I love when shipwreck come on the show. He is very informative and hilarious. if he go to japan and covers TGS his coverage of it will be that of a young Walter Cronkite and here is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqmpDAhxGJA

I'm glad Shipwreck adds editorial to the site. Plus on the show he keeps you guys on track.
Finally...he's from the midwest (we went to the same VGL), so that makes him 100x cooler.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat... :( I have 3 cats I've had for over a decade, and while they're still in good health, I'm dreading a few years from now.
lol, sad that I already know what a "type 6 stool" is before I even start listening to this cagcast. :p

I think Cheapy D isn't star struck in the slightest by video game designers because he doesn't take them very seriously, just something for fun but nothing serious...as you can tell by his TGS coverage ;]
And hearing Cheapy talk about Bayonetta kinda reminds me of him talking about LBP :P btw Shipwreck is a nice man

The 360 warranty is 3 years from the original console purchase, or 75 minutes or so bitching on the phone to Microsoft about fixing their faulty hardware for free.
Shipwreck talking about Nintendo games fills a gap in the podcast that has been gone since...Shipwreck was last on the podcast. HUZZAH!

The best moment of every CAGcast is when Wombat drops a video game reference that CheapyD fails to get.
and The PSP go has a different memory card than the PSP.
Shipwreck has the best reviews on the planet.

Just use the online support on xbox.com. I'ts a hell of a lot faster and I've never had a problem. Even got the cardboard shipping coffin when other people were reporting that had ended.

Well I figure I might be deserving of the copy of Dissidia seeing as I was the inspiration for the title of this CAGcast as well as one of the more humorous pieces during the podcast. For you see, I am Coctopus on twitter. Had it not been for me, all of your lives would be emptier in that you would not be able to scientifically describe your poos. So by enriching your lives, specifically those of Cheapy, Wombat and Shipwreck, I should recieve FF: Dissidia.

Helloz, just finished listeningz. ^_^
Great show, lol I like how cheapy did what he did a TGS.
PS. Can I haz Dissidia too plzs-sorz :bouncy:
I think you left out one target audience for the PSP Go. People that don't own a PSP and hate the UMD format. Yeah, it's probably a small group, but I'm in it. I owned a PSP about 2 years ago, but found I hated the UMD format. Also, wasn't that keen on the PSP itself, a little too wide and thick (that's what she said.) So, yeah, I'll be getting a PSP Go. I want to play some the games I've missed out on over the last couple of years.
Enjoyed the show, having three commentators was really good. Reminded me of Monday Night Football. Maybe last years crew, where Cheapy plays the part of Tony Kornheiser, bald, Jewish, and doesn't really pay attention to the subject at hand. Also, Shipwreck is no Jon Gruden. That's the only nice thing I could think of for the Ginger boy.

Shipwreck is the Icing on the cake!!! Always informative and precise! That was awesome!!! Keep up the continued use of Poop and masturbation stories... they are HILARIOUS!! Can Wombat or Cheapy get Shipwreck to drop an F-Bomb on the show? We were unsuccessful on ours :(. Keep it up guys! U make my morning commute to work worth the long trip with 2 hour CAGcasts!

i normally dont comment but man do i want dissidia. i think shipwreck should become a regular on the show. the chemistry between the 3 of them sounds friendlier/funnier than when its just cheapy and wombat.
Shipwreck is great for my bouts of insomnia.
Cheapy, i feel so bad for you. why didn't your wife offer to give you a handjob or a blowie? so sad...GREAT STORY tho! I loled. *hugs*

Can't wait to listen to a new show. I just starting listening last week on a business trip. Listened to about 10 shows in 2 days while waiting or flying. Iphone is great for downloading anywhere.
Cheapy...try taking melatonin (3 mg) the next time you fly. It helps with jet lag.
You guys should figure out a way to get a third person on more often. Not all the time, wouldn't want to screw up the good thing you've got going, but gives the show a little extra energy from time-to-time.
Plus, I miss hearing Shipwreck's velvety voice when he isn't doing his show with Mrs. Ship.

