The iHome is the best all-around speaker/radio/alarm/dock I've ever seen. It has a solid AM/FM radio and the sound quality is right up there with low-end offerings from other major companies like Sony/JBL. I would go with it. I have one, totally worth every penny.

As far as charging, your phone came with a cable and wall plug adapter.

Ok to be honest the iphone speaker can not wake me up, hence my need of a seperate speaker, also something i can turn off without looking at it/not worrying about placing back on the table.

I'm in the market for one too. Been looking at the Sony ICFC7IP. $66 on amazon, and looks like it'll do everything I need it to do. Although I'm still watching this thread for opinions.

The big reasons I tend to look at the sony over the iHomes are 1) iHome seems to come with a good set of speakers, which you pay a premium for. I have a jumbo sound system in my room to listen to music, so I don't need good speakers. It's really just an alarm clock/docking station for me. 2) I have points racked up on my Sony Rewards credit card I can put towards that model.

Just another option.

I have this one, got it on clearance at walmart for $30. It sounds good and pulls in the fm stations very clearly. My only gripe is the backlight is bright, even on the lowest setting, but it can also be turned off all the way.

Its not exactly what you asked for but this is what I use. I use it to charge my ipod video and iphone 3g. I use my iphone as my alarm. It is not a clock/radio/etc... but it is a cheap alternative that will serve the purpose of waking you up.

Skip that sony. I used my rewards on it and it isn't bad but seems to be fairly cheaply made. Quite certain that the dock that slides out will eventually break. Here is what I have, it works good and is solid.

Anyone looking for better sound can ignore all the suggestions they will get in here for the most part. BTW, the 1 I mentioned is at target for about $50. Target also is clearancing many of these clock radios currently. Check your target for a deal.

Since the iHome Zune one I have is almost identical here's a quick review:

Pros:

- Good sound quality for an alarm clock. Not audiophile quality mind you but far better than what you would expect. The bass and treble options really help out with letting you adjust the sound to more of your liking. The 3D enhance option didn't do much for me when I tested it so I've left it off.

- Many ways to setup when the alarm clock goes off. From multi day settings to letting you choose mp3/radio/buzz you got plenty of options.

- Daylight Time Savings switch on the back. No need to manually set the time forward/back. Small little thing but very nice.

- Ability to use an remote control with the alarm clock.

- Very nice looking. Nice sleek modern look to it.

Cons:

- Not a big con but worth mentioning (as someone else did)... the brightness on the back light is indeed a bit much. I had to fiddle around with constantly hitting the snooze button when the dock is off until I got the back light at a decent level to where I can still see the time in the dark yet its not overbearing.

- A few reviews online have mentioned the remote is really cheap. The iHome Zune did not come with the remote but gave me an offer to purchase it for $19.99 or so. Not including it with a product that already costs over $100 is a con right there. Thankfully for the iPod driven iHome ones the remote is included. In my case for my Zune one thankfully I was able to program my Harmony 360 remote to work with it. Probably better that way in the end anyways.

Overall:

Great alarm clock. A bit pricey but for what you get in the end its worth the money. The sound is quite good and its overall operations is nice as well. The few cons which aren't much don't outwight the pros at all.

4 out of 5 stars.
