I know this isn't exactly a fancy sale or anything, this is the regular price, but it's still smoking hot. Future Shop has the Insignia 1080p 32" LCD HDTV for $499. Normally Insignia is a crappy brand not worth mentioning, however this particular model has a panel made by Samsung, and the scaler chips are from Sharp. I bought one a couple days ago, and it totally smokes any other budget tv I have seen, it even rival's my neighbours Sharp Aquos. It also has FOUR HDMI inputs, each with independant settings. Seriously, it's worth the price. It gave my PS3 new life.

I bought one of these at Best Buy about a month ago for the same price, but tbh, it kept doing weird shit, flickering whenever I changed the channel, and just things in general that a brand new TV should not do. It's contrast is also only 10k:1 which isn't that great for that TV. I ended up taking it back and getting the $649.99 Samsung model which had 50k:1 contrast, which looks absolutely stunning.

Dynamic contrast = marketing and massaging the numbers

Exactly. This panel actually has the same true contrast ratio/brightness as a series 4 release from samsung. which is needless to say pretty awesome. it has some minor flashlighting in the corners, but that's about it for nitpicks.

I purchased my 37" 1080p lcd hdtv for $549.99 last month at best buy. I'd spend the extra $50 for the 5 inches it's worth it plus @ best buy they were giving you 2 year warranty with insignia. You can check to see if they still have it for this price.

Insignia or not, nice price for a 1080p TV that large.

As an aside, I thought the Walmart Anniversary 50" plasmas were smoking hot until I saw that they're only 720p. They must be some old models or something.

yeah, i saw that back then too, but all i can fit in my bedroom is the 32". insignia has really stepped up their game on the lcd's.

Burn.

Thanks for the deal, I've been looking for a new TV to have in the living room for general use (I have the 32" Samsung in my room, it's the biggest I can fit in there).

Hmm. I always thought Insignia was a shit brand, but I have to admit, this got me to sit up and take notice. I was looking at spending around $300 to get the Samsung T220HD monitor as a way to get a nice HD TV set, but at this price, I'd glady pay the extra $200 to get that much more TV!

If only I had the extra $200 :(

QFT. It was brutal. The parkour scene at the beginning gave me serious vertigo BTW.

i am a noob does refresh rate make a difference for gaming? does it pixelate often with 60hz? instead of the new uber 240 hz tvs?

I thought most PC monitors ran 60hz by default? I just checked my laptop and that's what it's set at. Mind you, I don't game a lot with it...

the tv is absolutely fine for gaming, i had my pc hooked up through hdmi, ran crysis at 1080p, brought my 9800gx2 nearly to it's knees at max settings :P

Anywhere we can read about this? Can you provide a link?

dont remember the model, but i got a 32" insignia last fall for $350 for my parents and it seems pretty decent for the price. i would get an insignia for myself as a 2nd TV, no problems so far w/ it

Yeah, I'll be going back to university in January and I don't want to bring my 37" Samsung all the way there. This looks really nice.

I'd like the link too on the panel and scaler specs.

Nope. that info comes from me, i had my neighbor's set open to replace some caps that were fried by a power surge. I just saw the branding on the parts is all. however i am sad to say that my own set burned out this morning. I took it back, and they were out of stock so i got a samsung LN32B460

Sooo the TV you're lauding in the first post just burned out on you? That's what I call irony! Did you do a straight exchange for the Samsung or did you have to pay the difference?

Hmm, looks like I won't be picking up this one. A shame too, since the price is right and it has 2 years warranty. But I don't want to keep re-using that warranty.