ODST is definitely a good game but to me it has the weakest campaign of the Halo franchise thus far. The action is disjointed by the hub world since each mission literally drops you into each fight. You might as well be the Chief in each one since you pretty much take on a horde on your own. The team AI is useless anyway so you'll find yourself alone more often than not. On top of that, there are some pretty poor design decision like not being able to use bubble shields even though the enemies do and no dual wielding which I honestly don't understand why it's missing.
The hub world itself would be better if you didn't need to have night vision on almost all the time. It really takes away from the scenery and reduces it to outlines which while neat destroys the purpose of building this solitary atmosphere. Worse is the fact that while sometimes the game encourages stealth it doesn't matter when some enemies can see you in the fucking dark. I mean really. What's the point if that's going to happen? On top of that, the forced fire fight sections in the hub world feel completely out of place since it pretty much gives the impression that the Covenant know you're wondering around but choose to attack you intermittently.
At $40, it is a solid buy which luckily is the case at a lot of online retailers. For $60, however, it isn't worth it. The story of the ODSTs is shallow at best and very predictable. However, the audio logs scattered about the city tell a great parallel story with some interesting characters thrown in. I actually recommened hunting them down since it is done quite well.
I hope Shipwreck does a full review of the game since he's a great reviewer. He always seems to find something he likes about a game instead of bashing it into the ground. Nice job, ship. ;)

The mattress sex story had me in laughing for awhile. Also I don't know who's been dissing Shipwreck because he's awesome on the podcasts. I like hearing him *shoot the shit* and not just about reviews of shitty games. He adds a nice dynamic that is sometimes lost between Cheapy and Wombat.

I do want to say seeing Shipwreck return in ANY capacity is a good thing as I too miss his usual podcast. Especially considering I spend 40 hours a week in a cubicle and as such listen to a LOT of podcasts. Missing out on that one in particular makes my usual roundup feel a little less full. Oh well, cannot drag the feedback down too much.
I did want to address something and I know I'm probably going to get a third quote on the cast making me sound like a douche but whatever, I want to address the PSP Go. You see, I'm the kind of guy the system was targeted at. But there IS a problem, of course. Consider for a moment the following picture.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/sheppyboy2000/pspcollection.jpg
That was from around a year ago and I have since added about 10-15 games to that selection, including the imported Macross 7 game. You see, despite this massive collection of UMD games, I WAS looking forward to PSP Go for many reasons. I long ago accepted that my collection is just not going to tranfers to Go. I mean LOOK at it. Will 60-70 games even FIT on a 16GB PSP Go? Especially when you add the additional content like all the free DLC for Wipeout Pure, Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce, and all my Traxxpad save files? Doubtful.
But truth be told, I would gladly take the opportunity to have a dedicated PSP machine for the various pieces of PSN content. I've learned something of myself and it's that I hate lugging around DS carts and UMDs. I try to stick to 2-3 games when I travel. But already I have several games I bought on PSN forcing me to look into an 8GB MS Pro Duo here pretty soon. I wasn't looking at Go as a replacement for my PSP mainly because my collection is too vast and regionally diverse (I have nearly 20 import games... SCEA is very unlikely to give me credit on Play-asia purchases through your website), I was looking at it as a companion machine. Someplace to download Unbound Saga, Thexter Neo, Pixeljunk Monsters, Crash Bandicoot, and Final Fantasy VII. In other words, I'm the idiot Sony is targeting. I love my PSP and keep fighting the temptation for a Go.
And because I love my PSP, there is another issue people keep forgetting when bashing the Digital Distribution initiative of PSP. Have you been to a PSP section in a store lately? Pardon my french but it's fucking depressing. Meijers has two rows of games, nine rows of Daddy Day Care and Anaconda. Gamestop has officially reduced their PSP selection to smaller than Gamecubes area (and only 25% of that is not used). Best Buy and Walmart have the most robust selections and even that focuses on Greatest Hits. I wanted Steambot Chronicles Day 1, no store in town, a college town where gaming is big, stocked this Atlus RPG. NONE. By the time I gave up the chase seven days later, Amazon was on backstock for the game and I had to wait. For a PSP enthusiast, that's where we are at. Reduced only to internet shopping because no stores support the platform in a respectable way. So yes, when you buy Digitally, you lose trade-in value... but c'mon, it's a PSP game. I'm sure people are really upset over the $5 you can't get back when you're done with Dissidia. And that becomes a game feeding a store that refuses to stock NEW PSP games and laughs when you go in to preorder Soul Calibur (screw you, gamecrazy). I would prefer Sony switch to the digital method with PSN as opposed to the alternative, the very real threat of platform death outside of Japan.
So with that, why am I not buying the Go despite many reasons for the platform? Because SCEA seems hellbent on making PSP Go a horrible value proposition. Think of it this way, SCEE gives you GT PSP, and three other PSN games. With that, I'd be VERY interested in the $250 price tag. Without it, not buying until it drops. If SCEA was smart, every PSP Go would have $40 instore credit the first time they log into PSN. It would give people a chance to explore the variety of offerings. I know that would be enough to push me over. But for now, I'm giving SCEA six months to find out what they really want to do with PSP. Maybe if it's $200 in March, I'll snag one. In the meantime, I have to wait for an 8GB MS to arrive in the mail, it has an October 1st delivery date...

