I'm not entirely sure what The Shivah is or why it's free, but it's apparently been well-reviewed and it's free. To get it free:
-Navigate to this page: http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/shivah.html?page=purchase
-Click "Buy this game"
-Enter FreeShivah as your Coupon Code and click "Recalculate"
-Enter the required info
-Select "Secure Online Credit Card" as payment and click "Next"
You should receive an email with the free download link within a few seconds.

The adventures of a rabbi...why the hell not. I downloaded that Charles Barkley RPG and I might as well have this and not play it.

The A.V. Club review makes it sound promising, especially for a minimal time investment and zero cash investment.

Edit: Oh, and also, regarding why this sale is happening: My confirmation email said, "Hello, and thanks for partaking in our Yom Kippur sale!"

Cute.

This was the subject of the first episode of the Squadron of Shame podcast. Sounded good, and deep.

A little kugel maybe you have?

Edit: Being the adventure game fan I am, I grabbed this, having heard about it waaaaaaaaaay back when. I'd finished Tales of Monkey Island Episode 1 earlier (thank you, Telltale!) tonight and still wanted a bit more to play. Started this up. The voice acting can be a little weak, but from what little I've played so far, it's quality given the fact that only a few people made it. Music is surprisingly good, and the graphics are nice so long as you don't mind the style/genre.

So a preliminary recommendation.

I completely checked out and did not see that at all, my final total was $0. No idea what you did there. Maybe it is your location?

I keep getting an 'invalid coupon' error. I've tried numerous variations, starting with FreeShiva and going through all caps, all lowercase, and inserting a space (Free Shiva). I get the hazard mark and that's the only area. I can't proceed because it says there is an error.

My guess would be to try typing "FreeShivah" instead of "FreeShiva". Correctly entering the code always helps.

He's right. Copy this into your clipboard:

FreeShivah

Then, paste it into the Coupon Code box and hit Recalculate. I hope that solves your problem.

Thanks OP...the guy who makes these games, also make the blackwell games...which are amazing for old school adventure fans like myself. They are well acted, and fun if not a bit short. This Shivah game is suppose to be old, and very dated, but I always wanted to play it.

Hi Cheap Ass Gamers! :)

Dave Gilbert here, the creator of Shivah and the Blackwell series. I'm glad everyone is checking out the game. There are some teething problems with the order process, it seems. Here are the solutions:

1 - If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder. Especially if you use gmail.
2 - Even if you don't use a credit card, choose the credit card option. The store will still accept your order and not ask you for any credit card info.

Any other probs just email me! (dave@wadjeteyegames.com).

Thanks again,

-Dave

Finished the game up last night, even with going back and getting multiple endings. Really surprised to see that in an indie affair, with little subtle differences drastically changing the outcome.

Definitely going to recommend it to people. Sure it's got a few things I'd knock it for, but given the development background, it's astounding just how good the game is. Very short and sweet and to the point, with no real filler or unnecessary asides.

And on the upside, I've learned some Yiddish words and laughed at the Ravnet jokes (which were actually funny, which I say out of admiration).

I'm going to have to check out the Blackwell games. Thanks for dropping by, Dave!

I can't think of a better way to get fans and build some sales than to show people why your games kick ass.

I'm going to give this a shot, and if it's as good as it sounds then I'll be back for more later, once I'm not quite so broke. :)
