i recently preordered modern warfare 2 regular edition with a trade 3, i was wondering if payed the difference i could buy the hardened edition of modern warfare 2

In my experience, yes, but I think it's a YMMV thing. You'll want to make sure to pre-order the hardened edition as it may not be as plentiful as the standard, though. I did a T3G1 for Halo 3 back in the day and on the day of (midnight opening) I asked if I could pay the $10 extra for the Limited Edition and it was no problem. Only issue would be stock!