RIP to Ship's cat, sad news indeed.
Cheapy's mattress story also made me lose it, everyone within a ten foot vicinity was wondering what the hell was wrong with me here at home, great stuff.
Also, Shipwreck is awesome, he's such a cool down-to-earth video gamer that isn't jaded or effected by popular consensus. He likes what he likes, and he sticks by it.

Shipwreck is a real American hero.
Ship - Sorry to hear about your cat. How old was he exactly? I've got a brother/sister pair that are 15 now - both hanging in there but I think they both have kidney problems. Any tips from Mrs. Ship for that sort of thing?
Anyway, I had never heard the deal with Demon's Souls about it being even harder now. All I read said that it was pretty damn hard to begin with. I have the deluxe version preordered from Amazon and now I'm not so sure I even want it. I just don't have the time to retry levels dozens of times. But if it is really that bad, maybe we can count on a patch.
And Wombat - what forum are you reading where people are pushing the Wii controls for first person shooters!? CAG is pretty much anti-Wii on down the line (Ship being a bright exception in that he actually gives it a chance ;)). (I did happen to think the controls for Metroid Prime 3 were awesome, but then I don't really enjoy playing most FPS games).
I do agree with your Scribblenauts critique though as I ran into the same problem in my very brief time playing it while on my trip last week. However, the game is still pretty damn unique and awesome. And the hat looks good on my 22 month old (see my avatar).

Nice show guys, but PLEASE no more Cagbag questions asking for Cheapy's approval on a planned purchase, specifically those involving the PS3 or 360. It amazes me how people need other people's approvals to justify their purchases.

This is totally just my opinion here, but I feel as if the 'coolness' factor is completely gone from the PSP. When the PSP first came out and I was eager to get my hands on one I answered questions about the system from many non-gamers ranging from my co-workers all the way to my mom & sister-in-law. The PSP had a 'WOW' factor, and they were interested in it as a entertainment devices (music, movies and maybe a game or two).
Fast forward to today and all those people who were asking me about the PSP found exactly what they wanted in either a iPhone or iTouch. The PSPgo will never be able to compete with those devices in that crowd.
On the flipside, by nixing the UMD drive and providing nothing in the way of a loyalty program Sony has shot itself in the foot when it comes to PSP supporters. I am a huge fan of the PSP, I've had mine since launch - but what does the PSPgo have to offer me? The inability to play my library of PSP games? Thanks Sony, but I'm not quite sure if I'm willing to pay $250 for that.
Not to mention as a CAG, I don't think I want to be in a position where I can only consume digital content on my device ESPECIALLY when it comes to the uncertain quality of PSP games. I'm not opposed to downloading games from the PSN store, I have several already on my PSP, I'm just not ready for that to be my only option. Perhaps if Sony adjusted the prices for these downloads, but they have clearly stated they are not going to be doing.
If Sony included free Shipwreck wallpapers on the PSPgo then none of this would matter and it would be a HUGE success. How glorious a sight that would be... ahhh, dare to dream...

