If you buy an extra large pizza at papa john's, you'll get a coupon for $3 off DVD or BD. Not the best deal, but the only one I know of so far.

Otherwise, you'd at least get a greasy box with Optimus on the cover.

Not unless Amazon makes a special promotion with an online code for the coupon.

They don't take manufacturer's coupons.

I don't have a coupon myself since I rarely order a pizza over 14.99. This wouldn't be a deal for me since I'd be getting the pizza for the coupon and it actually be cheaper to just buy the BD.

Anyway, I think the coupon is one that is scanned at the register, so there probably isn't a code.

For what it's worth, I stopped by my local FYE yesterday just to glance on what they have, and I saw posters for Transformers saying that they have an exclusive steelbook case.

I didn't get anymore info on it, unfortunately, but just thought I'd mention it.

walmart = my buy for the imax footage

the steelbooks are cool but 6-12 months down the road ill beable to get one half the price the retail stores sold them for like i did with every steelbook i own that minus the very rare ones like the grindhouse ones, i remember when the i am legend steelbook and dark knight steelbooks were going for outrageous prices, got both for 10 on the amazon user store :)

Best deal thus far, Best Buy in the first 2 hours of being open will have it for 21.99 plus if you use that Papa Johns coupon that brings it down to 18.99 (this is on Blu ray.) or 10 bucks on dvd using the papa johns coupon.

How is that better than Wal-Mart @ $19.9X - $3 coupon?

The Big Screen Edition on Blu-Ray appeared in the Wal-Mart Oct 4 - 10 ad from what I can see in other posts and was listed as $19.9X.

The extra content would be during the movie as in specific scenes would be extended to fill the IMAX format. They did that with the Dark Knight BD, the IMAX scenes fills the entire HDTV and then it goes back to the standard widescreen for hte non IMAX scenes.

Just tell the store you got it in your email. I had a coupon for TF figures that was scanned from a burgerking (or maybe mcdonalds) bag. Had like 5 on me at any given time cuz they got you 5 off 19.99 or more on TFs. Cashier didn't even blink. If it scans, it's "legal tender". And if it doesn't, I've had cashiers overide it so it does, haha.

I just went to print preview, and chose to print in landscape mode. Printed fine longways on a sheet of paper. I then cut it out, and folded it in half along the "line" in the scan, so it looks less like a scan that way. We'll see if it works.

Also, what about Sam's Club? there is one closer to me than a Wal-Mart, and I believe that technically they should get in stock the same version as Wal-Mart. Do they take coupons? I can't find a link on the site, but I can't imagine they wouldn't be carrying it. Anyone know a price there?

If you look at the back of the slip cover in the first yellow writing it says Maximize your viewing experience with this Big Screen Edition. Also on the actual disc case it says it in a few places. Namely, the binding near the bottom, or the back right top corner by the Proof of Purchase UPC.

Mine also is the Bumble Bee cover on the case and the slip cover that others have described, not the one noted on the Walmart site.

My UPC is matching the posters I quoted. Pictures below from my cell phone.

My local Walmart (Porter Ranch, CA) had the Bluray and DVD for $15.96!! That was a nice surprise when I got there this morning. They only had 5 copies of the Bluray out at opening (7am) and by the time the few people there got through, there were only 1-2 left. (one guy seemed to be waffling as to how many he wanted)

I didn't bother trying to pass the copy of the Papa John's coupon-- was tempted but it's pretty obviously against the official rules and $15.96 was a pretty awesome price as is.

just got back from a Wal-Mart here in Houston. Glad I asked about quantities! At first, the cardboard display was completely empty where the BD's were supposed to be, but tons of DVDs. Heart racing, I walked over to the aisle and found 6 copies on BD left! so I grabbed one. They all had the Bumblebee case cover, Prime slipcover and rang up at the $19.96 price. Coupon (original) worked flawlessly.

