced) and sticks in Wayne Franklin who promptly offers up a grand slam to Steve Finley. God that pissed me off.

I know everyone nationally and locally was taking shots at the Colts' defense after last week's debacle against the Packers, but I'll stand up for them.

They gave up the points last week, but held strong when they had to. Take the strip of Walker as prime example.

But as a local fan, I'm incredibly impressed by the defense. Their league ranking may say worst in the league, but they are certainly far from that. Give up yardage, but not points (the GB game being an aberration). Bend, but not break.

How many times this year have they made crucial stops? How many times have they made game-changing plays? Up 'till today's game, all 6 TOs came in the fourth quarter. That's saying something. How many other plays have they made this year that have turned the game? Plenty enough to help the team to a 3-1 record.

Are they the Ravens? No. But they don't have to be. Just decent enough to keep the offense from having to change their game plan. Decent. Just decent. And that's what they are. No more, no less, but they're certainly not the worst.

They say defense wins championships. History shows that to be true, but there are 11 guys out there keeping the other team's 11 offensive guys from scoring. They may not be the Ty Law's or the Ray Lewis' of the league, but they get the job done.

They are our defense. And they should be enough to give the Colts a chance at a ring.

And this is my defense of them. See? A double defense. Not even Ray Lewis can claim that.

You are preaching to the choir for bad managers believe me I know.
I thought it was good for baseball to have so many playoff chases go intot he last weekend it usually isn't as exciting as it was this year

I think Washington has enough offensive talent to score more then 13 points on Cleveland, I mean the Browns have so many injuries on D it's ridiculous. Plus Gibbs gave that monday night game to the Cowboys, he got out coached by Parcells (I'm not complaining about that game since I am a Cowboys fan).

Yeah that Saints game was the game that worried me the most when I made the bet, Arizona has a really tough D and with no Duece, an unhealthy Joe Horn and a medicore defense, I figured I was in for trouble.

The colts defense will only improve under Dungy but with Manning on that team they are always going to play second fiddle. That division they are in looks weak all of a sudden witht he Titans off to a bad start. Although I wouldn't write off the Jaguars though they are a scrappy team and did the best job this season of holding down your offense

I think Vinny will make it through the entire season.

The Cowboys' O-line has been insane at keeping him safe. Unless it just breaks down for some reason and he gets a load of hard hits, I see no reason why he won't make it through the entire year.

Now what I would like to see is Drew Henson get some playing time. He's clearly our future at the QB position, and he looked pretty damn good in training camp for a guy whose been away from football so long.

Our future looks very bright right now. With Drew, Julius Jones, Antonio Bryant, Roy Williams and Terence Newman along with our two 1st-round picks next year, I'm very excited about the direction the Cowboys are going.

Yea you will be ok until Parcells leaves you in the middle of the night. If he does leave you better hope Jones avoids Pete Carrol like the plague