Cheapy really needs to get over this poop fetish...it's getting creepy.
Also, shipwreck really should be on the CAGcast more often, its good to have a less poopy, less jewey (is that even a word, either way it's probably not kosher...zing!) perspective.

Shipwreck is awesome. He adds a lot to the Cheapy/Wombat dynamic (or the Hbomb/E*Master dynamic- come back to CBG anytime), plus he's the only one of CAG's "Big Three" that gives us the time of day.
It's a shame Foreplay's in hiatus. I hope the Ships can get their schedules in sync soon.

I've beaten NFS Shift and never experienced the bug that supposedly tries to connect to PSN, so unless somebody can post instructions on how to recreate, it's probably fake. I've experienced one bug, which was fairly major since it gave points in a series to the wrong drivers to make the difficulty higher than it should've been. That's all and I could get around it by playing on easy for that series and switching back for the final race.
I've never gotten the appeal of Bayonetta, which may be because Devil May Cry doesn't really interest me at all. Releasing it over here at around the same time frame as God of War 3 and Dante's Inferno, which I'm quite a bit more interested in over Bayonetta.
MUA was just a boring, tedious mess, so I'm skipping the sequel unless I can get it for $10 or so.
By first level of the Demon's Souls review build, do you mean the tutorial level, Shipwreck? Or do you mean the first world you can access from the hub world? I got through most of the first level from the hub world and just found it boring since there didn't seem to be any interesting reasons to keep going since enemies only drop herbs and little loot, if any.
Shipwreck needs to take a page out of Bobby Kotick's playbook and figure out how to exploit CAG Foreplay for massive profit.
Just make Shipwreck the third member of the CAGcast and merge CAG Foreplay into the show since you guys do new releases anyway and he can add to the games discussion, as well. It's win-win for everyone. (+1 contest entry)

after the download finished and I saw this podcast was a bit under 2 hours...I was expecting another boring show that just kept on going on and on (and most of it was!)
Cheapy, your TGS stories weren't that bad and actually interesting. I would have walked away quickly if I saw some fucker who tried to sue me. You think anyone who was at TGS (that also listens) knows about your doody duties (what types were they anyway ;)?)
For some reason Wombat seemed to be the one leftout of the conversions (as Shipwreck is usually the one when there's a threesome). Any article about the Samsung LCD issue? I have a Samsung LCD but a different model (was it a specific line or something?).
Oh and nice side comments as always :applause:.
It was good to hear Shipwreck in most of the conversations this time. I'm curious though, do you usually get niche or low name games in for review? I was looking for an ODST review up.
The Disgaea games are very cruel if you fail a mission/episode from what I recall. Demon's Soul is the first [Japanese developed] game I've heard where the difficulty is upped in a foreign version. I'm looking to try the game if I ever pick up a PS3. Also I think there has been reverse situations where game difficulty has been lowered (or made so that the player has more powerups etc) such as in the Fire Emblem series (may only be gba).
Everyone has to love Shipwreck even if he's one of the nerdiest guys around :D.
oh and Cheapy's last story about his sex dream had me loling again. It's great whenever his asinine stories make me laugh. Ship and Wombat laughing in the background also add to it. Just a quick question Cheapy, what do you parents think of these types of stories (any Cheapy moment for that matter) when they listen to the shows?
I really would not mind receiving a umd psp-go version of Dissidia 8-)

Agree 100% with the thoughts regarding the PSPgo. I was really excited with the announcement right until they dropped that $250 price tag on everyone. I see a possible price drop/sale for the holidays coming, but even then it makes it harder to buy when you see the cheaper PSP-3000 right next to it.
Anyway, awesome show this week guys. Cheapy and Wombat seemed a bit more energetic this week. Great to hear Shipwreck again, and that he hasn't been burnt out on gaming after churning out so many reviews for CAG. $This is definitely the show that proved Ship should be a permanent 3rd seat. That, and he's the only one that plays/knows about the weird games that Cheapy and Wombat don't.