So what's up with this? is this edition, on BD at least, a limited run? Does Wal-Mart realize the $20 price tag is hurting them and not going to replenish until next week, at full price? Either way, I'm glad I got mine!!

My thanks go to the user who posted the coupon. It worked for me and the Walmart I went to had a few copies of the BD left. I was originally going to get the transforming case from Target to go with the one I have for the first movie but, in the end, I figured it wasn't worth all that extra money compared to Walmart's price + the coupon.

but wal-mart doesn't even have a weekly ad...or do they?

I've seen them here in SoCal, we don't get them regularly with the newspaper but every now and then I'll see them. They should be available in stores as well.

I'm going to be heading out there soon, hope they're not as hard to find as some have reported.

I really wish this was available from Amazon with the IMAX footage, not just at Walmart.

Though if someone else confirms a price cheaper than $19.99, especially if it's that $13.27 price, I may swing out and pick up a copy at WM.

Mine was cheaper than $19.99... it was $19.96. ;)

I quickly browsed through a few other forums before heading out to WM and some people had theirs ring up at $18.96 and $13.xx.

I also would've preferred buying through Amazon, as I don't care much about the IMAX scenes (I watched the movie both in a normal theater and then at an IMAX theater and didn't even realize there was a difference in content), but using the $3 off coupon, it came out cheaper getting it through WM and I didn't have to find filler for FSSS.

Went to my Walmart in Charlottesville, VA and picked up the BD big screen for $13.27. I was priced at $19.96. There was no signs for the sale, so might be YMMV.

Charlottesville, Va had a deal? I've never found any good deals there lately. Although, I think I remember that Walmart beats the competitor's ad prices on most DVDs and Blurays by posting those little paper signs saying they lowered the price. Guess I should have gone there instead of Fredericksburg this morning. Good find.

I am sick of these exclusives... Target's got the transforming case and the holographic thing, Walmart's got the IMAX footage..and so on.

Anyways how's the holographic thing?

yeah, I HATE store exclusives, especially when it's an entire movie or even parts of it. At least Walmart is the cheapest place to buy it, as well.

(this was a double whammy for me, I try to not buy store exclusives and definitely try to not support Walmart and I failed on both today. Still holding strong on not buying Gremlins, though!)

The DVD looks to be absolutely horrible-- like they're really trying to convince people to go HD, as I can't believe it has to look THIS bad. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1189560

Does anyone know if the IMAX blu ray version is comparable to the regular blu ray version in terms of picture quality? I'm hoping that the normal scenes use the same compression and coding, but I haven't found any info on this online. I'd rather not have them lower the bitrate for the normal scenes just so they can squeeze in the extra pixels for the IMAX scenes.

All I can say is that most of the Imax footage was the scene in the forest where Optimus takes on 5 enemies. It looked amazing on my 46" LCD!! I thought I would miss it, but it as soon as it switched to full screen, I noticed. I didn't see anything before this scene and doubt I will after, b/c this probably did clock in at 2 mins, or even more.

I'm not a huge transfer guy, so I can't get into any technical aspects, but I can tell the audio is a bit lower than the first Transformers BD during dialog scenes.

EDIT: More Imax footage when Devaastator forms!!!

The Imax stuff is kind of stupid to me and I just finished watching it. Its really only at a few scenes and it adds nothing to the movie really. Some Walmarts lower their DVD and Blu-ray new release prices so they can undercut competitors. The Charlottesville, VA store reduced their price for the DVD to $13.27 and accidentally did the same for the Blu-ray. Signs say $13.27 for DVD and $19.96 for Blu-ray, but both ring up for $13.27. Don't think so, 1 of them in Pasadena was $19.96 but they didn't have any copies out yet late Monday night, just the price. The one in Pearland off 518 near 288 was $19.96 yesterday. They did allow the printed coupon from a few pages back though at that location, but they had less than 5 copies of the "Big Screen" Blu-Ray and more than 100 of the DVD.
