EBgames Canada Sept 2009

Two trades "deals" at EBGames for people with not-wanted-anymore DS or DS lite:

DSi sells for $184.99 price at EB now.
Note: I post the deals for information only, I do not find them wonderful.

1) Trade 1 DS lite + 2 Ds games $8+ for $100 credit or $100 off a DSi .

Source: EBgames Twitter "Time for an upgrade? Save $100 when you trade in your old DS Lite console and 2 DS games towards the purchase of a new DSi! *(cond's apply) "

Deal expires on: Oct 3, 2009 (thanks to 90sBulls)

2) Trade 1 DSi + 2 Ds Games $8+ for $150 credit or $150 off DSi: EB states that you can change DSi color with this deal (Pink and White Dsi now... wow!) ... so use it for Dsi or $150 in trade credit on Edge card (promo poster states you can get credit, not forced to get a new DSi)

Source: poster in store.
Deal expires on: Oct 3, 2009 (thanks to 90sBulls)

Thx OP,

I saw this promo at EB the day I picked up my pre-order for NFS:Shift. I traded my old dslite + 2 games ($8>) for $100 off a DSi.

However, my receipt shows that the DSi is actually $184.99.

This deal expires Oct.3, 2009

It can be a good deal ONLY if you a bad shape DSi.

Too bad they don't take in stuff in bad shape.

Yeah the new price is $184.99 apparently, in time for Xmas I guess.

Depends of your definition of bad shape. For some people more picky, small stuff is important... For me, I could not care less for 1-2 scratches, but some could find it important.

It can also be a good "deal" for people not willing to go to kijiji/craigslist and do not want their Ds anymore.

I would not suggest to trade a non-functionning DS, because it's not ethical and if they don't test it a lot, it will be someone else buying used that will have to fight with EB to get a working console.

Should traded in my DSL earlier...now that my hinge is on the fritz, I doubt I could take advantage of this.

thegamecubist, you should try it anyway. My DSL had a small chip cracked off in the left hinge. EB CSR inspected by turning it on, then later noticed the small chip and spoke to MGR. He said it's not a problem and the deal was done.

The problem is, everyone will say they wouldn't do it, but they always try to take advantage of the system. :(

Well,I would not trade a non-working console (never did trade consoles to EB), but in another instance, if EB gives $13 for a game that sells for $9 somewhere else, it's their decision to take it back for $13 and boost it to $23.33 for a T3G1F. The game is in perfect condition (could not be less) and it's their responsability to set TIV to an amount that will result in not-too-much-quantity of used games of that title.

Almost each time I go to EB, I see them selling new games for $70+ taxes, tons of $5 cards to people who never shop there and $2 disc guarantee on a PS3 disc that is so resistant to scratches... seems like good business.

Thanks OP!

I hope you don't have to give them the DS lite original box because I recycle it.. My DS lite comes with just the stylus and AC power adapter. I phoned them and nobody answered... So, I'll try here if someone knows.

Not sure if this is any help, but when I bought a used DS, it just came with the system, stylus and AC adapter. Not even a generic box for it. So my best guess is that they won't need the original box when you trade your system in.

Another deal I saw yesterday: trade 2 DS games ($8+ TIV probably) for Kingdom Hearts DS.