Final Fantasy VII was the first I heard about. Ruby and Emerald Weapon were NA exclusive until FFVII International. Urban myth is that those bosses were put in to test the "smack talk" of US gamers in how good they were. Especially after OUR version of FFIV (II) was largely criticized since we got an "easy" or "properly balanced" version in the states.
Devil May Cry 3 also had our Normal being Japan's Hard, so on and so forth. It's not as uncommon as you think. Working Designs was positively infamous for this and a couple games were nearly impossible to beat because of it. Course Working Designs was also infamous for ruining translations with pop culture references.... why is a 14th century village quoting Austin Powers again?

Cheapy, this is in regards to the boycotting comment about Modern Warfare 2: No matter what stupid moron (who in all actuality has little to do with the development) is in charge of Activision, if a game is GOOD people will BUY it. If Modern Warfare 2 ends up sucking more ass than a New York whore then it really doesn't matter if Bobby Kotick decides he's not charging enough for his games, people won't buy it.
On the same note, if Kotick decides to come out tomorrow and say, "Anyone who buys Modern Warfare 2 is a shit stain on the bottom of my heel", people will still buy it because it's not about him. It's about the franchise that we've spent so much time in to just walk away completely from because of a moron who we've only ever read about on the internet.
So whenever a boycott is mentioned it seems kind of silly to say we're not buying a game solely for the fact that the developer's bosses are complete morons (after all how many of us have that my-boss-is-an-idiot problem).

3 man show = worth waiting for .
Now you guys can have a new excuse for delaying the shows . ;)
I have a broken 60 GB PS3 and have no money to get it fixed' but I was going to send it to a 3rd party repair service .
I have no interest in getting someone else's 60 GB unit in it's place .
So, I have to wait and miss Uncharted 2 [for now] .
Maybe I should tweet about it .
I need more followers for anyone to give a shit though .
Maybe all of the CAGs should follow each other so we can have a Twitter union to be heard better .
It worked for Wombat's TV problem, and I think it's a good idea if you guys can put the word out on the show .
Also maybe add the twitter names to people profiles on the site too !
Thanks Cheapy .
Also twitter = Richlough [let's get this thing started]

Yeah, Ship's right, Foreplay is no fun without Mrs. Ship. Hopefully schedules will work out soon.
How come I'm always in public when the hilarious stories start? Do you realize how hard it is to hold back the laughter? Even when I crack a smile there's always someone looking right at me.
BTW, Ship has to be the most organized person ever... I mean, have you seen that list of games? I bet everything is labeled in the basement, isn't it? And always well informed about what games are coming out. Even without a Foreplay to work on Ship'll be able to tell us about the new games.

Damn, Shipwreck not being able to pass the first level of Demon Souls has me worry now. I don't mind a difficult game, but six hours and no progress, this isn't FFXI, there is no need for that much wasted time.
My friend and I are actually going to boycott Activision. I know our two person boycott won't mean much in the grand scheme of things but it's just how I feel. I was a bit interested in CoD6 but after all those things he has said and rehashes they're releasing, it seems like I won't miss much. I have no need for Tony Hawk or DJ Hero, and I'm a bit sick of fps now. So it's kind of a boycott and kind of a lack of interest in the product.

Cheapie's voice broke a few times as Wombat was pounding on him for his lack of work and lack of memory.
Cheapie seems lonelier than ever. I think the Japan thing is getting to him. It's a slow slow descent into insanity.
He continues to pray to Stern at least 10 times during the show. His bits are his prayers.
Ship continues towards his gaming goal - more than 1 billion served.
Wombat seemed a bit so-so this session except for getting on Cheapie's ass and talking about Scribnauts. (btw, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 was horribly generic as well. The only folks looking past that were, well, folks like Wombat - big comic nerds who see superheroes instead of dollar signs.)
The big W also had some new jealousy issues with Ship cutting into his time and old issues like Cheapie having a big old internet golden goose all to himself. So close yet so far. Must be painful.
Cheapie is a 360 fanboy. He really perks up when he gets to the 360 section. Or does that just coincide with him getting some dick on bed action during the show. I guess during the show it would be dick on bottom of desk action. Maybe Grandma O was giving him a backrub.
Ship is the Opie or Beaver of the videogame podcasting world. Maybe he can bring in the Christian and full-time Mom demographic by making a few more appearances. Wait, Stool and Dick on Bed talk make that difficult. Well there's always Oprah.
btw, whether deliberate or not it seems like a good thing to get the site more into game reviews as a side business as long as it doesn't distract from the main mission at hand.

I don't see any other news stories at all in relation to the difficulty being increased. I asked this question earlier in a different forum (NeoGAF) and it seems many people are under the impression that the game does not have gameplay changes, just translatic tweaks.

I totally agree with Cheapy on the subject of Halo's story and gameplay. The single player of Halo is boring and the story makes little to no sense. Master Chief is a boring character with no personality to speak of. The only time I have ever enjoyed playing a Halo game was playing co-op, and that's only because pretty much anything is enjoyable when playing co-op.
Also, ODST is a total ripoff because it was originally going to be a download-able game on Xbox Live Market Place for $15-$20. Then they jack up the price and put on a disk because they know all the Halo fan boys will buy it without a second thought. Fuck you Microsoft.

Shipwreak was wrong about Demon's Soul and making the game more difficult for the US audience. As far as I was told, Atlus made region specific servers, text and UI adjustments. Gameplay was unaffected.
Yes it is very difficult game but I am sure Shipwreak could beat this game if he gets over that 2nd boss hump. (Pick Royal Class!).

Yup, it appears I mispoke about the increase in gameplay difficulty. Sorry about the confusion. It's still a very difficult game. Shipwreck saying its challenging says something about the difficultly. Many developers are known to make changes in looks / gameplay based on regions. What part exactly did you get stuck at? Demon's Souls is difficult, but it's not unfair. In the first level there are three shortcuts throughout the castle that you find which will lead back to the beginning so that if you die, you don't have to go through the entire level again. If you take the first world slowly, one creature at a time, it should be very doable. There's only one guy (red knight) who is really difficult and he is easily avoidable far off the path of where you need to go. In fact, he should be avoided until you level up more. All the other baddies can be handled with relative ease so long as you're paying attention - moving slowly with your guard up.
One more thing, the class that you start out with makes a big difference in how the difficulty will play out. Maybe for the E3 demo you started out with an easier class. The Royal is definitely the easiest to start out with because you get a magic regen ring that lets you stand back and cast spells at enemies from a safe distance. If you're having a big problem with combat perhaps the Royal would be a good start for you.

Gotta agree with Wombat on Ultimate Alliance 2, I played only the first 2 levels and just felt bored as hell, the gameplay doesn't feel updated at all, it just dragged on those 2 levels... I'll get back to it at some point though.

Nothing to apologize for. Atlus games are HARD. I applaud people who like and can handle the challenge but I agree with you three in that if I get frustrated in a game, there are literally three more that can easily take it's place. I've embraced the fact that I'm weak.
Really liked this episode so far. Sounds like you guys all had a great time, and all three of you got in some pretty good zingers that had me cracking up.

Wombat- What's wrong with ribs and mashed potatoes? I find it to be a pretty common combo.
Also, I am assuming you guys have gotten your electronics, or other things, fixed via twitter because you are "power players" on CAG (and have followers). A company like panasonic may think if Wombat shits on our TV others will not buy it because his weight has some weight to it.

Nice show! Shipwreck brings a lot to the CAGcast, it's always more interesting when he's around, if not just for the fact that I identify with his gaming tastes more than Cheapy or Wombat.
And please don't "do anything" with the CAG Foreplay franchise! Aside from the occasional guest show, it wouldn't be right without both of the Shipwrecks, as there's a dynamic there that I don't think can be replaced. I'd rather have shorter Foreplays less often than lots of lengthy not-really-Foreplays without both hosts.
